Rebellion
+Classic, easy moveset, looks OK
-Kind of boring after 3 games
Sparda
+Easy moveset, looks kind of cool
-Also looks kind of dumb,
Dante
+New, looks cool, enhanced moveset
-Magic swords on the style button can mess you up

DSD
Dante Looks shit. It looks good when activated, wish it always looked like that
i prefer the part where i can skip the V missions and just do Dante and neros
>-Magic swords on the style button can mess you up
How? It has the best version of Round Trip. It felt off at first but once I got used to it I was styling as usual.
Sometimes I mean do air combos but shoot swords.
rebellion because it does the least damage
>thought I'd hate to play as V
>turns out I like V more than nero
>The weak shall give their heart and swear their eternal loyalty to me.
Of all the things that would trip me up going from Nero to Dante again, that never fucked me up since Dante's generic air combo controls are just the same as Red Queen now
The summoned swords are just extra damage or a way to keep juggling if you want to land and set up some other bullshit
Yeah but they also do cool shit like automatically doing the move that holds enemies in place when you do balrog's uppercut.
Rebellion design-wise
Summoned swords will also orbit you and interrupt enemies while you IGNITE THE FLAME
And with Cavalier they orbit you while you do donuts for a gorillion extra hits and style points
DSD's summoned swords are amazing, it would be perfect if Aerial Rave was on Forward or Backward + Attack in the air
i really don't like how it looks though
nuRebellion looks pretty cool when you check the details
Sparda is a wasted opportunity, so much could be done with the transformation gimmick
DSD is fug-ugly imo but the moveset is sick
I like how grotesque and demonic Sparda looks. It was a particularly good fit for DMC1 (though it's not that useful in DMC1...). That aspect has been deemphasized a little in general now that Devil Triggers look more like typical dragon men. DSD in that sense is more appropriate. All three are fine to play with in DMC5.
Yeah always felt like Sparda could be a lot cooler if they did more with it having the reach of a fucking halberd, by giving it unique attacks instead of just giving it a longer Stinger and Prop Spin
If its Swordmaster moveset was all long reach attacks like that it could've been a lot more interesting
Alastor
rebellion
i hate how DSD forces swordmaster air combo on me, i'd rather press more inputs and go into swordmaster than that shit.
and sparda sword looks like that one monster from resident evils dick if it had a dick
>turns out I like V more than nero
how? V is just
>sit back
>mash attack and shoot
>press b
>get easy S ranks
I can tell why you dont enjoy playing V
SPARDA
Altough it's kinda sad they didn't include some unique attacks for it. Specially considering it could extend it's reach and change it's shape to become a different weapon
I wish I could use the Rebellion with DSD's moveset.
Might be possible that they could model swap it, I've seen mods that do things like replace the Buster Arm model with the Devil Bringer.
Rebellion forever and always. I just love it's more straightforward design.
Sparda is aight but I just wasn't feeling DSD.
rebellion, the generic skull sword robbed of all it's width and flair that made it bearable, now a toothpick. looks like a cheap cosplay prop.
sparda, the cool sword you don't get to play with is now a pink tentacle with ribs. featuring a fucked up handle, a broken guard, and some unnecessary bone thing.
dante's namesake sword that has NOTHING to do design-wise with the rebellion or dante's DT form, it has a rocky surface and some bird claws that don't even follow rebellion's guard. they just threw the amulet on and that's it.
all 3 are awful.
not him but V is boring as fuck for the pure reason that button mashing + summoning nightmare + running around tapping B can give you SSS. its really really stupid.
The one with Drive.
How would you rank Nero's Devil Bringers from best to worst?
The dsd is totally superior to the other two. People just need to adapt to the new controls.
looks worse and it basically does the juggling for you
its boring
DSD has everything the other swords have pretty much and then some. Overdrive is too useful to pass up and the combo opportunity of summoned swords is immense.
At first I was annoyed at how they changed Swordmaster for DSD but I've really warmed up to it. Gameplay-wise it's pretty much an objective upgrade, not just in terms of combo potential but also raw power.
It is a shame that Sparda is essentially a reskin of Rebellion though (like how in DMC1 it was a reskin of Force Edge/Alastor), the transformation gimmick had a lot of potential.
