I am forgotten

Well duh, the sequel is out this year.

that'd feel waay too undercooked
it's only been like 500+ days since the final DLC
an Alpha Demo near the holidays maybe

>the sequel
Speaking of the sequel, which way would you love the series to go, the Ninja Gaiden way of faster visceral action, more combos, traditional linear structure or the Souls way of slower deliberate action, complex free level design and thick atmosphere?

It's Koei Tecmo though so I can already smell the disappointment coming. We can probably expect more retarded story bullshit with a million cutscenes no one cared about, some new flashy animu gimmick and more looty-looty retardation.

Also yeah, no way it's coming out this year.

There was nothing wrong with Nioh.
Feel free to go back to Soulsborne and stay there.

Story was meh and enemies and stages were recycled a lot

I'd like it to stay where it is.

I'd like to see it faster but same is alright

>Story was meh
So? Story in a game is unimportant.

>Enemies and stages were recycled a lot
Those were optional stages. You still had 15 unique story levels.
Nothing wrong with that given how the enemies were fun to fight. I take that over every area having different enemies but said enemies being lame.

I don't know whether to drop this game or not. I'm not even past the first boss on the ship because I'm a scrub. On the one hand I like the themes and general linear level design but on the other hand I didn't even realise there are combos in this game, I literally just though it was strong/weak attack. also picking up loot is really fucking annoying, it really slows down the gameplay and going into a menu every few minutes sucks.

I understand that it's my fault for constantly comparing it to dark souls but they are the only parts of the game I like. I hate fighting games and learning combos and loot games are boring too. tips for improving my experience, I do want to like the game or should I just drop it. the only thing really driving me is my own stubbornness to overcome the difficulty but thats about it.

If you find the combos and loot system annoying, you should drop the game right now; it gets "worse" as you progress.
Source: right now I'm on Way of the Wise (the game's name for NG+++).

the only aspect of nioh I dislike is the diablo loot and ever increasing micro management of gear.

I think we'll get a surprise announcement at E3 and the alpha will be available after the presentation.

800 hours in, what now?

Attached: 6.jpg (1024x576, 220K)

i'll stick with it, at least to see the next area and find a weapon and combos I like. thanks anons.

Ninja Gaiden
Nioh felt for me like it didn't know what it wanted to do and was stuck in the middle
I wish there was a mode that makes the equipment not important at all.

what weapons are you using?
you're meant to stay behind him for the first part and probably mid stance so you can block some of his claw attacks
if you constantly stay on his back he has 2 moves that can hit you: clockwise ball and chain spin and anti-clock reverse sweep, then he can do another anti-clock reverse sweep with his claws when his chain is broken
when his chains are broken, the safest method would be to bait his overhead double fist slam and wait for his 3 sweeps then bodyslam
I'm sure his ball throws are unblockable and must be ran from or dodged, he might combo into an overhead slam after a claw sweep and his balls have lingering hitboxes after a clockwise spin

I'm sure you'll overcome it once you learn his patterns

since it's going to have character creation, i'd say it's more likely to have less cutscenes and story shit than the first game

I agree with you, but for me the game become much more enjoyable after reaching DLC stages and higher difficulties, because of increased enemy variety.

I had similar issues, but once I got past the first boss everything just "clicked" and I didnt have any problem with the rest of the game (except for meme-tier optional bosses).

Playing through second dlc right now. The game has so much replay value I love it

I think they could simplify the loot system by removing all the sub-divine rarities and integrating the + value as a method of tracking gear progression, even in NG. That way you could stick with your starter gear (and upgrade it as you go), and it would be immediately obvious which gear is better because it would have a + value attached to it.

I never beat you.

We had an excellent Nioh thread the other night, lets make it a thing.

you can sort by + though and that does not mean gear is better. It becomes all about what sets abilities you wanna take and make them work on the wpn you are using. A high plus wpn helps but by the time it matters you will be using abyss to forge higher plus gear than you will get in the main game anyway.

I loved the story man. Seeing Kelley pop on screen and be fucking evil for shit and giggles before teleporting away never got old for me. Most cutscenes were kino, really, if you count the 2d animated bits. Loved those.

Attached: 1243127984.jpg (1280x720, 357K)

>story is unimportant
Fuck you John Carmack if I wanted meaninglessness I’d pick up a shooter or Mount & Blade, give me something to care about between set pieces

I bought it and played it for like an hour or two, then went back to bloodborne. I really need to play this game through.

