This. I really enjoyed the second one, and it'll always have a place in my heart along with other late 90s to mid-2000s games as being emblematic of my childhood, but that's because I got it as a teenager with no knowledge of the hype that Molyneux made of his games, and the disparity between the hype and the reality.
I don't think the dude is evil for it, I just think he was really enthusiastic for his own games and was probably hyping it for himself as much as the consumer, but the fact remains that the games pale in comparison to what he said they'd be every single time.

the dude has Rockstar sized ambitions and no way to make them a reality which is something he can be held accountable for but I get what you mean.

I've played the original to completion multiple times.

I'd say no everyone looks like clay knock offs of the original cast but it has some extra outfits and a steam workshop
but there is nothing of worth in the workshop

I remember the TLC version of the game having an active mod community back in the day. There was one mod that removed all borders and fences in the world space so that you could walk around much more freely.

Because the first one was so bad that there was no way you could make a proper sequel!

It had one big fuck up no end game boss.

I agree, and the Giant Shard fight on the beach was absolutely fucking ass. I'd still sooner play 2 again than 1. I just hate how goofy looking your character gets when you leave the spire and are all beefy. Looks like a fucking wrestling action figure

The dark ages after the big spire usage would be good too.

there are things in the game from what look to be older ages and some insight in those things would be cool.
This tree for example and the stones it is standing on are way more primitive than most of the Old Kingdom arches you see everywhere
same goes for those glowing menhirs you see in Lady Grey's castle and some demon doors.

though one vanilla jack was my first introduction over at friends house but the amount of hours I've poured into TLC makes that the'real one' for me.

It was good but it wasn't better than lost chapters.
Bad finale, couldn't die, no mana so you could spam spells a lot of not fixed bugs (fucking assasins in the middle of the town spawing even after ending the quest) it had a lot more flaws than the original.

I just want them to just go back and look at the the past 3 fable games and try to find what worked and what made the games stand out from others.
Look at Molyneux's absurd list of promises and see which ones they can actually try to implement.
Don't go with some massive desire to add newer and bigger promises just like the last time.
Just try to build on what's there and see if you can make something great from it.

Its positives definitely outweighed the negatives. Much, much better maps. Real estate system. Better quests. Quests actually having an impact on the world which Fable never pulled off. Clothing system. More collectables. More interesting Demon Doors. Magic was gimped yeah I'll agree but you'd have to be braindead to die in the original Fable anyway.

The fact that you could never look as kino in evil mode as the box art for the first two titles implied always bugged me. The flies in particular ruined the look.