Not counting the extra arms, I found Ragtime to be the least useful for its normal effect but its breakage is REALLY FUCKING GOOD
Punchline and Gerbera are overall amazing except Gerbera's grounded breakage, only the air one is worth it
DSD is a great upgrade but it's so damn ugly. Also it triggers my autism as I want Vergil to be the summoned swords guy
Sparda looks really fucking stupid in DMC5.
Honestly I find tomboy and helter skelter to be in the bottom with ragtime. Tomboy is just not worth it in terms of a lack or control, I just love the base moveset too much. And I honestly don't understand the point of helter skelter. It's just a shit breaker.
I'm fine with how they gave Dante Summoned Swords because they're pretty much just Style Lv5 for him
On the first playthrough I think Buster and Gerbera were definitely the best, but getting the Devil Bringer back and getting a triple jump makes them feel a lot less necessary, even if they still have their uses. Ragtime's probably the worst, but it's really handy for fighting Furies. Tomboy and Overture are probably my favorites, they're just really well rounded.
Gerbera 01> Punchline>Tomboy> Overture> the others.
>don't understand the point of helter skelter
try it on the chicken boss, you'll see
>And I honestly don't understand the point of helter skelter. It's just a shit breaker.
It's for fucking enemies that block more than anything else, it really shines once you get Nero's DT since you can mash Bringer punches during the entire animation
Why the hell doesn't Itsuno ever bring back weapons from previous games? Alastor was god tier and DMC3's weapons are still the best in the series.
Why doesn't dante get rebellion back but virgil keeps yamato? Wouldn't it make more sense for dante's new sword to just be rebellion but it transforms with sin devil trigger?
>Alastor with DMC5's lightning, see Cavalier Angelo
i'm willing to pay
What does it do there? I know Rawhide has a special grab on Malphas.
Story wise, Dante sells them for pizza money between missions. Seriously.
And the Fist weapons generally have a similar moveset, although Balrog is my new favorite even if half of it is because of the voice. And King Cerberus is a straight upgrade to Cerberus.
cos rebellion actually broke
DSD is Sparda + Rebellion, if you somehow had Sparda + Yamato it would probably look just as fucked up
i did not like sword of dante at first but being able to attack in air without having to switch to sword master and summon swords are really useful.
it would, especially if they upgraded the base rebellion slightly
they got lazy or ran out of money though
DSD just looks so lame when Dante's not DT'd
DT + max charged shot + drill breakage into Buster Breaker, try it
Second part of this post was meant for
We got cerberus and kalina Ann back. Also cerberus has a bit of nevan in it and cavalier is probably too similar to agni and rudra to exist with them. Beowulf has pretty much all it's good moves in Balrog and that's it. Alastor had a very basic moveset and frankly I'm good with not getting air raid again. Shit is dumb and not worth it. Ifrit again mostly exists in DMC5 except for kick 13 which is a shame.
So basically most the past weapons are back in some form. Even lucifer gets a wink and a nod with DSD.
This.
Tomboy's great for ending air combos with it's downward spin, or for dealing damage to a whole room by spamming its streak equivalent. It shouldn't be used in place of your basic moveset, but mixing it in with your basic moveset works great.
DSD is perfect except for no manual prop shedder
>Tomboy is just not worth it in terms of a lack or control
Tomboy's best move is probably its streak. It launches every enemies in its path and can be chained 4 times.
Downward spins and Ex Split is decent for jump cancel and add some variety to air combos
The basic ground combo is pretty trash though
Sin DT's projectile attack is literally Air Raid with explosions anyways, and The Luce is better than Air Raid ever was
I meant more for looks and moveset, not really just gameplay. Obviously the newer weapons are more complete, but overall DMC3's were still the best designed.
The luce is such a broken skill that I refuse to use it. It's just a free SSS and does like 25% of a boss health bar for free. Sin DT needs a rework or something because it's basically a panic button
Can anyone explain the obsession some people have with alastor. It had an excellent intro but I cant remember it doing anything that other swords don't, and it has the worst look out of any DMC weapon IMO.
Because Alastor doesn't really have the same thematic importance and sentimental value that Rebellion and Sparda have. Rebellion and Sparda are both swords associated with Dante's dad. Alastor was just a random sword he found shoved into a wall once.
This.