No, please drop the game.
This game is clearly not for you and the last thing Nioh needs is another shitposter relentlessly attacking the threads.
Please. I beg you.

Go watch a movie then.
Giving importance to story is one of the things that ruined videogames so much.

>Nobunaga going back to the afterlife because he thinks that he already had his chance at "the game" and doesn't regret how he played it.
That was pretty cool.

Nioh has a lot of problems but leave Ninja Gaiden for Ninja Gaiden.

Attached: Kunai Tempest.webm (900x506, 2.94M)

there are threads about this game literally ever day on Yea Forums, what are you talking about? how is this "forgotten"?

B agility lmao noob, get those S ranks

Attached: YokoisM.png (309x447, 191K)

what a fucking shit taste. Story has been applied to vidya since almost forever. Just because you give a player motivation for something doesn't mean it has to mean game play is bad.

>still no new info, new trailer, or even a release date
It's been fucking months. Stop announcing games so damn early.

>tfw Ryu Hayabusa shows up as a boss fight in the final DLC
I still haven't beat him

>Story has been applied to vidya since almost forever.
Yeah, as a single sentence excuse for the action
"The evil demon lord has kidnapped the princess! save her and save the kindgom!"

>Just because you give a player motivation for something doesn't mean it has to mean game play is bad
The motivation is the game itself, the pleasure and entertainment obtained from playing the game. A story more complex than the excuse plot is just a crutch used to support a mediocre or terrible game, or an annoyance that ruins a good game.

A good game gets an unfair low score and therefore low sales because "muh story"
A shit game gets high scores, universal praise and billions of sales on launch day because "muh story".
How is that fair?

Exactly where it's at. Souls is boring and has cheesy fight mechanics. Ninja Gaiden while fun is too cartoony. Leave the latter for the hack n slash CUHRAZY babies.

It's Jin Hayabusa, his ancestor, but yeah he uses Ryu's moveset. Specifically his moveset from Warrior's Orochi, but only for the sword.

you really think story was overplayed in Nioh? Shit was barebones and not a whole lot beyond giving you reason to progress and tying the setting into historical events and characters.

they said they would show it early this year
but with sekiro coming out they probably want to wait a bit

Yes, it was barebones, and I liked it for that. I played the game for the game itself. The only plot I needed was "voldemort stole your fairy, get your fairy back".
Meanwhile you think the game is shit because it wasn't a Witcher-esque epic where you spend 60 hours going through dialog trees, or you can't do a pacifist run where you finish the game without fighting a single time.

I actually had to five the game a bad review since they didnt have the balls to let you romance Otukatsu. Ah well, does Sekiro have a cute jap girl at least?

Attached: wj38o4d.jpg (960x540, 38K)

No.

dude im not the other person and I am a bit drunk on red wine. I think we have been bros on this issue all along and not realized.

Still doesn't excuse the fact they announced a game with no release date.
Companies need to stop doing this shit. If it isn't coming out within a year, don't come out and make a big show about it.

was meant for

Attached: V0N71nDKQlBHg-tZ5CAicmrnE3IoBRiPed-mUFXfzFA.jpg (702x783, 115K)

Damn shame

why would you think William was interested. He was not a stand in for you. He was his own character and his sheath was celtic fairy right from the start.

It's okay; Sekiro shouldn't be played by cancer like you.
Were you the same guy who wrote that VC4 negative review out of spite because you couldn't romance Minerva.

>blue female eyes
I smell western waifu

Fuck it, i'm gonna pirate it and try it out. Dunno why I ignored it for so long.

They've already confirmed Nioh 2 has CaC stuff. So yes, you can make another filthy gaijin to stomp around Nipland.

Don't. If you weren't interested back when it was released, then the game isn't of your liking.

>CaC stuff
what?

>make a big show about it
It wasn't a big show; just a brief cinematic.

Medicore game. The story, setting and characters were all as dull as the enemies and stages. Combat was the only good thing about it, it could have been so much better a game.

Souls-like character creation.

Advice is stay mobile, use your skills, use items. The game is quite fair in terms of your abilities vs enemies. People have trouble because they dont bother learning the game and just try to treat it like a souls game. Granted the game expects you to experiment and figure some stuff out on your own but guides now exist for all that.

create a character

with no release date

Souls babies always ruined Nioh threads.
They can't adapt to anything besides roll and R1 spam

>Souls-like
Souls did not invent character creation. Stop being dumb.

