Also, the role reversal is genuinely very poorly handled. This is not how a role reversed Link should be like, historically Zelda was ALWAYS (even when she was a damsel in distress) the one who was aware of what's going on, she's the one who gives Link his fucking quest since LTTP.

But here he's just a Disney princess who most likely has a song about wanting MORE.

This is to much of a over correction. While I agree with you that modern depictions of Samus have flopped completely, and failed to capture the original theme. The key is simple. Leave her as is, and have her be a normal woman that is attractive. Then put the suit on, and keep it on for almost the entire game. If you want to play with the idea of her being attractive in your story, or whatever that is fine, but play it straight nosed, and don't go over the top with it. If you have to have characters know who she is, then have any comments on it be dealt with something simple, not over the top. A stare from a silent visor. A redirection to current events "The elevator." don't play up the other person as being a over the top nerd either. You could make it a genuine love interest, or don't, but certainly don't set up a character as having romantic interest in Samus while also being a villain.

Basically, you are wrong about everything, you fail at your own agenda, and you fail at making Metroid games.
