I share your pain buddy, but this is 2019 era Yea Forums. If it isn't a thread about gacha waifu bait or the latest e celeb, then it's an instant archive.
I've been playing PSP/R6 recently, mostly timed trials, etc.
I'm pretty far into Ridge Racers 2 (I'm on the EX Tours, I think).
I'm probably not going to get through the MAX Tours, though.
rage racer remake when
its ridge racer!
Quick while it's on topic,
Is ridge racer a good arcade racer? I see that 4 and 7 (maybe 6?) are all on ps3 and I'm always looking for new racers since burnout is basically gone for good now.
Also, I hope those rumors for rr8 are real.
What's the difference between both of those?
Yeah, I'd recommend em. Especially 4 and 7.
Ridge Racer before V and after it are somewhat different.
Prior to V it had very snappy handling. You could drift but the cars had such sharp handling it was rarely necessary.
Starting with V the handling model was changed for very relaxed drifting where all you had to do was let go of the throttle and turn and your car would just slide forever. Every game since V has used this as a basis and made it even easier over time (by 6 and 7 the drifting was so basic that you were basically locked into the turn when you started drifting).
Also maybe look into Xenon Racer and Dangerous Driving. Just a bit of extra advice.
>What's the difference between both of those?
Almost nothing. If you can play Ridge Racers 2 just go with that. The changes are mostly subtle at best (like I think RR2 has two Special Machine classes or something).

Oh so I'm not the only one who knows about Xenon Racer? It was pretty under the radar.
I've heard of dangerous driving and it looks neat, but never heard of xenon racer before.
Xenon Racer is Ridge Racer-esque. It'll be out on the 26th.
I listen to Orbital Rock if it's available.
RRRRRRREEEEdge Racer.
Which would you say is better for beginners of both rr, and this kind of arcade/sim mix? (I say mix because it still requires you to slow down for some turns unlike burnout where you never let go of accelerate)
Honestly? Probably the later installments.
I wish they included some of Ridge Racer V's exclusive courses in Ridge Racers. They label Seaside Route 765 and Ridge City Highway as coming from both Ridge Racer and Ridge Racer V but then didn't include any of RR5's exclusive routes like Outer Pass (which is like "Ridge City Highway Plus" or Above the City, pictured).
Namco port the rr games to switch please
This ost (rr7) is bopping so far
This game might be worth plugging in the good ol ps3 for
I've been revisiting it (though I never beat it so really I'm just continuing). People still set records in the UFRA Special Event races to this day (if you boot it up you'll see Japanese players posting times with the current date).
I only ever played the PSP launch game) at release) and R4 (last year). How are the others? R4 is orgasmic but very light on content, where I remember the PSP one having having a decent amount of content but not playing quite as well and not having near as good an OST.
All of them have something to offer, I think.
...
Well, aside from the Vita game. FUCK THAT NONSENSE.