Yeah but that's definitely not the player character

Fuck you faggot, I do what I want, already 4/40GB done. When the game came out it was some shitbox exclusive so of course I wasn't interested. I got tired of the souls formula after demon's and dark but fuck it I like samurai shit.
I like the idea of it being faster paced than souls games, i'll probably suck but its not like there's anything for me to lose.

...you're right; I was just thinking about Souls because Soulsborne fans were the ones asking the most about a character creator.
I'll delete my post right now.

like the first game but i want 2 small changes the game is hard enough i want a fixed number of elixirs every time you sit on a kodama shrine i hated specially in the first part of the game farming those things and change every time you die you lose your spirit im okay with losing amrita but not my guardian and is bullshit having to reclaim and losing all your amrita

the combat was fine as it is but I'd like a more Dark Souls-style open/interconnected level design

the game expects you to abuse its mechanics against it too. Dont think every fight needs to be some epic honorable duel, use your shit to chain lock , confuse and decimate enemies and bosses because as you progress up the difficulty ladder the game adapts as if you had been doing those kinds of things anyway. Also dont worry about armor sets and creating a great wpn until 3rd playthrough unless you really want to. Get stats for Kingo set and you can play many styles easilly.

Goddammit. Well, I warned you. Please don't come here bitching here if you didn't like the game.
That said, have in mind something: at least on NG and NG+ you don't need to grind for specific armor sets, or grind at all. As long as you level up the relevant stats and replace your current equipment for new drops with higher ATK / DEF values you'll be fine.
Learn to ki pulse so you can extend your combos and experiment with the different stances.
Guns are intended to be used; they complement your fighting. By OHK an enemy from afar you can make encounters against groups of enemies easier.

Have fun. I love the game, but for some reason a good amount of Yea Forums seems to hate the shit out of it.

Sekiro vs Nioh 2?
Nioh already has better combat than anything From shits out, if they just improve on the enemies or level design they've won.

I never used debuffs or status effects on bosses and still did fine. Right now I finished the first mission on Way of the Wise and still I haven't need to (but fuck me if the game didn't ramp up the difficulty).

The real problem with Nioh comes in the new game+ modes. Far too much grinding for divine and ethereal items, then spending untold amounts of gold on soul matching to increase the levels

I love this game and I really, really hope that they don't listen to souls fags. game was perfect for me, all I would change is a more easily sorted and purged loot system. most people dont realize it gets better in ng+ because you can just sift for divine and use trash for parts, but I understand if not everyone wants to do that.

I hope the story spends time in Europe, it seems like they put a lot of effort into making events In London look and feel 'right' but different, and finding out at the end what sort of creature Saorise is seemed like a huge hint to me. Would be really cool to see Kelpies, Alarunes, Bandhees, etc if they set Nioh2 in Ireland or Scotland

You don't need to, at least on Way of the Strong and Way of the Demon. The regular drops give you enough divine items to go through the game.
No idea about ethereal.

>I hope the story spends time in Europe

Awful

>if they set Nioh2 in Ireland or Scotland
Are you retarded? It's already stupid enough that the plot revolves around england as much as it did

>I hope the story spends time in Europe
are you retarded?

>I love this game and I really, really hope that they don't listen to souls fags. game was perfect for me, all I would change is a more easily sorted and purged loot system. most people dont realize it gets better in ng+ because you can just sift for divine and use trash for parts, but I understand if not everyone wants to do that.
...Are you me?

Why is the blacksmith so useless in this game...

Because she has no depth perception

Attached: Shrug.png (1266x712, 719K)

I liked Nioh though and can't wait for Nioh 2.

because you're a retard

>Bad review because muh waifu shit
Back to your VNs cancer

Nioh 2. Sekiro just doesnt seem to have much outside of jumping and shit.

You had some problems.

I am looking somewhat forward to Nioh 2, though.

Attached: Hope I don't have to do this 30 times.webm (280x158, 2.85M)

>From Software stopped making action RPGs for the near future
>The upcoming games on the genre are Nioh 2, Code Vein, The Surge 2 and Lords of the Fallen 2.
>Three of them are sequels of games that the Soulsborne fanbase absolutely loathed and the fourth is "anime shovelware trash"
>From Software's next game is basically their answer to Devil May Cry

I wonder how the Soulsborne fanbase feels right now.

>280x150

>antposters

>answer to Devil may cry
In what fucking sense?

Nioh was fairly well-liked, though. Especially in comparison to The Surge and LOTF

>how come this minute-long webm isn't 1280x720???
Retards.

