You would need a perfect setup for this to happen. Gen 3 was the moment where gamefreak got the kick in the balls to push for something and didn't have easy material to grab. Gen 2 was the planned end but the popularity was enough for a sequal but unlike gen 2 they couldn't extend the gen 1 region. They also had gen 1 loss at that point and needed a new audience and were fairly limited in hardware resources. 3d killed the creativity and masuda keeps caving into gen 1 nostalgia. Pokemon as a brand would have to tank really bad without collapsing. Unless masuda and the old staff holding power were caught into some R kelly tier scandal its not gonna happen. Unless /vp/ could infiltrate japanese yakuza organization and pull a fabricated scandal hit conspiracy on a bulk of gamefreaks staff pokemon will remain a dying franchise.