Vergil model for Dante, Yamato model for DSD and recolored summoned swords when?
Gerbera for air movement and devil bringer for maximum damage.
as for his DT from, its meh. i liked the concept art of his DMC4 devil form better.
They think being different makes them cool.
Bring back Alastor dammit
It's just a cool lightning sword that looks like a dragon. It's definitely better than Rebellion for me.
It's a fucking lightning sword. Why is that so hard to understand? That and Viewtiful Joe.
Aesthetics? Rebellion
Move set? Dante
I don't like how DSD looks like a MH weapon though.
People who started the series with DMC1 tend to like it more than Rebellion, largely because Rebellion was from DMC2, which was complete garbage.
Rebellion is pretty stale after 3 games and Sparda being a clone of it with one unique move and more reach is pretty lame for all the potential a transforming greatsword/halberd could have. I wish they put more effort into making it separate from Rebellion and then combined the two movesets plus summoned swords to make DMD.
I also really like DMD.
Cerberus in DMC3 was really garbage without the Swordmaster attacks, King Cerberus is a lot better even outside of Swordmaster
Rebellion forever. Best looking sword of the 3 and dmc5 gave us the best version of it.
dmc3 rebellion > dmc5 rebellion
prove me wrong
that's right you can't faggot
>We got a meme cerberus back
you know where you can shove that flaming boo stick
It's a lightning-spewing dragon sword, plus DMC1 nostalgia. I'm surprised it hasn't come back as a Rebellion reskin; then again 4 and 5 have both skimped out on costumes.
It might also be neat if they gave it unique Swordmaster moves, maybe play around with lightning abilities. I also wanted Sparda to have unique SM moves.
Will we get a devil sword for Vergil in the future?
His weapon is just going to be a fedorah.
I'm fine with him keeping Yamato. I just hope he gets something to replace Beowulf and Force Edge in his DLC.
I'm also wondering if they'll give him new ranged weapons to use instead of Summoned Swords. He doesn't like guns, but it might be cool if he had like a bow or some oversized shuriken.
People who hate DSD's look are weak spinned pansies. This is a fact.
I didnt give a fuck about sparda's flesh sword in dmc1. alastor all the way. plus sparda is trish's sword. MMMMUTHER AND FFFFATHER
>The angel that presided on my birth
>Said little creature formed of joy and mirth
>Go love without the help of any thing on Earth
I hate this one.
I remember it's DT moves being useful at least, not sure whether that plays into it any.
I like it, but his other one is better.
Dante should be for SDT only, and Rebellion for normal DT/human
I'm a total alastorfag. for me it's just the looks, and electricity. the sword didn't do anything interesting except zap your butt when a boss appeared.
I find the rebellion bland and generic, there are a dozen swords with a skull on them.
>yeah just stay extremely near the enemies so that you have to interrupt cat animations for dodge all the time
>yeah just play a high risk low reward game instead of low risk high reward passive poetry night gameplay
Sure V "can" be fun if you REALLY fucking love summoners, but you could do the same, and much more with Dante or Nero.
I prefer the way Rebellion looks, but DSD plays much better, especially if you want to always be on the offensive
Sparda is soul edge, I can't give that up.
It's pretty much the flagship sword of DMC1. There's no reason not to use it. Its introduction is pretty memorable, too.
So says the tryhard that thinks everyone but him is insincere.
>meme cerberus
What is wrong with you? Why are you like this?
Is the PC version of the HD collection any good? I didn't even realize there was a PC release for the collection until a few days ago; I'd just been emulating.
yes its runs fine
I like DSD
It's big without being flashy, people might say it looks boring but it's kinda how I prefer my fantasy swords to look
Alastor looks like something out of a cartoon with the giant dragon head and wings and the blade gradually getting bigger towards the point.
Tomboy is unga bunga mode
It can do a shitload of damage
I start off the chicken fight with Tomboy first and can take off one half to one third of it's health
Same, I Nero was my least favorite
>Absolutely love Rebellion but wish it got some new tech
>Then DSD comes into existance
I came hard.
Balrog is awesome. I love punching stuff then kicking it then punch it again. But seriously.
Tomboy's activation/deactivation can juggle enemies and it just does a fuckton of damage, its combo can carry multiple enemies as well.