>he doesn't know

I hate dishonest posts like this one.
There is a shrine near the stairs that lead to the boss.

A pure action game.
Maybe I worded it wrong. I meant "From Software's own Devil May Cry-like game", not "Game to compete directly against Devil May Cry 5".

>I wonder how the Soulsborne fanbase feels right now.
Bad.

It's japanese so gets a pass

>From Software's own Devil May Cry-like game
It looks nothing like DMC, not even DMC 1

Attached: 1538045785583.jpg (1280x1440, 147K)

>Nioh was fairly well-liked, though.
Not between Soulsborne fans. I stopped recommending Nioh to them for that very reason.

It looks nothing like a DMC-like game.DMC is a fast paced hack-n-slash and the only thing that has a similar like feeling to Souls games is the boss fights.

I'm playing the nioh right now and enjoying it. is the DLC worth it?

Nobunaga truly was 10/10 and the actual man would've done the same in his position.
Also love how his armor is silver instead of black like the Samurai Warriors' Nobunaga

>There is a shrine near the stairs that lead to the boss.
Not that I ever found.
Still doesn't make dying in one or two hits no matter the difficulty any less anti-fun.

>is the DLC worth it?
They're pretty short, but if they're not too expensive I'd say yeah. They add a lot of content to the main game too -- extra NG+s and a couple mobs, plus all of the DLC armor and weapons get added to the lootpools.

Absolutely.
Prepare to get your balls kicked.

>Sekiro is somehow an answer to DMC
no, user
no it is not

Damn even Nioh threads don't last anymore. Feels bad man.

It's better that way.
Only a few people talking about a game they like > billions of cancerous threads.

You can easily make a minute long video that isn't ant sized my guy.

>Not between Soulsborne fans
Who the fuck do you think bought it, who do you think forced the camera system to change in the first beta to that of a Souls game.

>Who the fuck do you think bought it
People with interest on action RPGs or action games, not Soulsborne fans.
- If you ask any Soulsborne community what do they think about Nioh, they'll tell you nothing but negative things about it.
- Bloodborne sold 3 million copies on PS4; Nioh barely sold above 1 million.
- Dark Souls PTDE sold 3 million copies on Steam; meanwhile Nioh Complete Edition sold 500k copies
- Of all my Steam friends list I'm the only one who owns Nioh; meanwhile almost all of them own at least one Dark Souls game (in fact they're randoms I played Souls co-op with and added me after helping them).

Soulsborne fans bitched about the beta only to not buy the game. It's not the first time something like that happens.

Nioh's sold about 2.5 million copies

2.5 million copies on two platforms, the biggest platforms to boot.
That's fucking nothing and pretty much proves my point.

it's pretty decent for a new IP in a niche genre from a less popular publisher

and certainly decent enough to apparently justify a sequel

As a Soulsfag, I can tell you you're wrong, and your logic is bad.

If everyone plays Souls games, and many people have problems with Nioh, that's not the same thing as Soulsfags by and large hating Nioh.

Now having said that, I would say that Nioh, in my opinion, compares unfavorably in more than a few ways with Souls games. However, I bought it, I played it, I enjoy it for what it is.

It's not forgotten to me until more sequel news comes out

Any advice on inventory management? Just finished the Iga Escape and I've been trying to keep it quick and simple, going through my loot for any obvious upgrades and then disassembling the rest. I'm guessing disassembling is the way to go unless I need money? And as far as gearing goes, should I just go with whatever sets I find? It's been working okay so far with Warrior of the West to Red Dragon. Not sure how much if anything changes toward the endgame

Disassemble purples, sell the rest.

actually worth playing, esp before sekiro

So many things wrong here. Why play Kate odachi but then let Kate simply sit there? Your first move should be to b line to him and crack a crystal so you can LW when the health got low.

yep that's pretty much the sum of it, I basically keep 2 of every weapon and 2 sets of armor in addition to what I wear, and break down the rest. just keep an eye out for inheritable you may want, marked with the []>[] symbol. everything else you can just mill into blacksmith gear

>Any advice on inventory management?
Well, you only -really- need Spirit Iron, and only that until NG+. When gear is getting up into the hundreds of Levels, it's easier to just farm for a piece and re-roll all the Skills you want on it, than to Forge it from scratch, so Tamahagane, Wood, and other mats aren't really very necessary. They're also all incredibly easy to amass quickly.

On the other hand, Soul Matching will remain hugely expensive forever, even after maxing out Soul Matching Cost Reduction.

