Not typically. It depends on the game of course, but not typically. Not to mention that Steam has cloud saves by default which I'm pretty sure work with Hollow Knight.

The nice thing about the path of pain is that it just gets easier. I died the same way you did, and my second attempt through was like 15 minutes compared to like an hour and a half. I think you'll be surprised at how quickly you can do it now.

I'll be real, if Silksong is all Path of Pain/Godmaster shit I'm not buying that trash. The main game, Radiance, etc. were a perfectly acceptable level of difficulty, but this "fuck you" meme-tier difficulty is legitimately not fun.
Once you do it once it becomes easier

I thought it was pretty weird that they made a great exploration game and thought the logical thing to follow it up with was a bunch of boss rushes
It was weird enough that the base game contained a super meatboy buzzsaw segment for no obvious reason
Those were completely optional challenges for people that wanted to master the movement and combat of the game.
Because they barely pushed the movement/combat systems of the game. If anything, Godmaster needed another PoP to not just test your pogo skills.
