A lot of Gen 5 Pokemon evolve late compared to similar Pokemon from other generations. Mienfoo evolves at Level 50, Vanillish evolves at Level 47, Klink evolves at Level 49, Tynamo evolves into its second-stage at Level 39 while Litwick does at Level 41, Pawniard evolves at 52, Rufflet/Vullaby at 54, etc. Most Gen 1 Pokemon will have reached their final stage by Level 30 or there about, whereas Gen 5 Pokemon tend to reach it around the late 30's or mid 40's (obviously there are some outliers with both, but nothing as extreme as fucking Hydreigon). Since you could only obtain Gen 5 Pokemon in the original B/W (at least until postgame), their evolution levels were scaled differently compared to other generations, which can make things awkward when they're re-used in later games - hence you have shit like kid's catching Mienfoo in XY's Route 8, not knowing they're going to need to train it 35 levels before it becomes Mienshao, which in-and-of itself isn't a particularly exceptional Pokemon.

Random encounters only exist because 3rd gen consoles couldn't handle the amount of overworld sprites it would take to convey enemies in real time.
seeing a shiny roam about would be so much better than the tedium of seeing the same screen over and over and over again, plus add the thrill of the chase.
Hell, keep random encounters if it's a cave/dark area, because it works.

The lore implications of legendaries spiralled out of control in Gen 4. Gen 1, 2, and 3 they are just rare or powerful pokemon that get increasingly more powerful with the generations in terms of abilities. It was inevitable they were going to pull out the shit they did in Gen 4, but that was the crossing of the line. Even if they aren't my favourites, the Hoenn trios exemplify what legendary pokemon should be for the most part. Lugia/Ho-Oh too.

Nope, I meant Gen III. The Land/Sea/Air trio are "basically" gods of their domains, those being tangible elements of the world and pokemon typing. It feels natural to me that there might be pokemon such as Kyogre/Groudon/Rayquaza and the Regis about, and that there even might well be multiple of them since the claims of their power never came off to me as being earth-impacting. Maybe they were intended to be and I missed it, it's been a long time since I played Gen 3 since I don't like the games all that much, but that was my impression.

Gen 4 takes shit to a level past that and it feels silly, now you're dealing with time and space warping one of a kind pokemon and God: pokemon edition.

I'd argue that Gen 4 and 6 have the most "eh" designs. Very little stands out as exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. The two gens felt extremely inert in terms of designs, discounting the megas because I barely ever saw them due to not being into competitive.

Gliscor is ok, but that doesn't make me wrong. At least 70% of Gen 4's designs range from mediocre to shit, the remaining 30% no matter how good they are cannot make up for it. Shiny chance increases a lot in the utlra wormholes, you can unlock an option in the PC that shows the rough IVs of a pokemon which is a lot better than having to speak to an NPC like in ORAS, you can leave pokemon in the Pelago to EV train while you sleep/work and the Battle Tree is fine, though it could be better.

I would have liked USUM's postgame more if you could have more refightable strong trainers - the league challengers is a good idea but not everyone has a full team of 6, and the RR opponents are one offs. That said it was super comfy for getting competitive teams together, I still get a lot of fun off battle spot and playing with friends.

again these designs are pretty easy to understand why they are good. a good pokemon design contains an attractive color scheme, reasonable proportions, and carries a clear personality for itself from its art alone. a good pokemon design can be simple or complex. there's probably a bunch of rules to making a drawing attractive to the eye like a layman such as myself doesn't know.
mind you i think gen 5 has more good pokemon than either gen 6 or 7 but that's not to say that gen 6 or 7 are stinkers but that they simply don't have enough new pokemon compared to gen 5.

Only one I don't agree with is Tsareena but the rest are pretty great.

Pokemon design quality over time isnt really a straightforward thing, certain types have improved over time in terms of design, some have decreased.
The real cancer of the past 2 gens is the obsession with anthropomorphizing the starters. They feel more like single characters rather than a species.