I would therefore recommend just selling anything you're not using, or planning to use to Soul Match a piece of gear you really like.

>And as far as gearing goes, should I just go with whatever sets I find?
The best sets in NG are Way of the West and Guardian of the Li, for basically the same reason: Close Combat Attack (Enemy Electrified/Burning). I would say West is the better of the two, because Electrified is such a good debilitation, and it has better Toughness and defense.

>Not sure how much if anything changes toward the endgame
A lot. You'll be getting access to way more set bonuses and way higher levels of gear. You'll basically have to completely reinvent your entire character.

Cheers anons.

LW is gay.

Once you get muramasa and put points into rare drop chance on disassemble it is definitely more creative than selling them outright, you can always sell the parts.

None of them matter until you beat the game anyways. I would argue offering in way of the samurai is better since you get levels and consumables. Higher difficulties shit out so much amrita, but in the first one you constantly get better drops than your current kit, no point in investing money into something that will go obsolete at the end and what you will get is a pittance compared to later. Not even worth saving up until later.
IMO the Amrita is worth it, I would get an extra one or two levels doing this, build a up your elixir stockpile as well as your small crystals so you can use living weapon whenever you want.

That's cool, it if you willingly gimp yourself you shouldn't call the game bullshit.

Didn't call the game bullshit. Sait it has a problem with enemies killing you too fast (and dying too fast).
>These two enemies here
>If one of them even grazes me I will die
>Kill them in 14 seconds though if I don't get hit
It's a problem.

Attached: Nioh_ Complete Edition_20190316133129.webm (660x371, 2.66M)

cancelled after doa6 flop sorry

I never use West because it takes away your passive rear attack bonus and trades it for a smaller one for all combat.

Imo Iga is the best because you get unlimited quickchange.

Only in the higher difficulties, they are pretty much balanced around yo uh abusing LW.

how is it a problem
why do you want games where both the player and enemies just have shitloads of health and you both stand there smacking each other

>Guardian of the Li
you mean Red Demon? also it's Ii

Its odd, I beat both demos and enjoyed it, but I've heard so much negativity that I just figured I'd wait for a sale. And now I'm like, maybe I should just wait for the sequel.

>be Raven Tengu
>smashing bake gaijin all damn day
>some sneaky nigga throws salt on me
>now I have asthma and cannot hurricane kick
>wtf

yokai life is rough, bros

I just meant for NG, 'cause it's super easy to use Paired Raiken Guardian Spirit Talismans and then get that sick CCD bonus while you acclimate to the game.

My overall favorite set is Kingo.

>how is it a problem
You can't make any mistakes. If you get hit, you get to runback. And if you get a lucky AI pattern, you might even just kill the boss without learning anything. It's bad from both direction.

>why do you want games where both the player and enemies just have shitloads of health and you both stand there smacking each other
hURr iF U DoN WaNT WoN tINg Yu MussT wANt DA OthR

Fucking retard.

No you aren't! I only finished you two weeks ago!

at least you ain't a wheelmonk
every time I want to go to the corner store to pick up some sake, I get a massive headache just going there, not to mention every time I cough or sneeze, I end up burning down someone's house

>you mean Red Demon?
Oh, yeah.

use quickchange scrolls they make it bearable

I don't see why. It's most likely not coming out till next year and it's not like you'd be spoiling the experience for yourself by playing 1.
Also, while it definitely isn't perfect, the negativity is mostly crap from people who want it to be a Souls game, when it isn't.

After Sekiro comes out any desire to play Nioh will just completely disappear, it's now or never.

I sincerely doubt it, Sekiro looks like a vastly different experience from Nioh

>My overall favorite set is Kingo.
Forgot pic.

Attached: set.jpg (688x488, 170K)

Always a raw deal for wheelbros, when will it be their turn??

>be kappa
>have an itchy back
>ask guy with long toothpick to help scratch it
>beats me to death and takes all my jewelry

n..nani...

That makes no sense. They're completely different games.

>be one eye oni
>wanna grow tall and strong like big bro
>only way is to use amrita
>here comes a guy with a lot of amrita for some reason
>surely he won't mind sharing?

didnt know there was another set that has final blow damage at just two pieces.
Time to start hoping for an orange piece of it.

>hoping
not how it works. you're supposed to craft&defile these

I'm finally starting to catch up to my ps4 character.

Attached: Wirriam.webm (568x594, 2.94M)

Nah, mobs can drop orange gear.
