I played this about three years ago so that's just from memory.
EA like always. 3 was supposed to be true survival horror

Is there any fucking way to do the coop on PC without using Origin?
EA trying to make a horror game not a horror game. Change everything about the game and then when it fails and they have to close down Visceral Games they can say "see we told you horror games don't sell teehee"
no
>What went wrong?
Just EA's usual antics of running another developer into the ground once they have their claws in them.
How did the series "end" I never played the DLC
DS3 was a good game, despite EA's interference. It's a shame EA mandated the game to sell 5 million copies at the very least to keep the series afloat.
why couldn't EA destroy Bioware
this
well bioware isn't doing too well at the moment but their games have wider appeal so i think they are sticking around for a time
Bioware is used as a diversity shield.
will never happen
>sections and plot elements locked behind coop
How much of the game is coop only?
I actually liked the direction the story went aside from the forced romantic triangle drama. I loved what it did for the setting, and the final ending was perfect. God damn EA to hell for having the nerve to put it behind fucking DLC.
Want to know this too
I'll speak as someone who played Dead Space and Dead Space 2 on-release and doesn't follow developers/game design as a hobby.
Dead Space 1 was spooky and pretty good and had some jumpscare and was fairly challenging on the hardest settings, it had a good atmosphere.
Dead Space 2 had the same kinda vibes with a bit more of a run-and-shoot feel, and got more into the backstory of the cult and origin of markers and stuff.
But then
buy deadspace 3
start it up, it's almost directly a run and shoot
atmosphere entirely secondary
co-op stuff immediately, there's other people around and it's not very scary, more like a Gears of War or something, totally doesnt care about storyline... try to forgive that, move past it, and there's microtransactions in-game and 'crafting' and resource hoarding, and you can just pay your way into being blatantly overpowered (and this is painfully obvious from the 'pre order guns' and shit, and it shoves a blatant tutorial about in-game purchases down your throat).
I only made it about 3 hours further than that because i was so turned off by how it was going. I didn't even complete it. Sometimes i think about going back to try to force myself through the whole game and i just can't. They pulled Dead Space's pants down and filled that bitch up with in-app purchases and soulless design choices.
They made Isaac a cuck and Ellie a whore.
Three coop missions
>Ellie a whore
I really hope that when she got out of that shuttle she was stabbed in the chest by slasher.
EA games is a fucking awfull corporation who will suck the life out of every franchise you ever loved for the rest of eternity
EA either wanted to kill Visceral Games for some reason or EA managers were too greedy and assumed that players would just take the shitty generic shooter & microtransaction vehicle the game was developed as.
You could see the deadness in the developer's eyes as they had to sit there doing marketing and talking about how EPIC the EPIC PULPING was and how EPIC this EPIC GAME is gonna be DUDE MANDATORY ONLINE MULTIPLAYER PORTIONS IN YOUR SINGLE PLAYER GAME, THAT'S EPIC! BUY 6 MILLION COPIES OR DADDY EA WILL SHUT US DOWN.
Because now everyone expects it
They want to kill BW but they can't because everyone knows they're going to kill BW and that's bad for rep
everything
Only good thing about the game were the suit designs, best aesthetics.
The gunplay and gun crafting is very polished and well done. My main issue with the game is the microtransactions, and the fact that it isn't as scary as the other games.
Don't get me wrong, the game definitely has a Lovecraftian vibe to it with the Brethren Moons, but there isn't a lot of the quality atmospheric horror from past games.
don't forget shit story and love triangle
That felt particularly shoehorned in.
I was a huge dead space fan. Or at least a large fan I guess. Never did complete dead space 3, what was the true ending in the DLC about? Think I heard it was something humanity being absolutely fucked.
yeah the markers/moon or whatever made its way to earth i think? and the ship issac and carter are on got by hit by one of them after seeing earth with the marker/moon behind it.
