I found it really underwhelming. I was really looking for these gunslinger moves but they turned out meh.
The shotgun stinger does loads of damage though and I've seen some people use the neutral gunslinger one for repeated knockbacks in the air for some stylish combos.

I can't wait until someone actually has a detailed breakdown on non-boss DT mechanics.

For bosses, it seems pretty consistent: they all go into DT when they're at like 15-20 percent health.

But for regular enemies, I swear that some of the DT after like 2-3 sword slashes, while others don't go into DT until they're low health. The lizards in particular seem to DT the fastest.

I beat SoS last night and I'm intimidated by DMD mode.
So I decided to blow through Human mode and get all purple and blue orbs as well as all the Secret Missions.
This way I can S Rank Human mode as well or at least try too.
I'm currently on Mission 1.

Cerberus has a ton of good moves and strong crowd control, so you should at least start to learn it. You can complete SoS just fine with anything though.

How the fuck do I get an A Rank in Mission 5, i do pretty good on all fights sans the boss which I usually end with at least a B gauge on and I only get an A, no deaths. I just found out theres a secret level, does that impact style ranking/grade? I have almost all V's upgrades sans the EX Taunt, what am i doing wrong, i get S rank pretty quick on first or second redo as Dante or Nero

This is something a lot of people are forgetting when it comes to DMD rank running. Not getting hit is arguably even more important than getting SSS in combos.

Imagine if you only got B or A combos. As a result, your style points overall for combos at the end of the mission is 3,000 points. But you didn't get hit, which rewards you with the 2.0X score modifier for no damage AND the 1.2X score modifier for no continues.

3,000 X 2 = 6,000
6,000 X 1.2 = 7,200

7,200 points is a guaranteed S-Rank at the end in DMD, and even more so for lower difficulties.

I think its mostly because Dante just bombards you with options. You have 4 different styles, and a fuck ton of weapons to choose from on the fly. It's not like say 3 where you were restricted to 1 style and 2 weapons of each kind. For some I think the 4/5 system just causes a sort of sensory overload. I personally just end up settling on 2 or so styles and a set style of weapons.

Yep. The breakages are insanely good and all have their uses. I particularly love Rag Time, as it gives you time to safely set up Showdown. I also always bring a mixture of Overture and Buster Arm for bosses, because the damage is just too good.

You're doing the fight wrong. Use shadow to dodge, Griffon to V-electricity, then build DT for Nightmare and do the fuck you laser. Geryon Knight is easy as fuck even on H&H.

Cav's unique points is that every moves that activate Gear Wheel (where it hits enemies, lights up and spins) can be chained seamlessly with each other, along with the high damage and aoe making it good against groups and air juggle

Man, 200 points off. That hurts, not as much as my 11 points off though. Anyway, style system is based on enemies hit and killed, as well as time passed while at certain ranks. So if you can spend like a minute in SSS you'll get a higher style points. So the trick is to not only get up to those ranks, but kill things. Big enemies give big style, so killing them with high rank gives s big multiplier to them.

With any other weapon, exploitable moves give so little style you need to constantly swap and moves that would give good style either take too long to come out or leave you open. With Balrog, all you need to do is enter blow mode and melee melee melee until the flame is ignited then faceroll buttons for automatic SSS

In the old novels, Mundus created Gilver, who has been retconned as a clone of Vergil to haunt Dante. Mundus also created a clone Dante that went after Vergil, but never found him. The clones fate is unknown. Gilver was going to be in the game but was taken out when they found that adding him in after scrapping the female V with Mundus clone was going to be too complicated. Matt and Itsuno both confirmed this in a video.

Balrog you just need to focus on igniting the flames, then play like you're Nero at his most UNGA
Max swordmaster makes it a lot better though like all of the other weapons; real impact is fucking easy as shit to combo into in this game, and you can get SSS easily with Balrog alone thanks to the blow/kick mode swaps and IGNITE THE FLAMES giving a large style boost every time you do it
I unironically play Dante with just DSD and Balrog equipped since Calv is fun but feels too slow for me, and I haven't taken the time to git gud at Cerb yet because Balrog is too fucking fun

Dante gets to fight Cavalier and Demon King Urizen which are one of the best but Nero gets 2 fights against Urizen that you're supposed to lose but can win if you're good which is vydia as fuck.

After female V with Mundus Camille was scrapped, they decided to add Gilver into the story. When that became too complicated to add in, they went along with the V you know now, only he had a taste for business suits.

Regardless, I'd much rather have 3 or better yet, 4's ranking system in DMC5's missions 8, 10, 12, and 18. While I wouldn't get DMC3's SS, at least my S would be fucking guaranteed.

get fucked enough to know their attack patterns, you end up blocking everything while using other styles normally. Vergil's fight is perfect for training, you can keep a constant SSS with it.

Gunslinger is the best it's ever been in DMC5 though and it's got great Kalina Ann/Faust moves. I alternate swordmaster and gunslinger pretty frequently while using trickster to get around

It would encourage more use of Break Ages and breakaways at higher level play knowing you will eventually get that arm back/you won’t feel compelled to put your favorite breaker in every other slot so it’s never too far away.

Fair enough, 2 bars would work.

Another idea would be that recycled breakers stay “dark” and cannot be used until Nero hits S Rank, at which point they reactivate. Something to let you really cycle them around in combat more freely without enabling Break Age cheese.

Obviously it would be a skill that is only available after clearing SOS, like Irregular Full Custom.

I used to have Shoot and Breaker attack reversed but I hated that I couldn't charge my breaker easily and that I had no grapple because I couldn't bit B for the grab without releasing X. At this point I just work in the charge shot system when I can, always come to a fight with it loaded but I can't do the charge shot 3 like I could in 4 because theres nowhere to put it that I can hold without compromising my other fingers.

Cavaliere, Cerberus, final Urizen, Griffon/Shadow/Nightmare, and Vergil are all great fights. Dante easily has the best line-up. That said DMC5 has pretty solid bosses, some are weaker than others but even the worst ones aren't downright awful like some stuff in previous games.

Angelos on DMD are insanely tanky though, makes that fight way longer.
