Replayed the PS1 games for Halloween last year.
Other than a bit of camera fuckery they hold up really well. I much prefer the first to the sequel especially in regards to the humour and the Hall of Heroes but the second does have the sexy mummy.
How I ever beat that boxing boss fight as a kid I'll never know.

This. Good spooky fun adventures appeal to most people.

Just like with the Spyro games, I'm pretty much "I still have and love the original, so eh, what's the point?" That and fear of bad remakes.

Unlike Spyro, there are things that a remake can potentially fix that you can't get from playing the original.
Like the pirate platforming section.

Spyro could've fixed some issues in the third game like the yeti boxing and fucked up camera angles at times. Not sure if they did though. I was pretty turned off by the divided art direction and how they handled visual aspects of those games and never touched them.

Besides the camera like mentioned, I think it really does still hold up not just as a playstation 1 game but as a great game in general. Fun levels, fun enemies, nice soundtrack, perfect atmosphere for that type of game genre, and as said its a game that almost anyone can enjoy, even to this day.

I hope they keep him as he is. New moves could work would be nice but I have no hope for that. The trailer showed the graveyard dogs being recolored so I guess is still possible..

Soundtracks were the biggest thing for me.

Difficulty options with an unlockable extra hard difficulty that drastically changes things.

Challeges and secrets to unlock weapons (besides the ones gained by the chalices) and apparel.

If you do all the challenges and secrets you also unlock the original game with the og graphics.

Some of said weapons and apparel you unlock don't have to fit the timeline of the game and could be weapons from medievil 2 like the minigun and
cane stick and apparel like the golden armor, the suit you wear on a level of medievil 2 among other things.

Option to play with something similar to souls combat with lock on, and a side-step-like dodge with NO i-frames since that would make things too easy

Don't know about this one. Honestly I'm not sure it would be a good idea. Medievil is more suited for single player and getting absorbed in the atmosphere I think.

Hopefully they don't rape the OST like most remasters/remakes do. That was one of the best parts.

So far it looks like they removed the blood which is a big nono from me. Hope they maintain the atmosphere, it was pretty spooky with the ps1s low draw distance alone.
