I thought you were asking trigger from ace combat vs FF6 and thought this would be an interesting thread, but it wasn't
the answer is star ocean 2 anyway
Both were highly rated for their graphics, while Chrono Trigger offered an interesting concept on top of graphics.
Seriously, Square Enix should just remake Chrono Trigger from scratch. While giving us the ability to add people to our party from any timeline. Bonus points if you can determine/recruit their offspring from a future timeline.
Star ocean 2 is a great game why did this and lunar need to die
Alternatively, that one capcom rpg using the same engine that never got translated.
star ocean died because every game after is was pretty bad
FF6, Cross was unironically better than Trigger
People say 3 is good and I couldn't get through it clunky as shit. I didn't hate 4 besides the retarded characters and kaaaaay. Never played 5 but apparently it's an abortion
Chrono trigger is better because the story is more compelling. I like how they worked with real life events like the apocalypse on 1999 and the meteor that killed dinosaurs, as well as the ice age.
you mean every star ocean after 3 is bad
Both are pleb tier. Play Nocturne.
I hear the biggest complaints about 5 was that it was way too short, which seems like a non-complaint to me
I ain't got time for 90 hour JRPGs anymore
no I definitely mean after 2, because 3 was especially bad
Chrono Trigger is a much better game
FFV for actual gameplay. CT for presentation. 6 for nihilism, intelligence, and a wicked sense of humor.
>Square Enix should remake Chrono Trigger
Both are amazing,if I have to choose one I would say Final Fantasy VI.
both overrated trash
Xenogears is
FF6 was way better. CT's characters are all mediocre.
>games without any meaningful role-playing mechanics
>GOAT RPG
ff6 had way too many pointless and undeveloped characters
what game user?
>FF6
>posts FFIII
Huh?
KIll yourself WRPG-Kun
Easily Chrono Trigger. I've never understood the hard on for FFVI, maybe I would had I played it at release. Somethings like the opera and phantom train were pure kino but the rest was kinda unremarkable in my opinion.
Based Cross fans, always like to see the high IQ option getting some love
Playing it right now and at this Ramsus fight on disc 2. What were they thinking giving him an attack that drains everyones gear to 1hp AND having another fight directly after?
Gogo and Umaro were the only two 'undeveloped' characters. Keep in mind in 95, characters were not getting fleshed out like they are today. Hell, even Gogo is lore from ff5, though none of us in the US knew that at the time.
Trigger literally had no developed characters & all them where bland self insert blank slates
I go back and forth on it. Depends on how light hearted I'm feeling. Also, Chrono Trigger can be completed very quickly, like 12~ hours, even faster on NG+. That can be good sometimes.
I would say that they're my two favorite single player games.
that is completely untrue, the only real blank slate was Crono and that dude was mute
