Aren't you able to toggle between her base form and the one she gets during the first Lostbelt?

All I know is she's forced to use the new outfit in some Lostbelt content, but it's not like you can never use the old version of Mash outside of that. Am I also right in assuming skill leveling her new outfit skills just carries over from whatever level her base skills were, or do I have to level those from scratch?
