This happened with Medal of Honor Airborne. I made a thread a week before gggmanlives made a video and there was 0 replies. Then after the video all of a sudden everyone was interested (not really it was an excuse to talk about youtubers rather what the youtubers were talking about).

The game failed to live up to the expectations set by the first fucking level. After you do that it's all downhill, and there is absolutely nothing new after you get the final minion hive. The expansion levels are the only thing saving it from being completely forgettable past Spree.

the roman guys were pretty tough in 2, because you had to 'flank' them or try to break the formation with wolves, but the problem was that:
A. the controls for getting them to flank sucks cock
B. doesnt work half the time
C. rushing with wolves basically halves your force in casualties.

It might be different group of elves not related at all to the ones near the tower because of the heart exploding and whatnot. There was a lot of inconsistencies in the second game that made it feel like linking the first two games was last minute decision.

I remember recruiting the blues in 2 to be full of aids gameplay wise. I know I died and don't remember why. It killed my enthusiasm to play it after that.

You probably didn't have upgraded armor and a decent 6000 gold weapon to kill the gold armored guys. Also very annoying puzzles that involve placing blue minions and shit. That level is like the desert level in the first game with the fucking worms and bug bombs, horrible.

From 2 story we know that the overlord saved the elfs and did not pick the dark girl at the lust dungeon as her good sister appears and is the mother of the overlord of 2 (but still some of tower things are exclusive of the dark sister so its confusing) no one knows the other choices

Raising Hell is the highpoint of the entire series.

played the first game as a child a bit but ended up playing both games over the past few months

Biggest complaint about both games are the minion controls, especially when it's a large group. Sometimes minions get stuck and the control focus suddenly switches from the big group to a secluded one, throwing you off. But I noticed it way more in the 2nd game.

The first game throws some choices at you in the first zone, the one for stealing women and food and then never offers you any such opportunity again until the dwarven king at the end. The customisation is alright but pretty useless since half of it affects stuff you won't ever see most of the time. And you can't even sit on the throne.

Most of the time the game just wanted to be wacky and funny but I liked the story and twist in the end, also explained the alignment system being in place.

The 2nd game however felt worse in almost every aspect. In most aspects it either stayed the same or was a downgrade from the first game. Minion control still sucked, customisation somehow got even worse and more pointless. Your tower was big enough to provide room for 3 overlords with wasted space and loading times so you don't even want to go anywhere because it takes so long. You take every woman you find and only choose a "first mistress". The setting feels really out of place after having the established world from the first game and the story takes itself way too seriously. The decision between enslaving or eradicating a town gives you literally nothing, killing civilians takes incredibly long since you have to do it by hand and cant use your minions for it as they no longer swarm people but only stop them from running away. One of the few good things about the 2nd game was the fact that the armour and weapon upgrades were obtainable without even more pointless farming of souls and you get stuff like the harvest helmet while you can actually need it.

In the end they're both really average and could be more

The shittiest thing about the second game was the boss selection. Instead of a fellowship of eight heroes like the first game it's just random animals like a yeti, spider and salamander. That fucking sucks dick.

While the first game is just really average the 2nd game feels straight up unfinished with lots of features where you think to yourself "whats the point?" - like the revival of specific minions (who the fuck ever used that apart from trying it out?). There are minion upgrades but the game doesn't even tell you what they improve. I just asumed it makes new minions spawn at a higher level, but then again what does the minion level even do in the first place? Stuff like this makes me think it would have been explained in the manual if the original release had one back then.

Also what said, the bosses in the 2nd game are all really forgetable.
