>game is mostly a character-study of Vergil. Highlighting his inferiority complex that drives his MOTIVATION >his subtle character progression from his time as V >Dante and Vergil fight over ideology; Dante believing strength is internal while Vergil thinks its external--something to be acquired >Dante chucking Griffon because he talks morethan Dante >the DMC1 bosses wanting to die, to end Vergil's nightmares as Nelo >Trish and Lady's perfect dialogue to Nero in the van >Nero's restrained freak out like he wants to punch something, but doesn't want to break Nico's stuff >Kyrie calming him when he feels exasperated >Nero only dt'ing after he learns the truth (literally ripping off Bleach) >his entire arc being the inverse of 3Dante, where it's about him accepting his demonic heritage >Earning both Dante and Vergil's acceptance by proving himself
Say what you will, but I quite enjoyed the story and don't think it's a 6/10 like people are saying. I understood the themes, arcs, and context for all the story beats without them over-explaining everything.
I think DMC5's story doesn't land as well in the west because so much of it is rooted in japanese ideology.
They view the concept of family, fighting and who you are as a person in a different way. This is sort of highlighted by Dante and Vergil's feud and why they're constantly trying to kill eachother despite not hating eachother. Nero is actually a more western/modern mindset hence the whole "Why are you fighting to the death dumbasses".
Juan Rogers
I agree with you, I actually greatly enjoyed the story, felt very clear to me and I could accept all the premises and happening. I love Nero a lot now and I am very happy with how they handled him obtaining his DT. I wrote this in another thread: Probably some anime shit, but: Dante and Vergil unlocks their demonic potential by fighting and because they want to fight and kill/defeat their enemies Nero unlocks his demonic potential because he want to protect and he wants Dante and Vergil to live instead of kill eachother This well-meaning humanity that made Nero unlock his DT makes it far stronger in power than Dante and Vergil who had a more savage and being part human has always been made a point as to why Dante is so strong, because he appreciates and taps into that humanity, now Nero is doing that 10x to unlock his demonic potential and it makes him extremely strong because his motivation that caused him to unlock it was human and filled with goodness and choosing the right path and about overcoming regrets
Angel Walker
>Dante and Vergil fight over ideology; Dante believing strength is internal while Vergil thinks its external--something to be acquired The problem with this one is we've already danced this dance much better in 3, and a clear conclusion was drawn; Dante defeated Vergil because he was right. In 5 Dante needs two external powerups to beat Urizen and he still can't beat Vergil afterwards, which just kinda shits on the entire point of 3.
Isaiah Carter
the story is poorly presented, had they go more in-deep about Dante and Vergil past( like showing how much they suffer after Eva dead, living in the streets stuff like that), Nero and Vergil could been done a lot better too. All the pieces are there but they did a poor job putting it together specially when 3 did most of it already and better.
Jackson Lewis
Don't try and make it deeper than it seems. Your rhetoric is just head canon inference of what is happening. Sounds good in your head but it's not actually there in substance for everyone to see. It's mediocre at best
Jackson Perez
>All the pieces are there but they did a poor job putting it together specially when 3 did most of it already and better.
That's because DMC5's story is way more ambitious than DMC3, but there's simply not enough game time to explore the 3 different characters and as a result the story feels undercooked and rushed.
DMC3 story works better because it focuses on fewer aspects, DMC5's story doesn't as a result feels messier.
Cooper Ross
6/10? More like 3/10
The plot is shit and the writing is horredous
Christopher Green
The fundamentals of the story are fine and actually pretty good, it's a tried and tested formula. The issue is that it's not established very well, the character roles in the story are perfect cutouts for any characters to fit in to, and they leave it at that. The weight of it comes from callbacks, which is fine and exactly what you'd expect from the fifth title in a franchise. But there is very little new, and even less that's interesting to the franchise. It's just that the story felt like it started around chapter 18, everything before was like a really slow exposure to the events and trying to create mystery surrounding V while simultaneously making it obvious what his role was.
I really don't care about the story though, it's not terrible, and it felt like a welcoming return, and I'm interested in what they have planned to follow.
Lucas Morgan
I agree, there was a lot more pieces involved with DMC5 and they didn't do a perfect job using all of its elements compared to say 3, which only had a few elements to balance. I did enjoy the high points while the rougher points of the plot are retroactively being smoothed out by how all the prequel works to 5 are fleshing out the characters. Would I prefer it have most of the development in the game itself? Of course but I'm just glad the gameplay is so solid to make up for it in the game at least.
Anthony Gray
It's the wide focus on the protagonist side but also the narrow focus on the antagonist side. You've got five missions where you fight Urizen and every mission before Urizen's defeat is, "Hurry up and reach Urizen." Arkham and Agnus provided opportunities for greater character development and interesting turns, 5 was really lacking that secondary antagonist figure. They honestly should have left V as unplayable, kept him as a bonus character (since they would have had Griffon, Shadow, and Nightmare's movesets built for their boss fight anyway), had Vergil resurrect earlier, and had another demon claim the fruit for the second half. Then you've got Dante, Vergil, and Nero trying to stop whoever took the fruit, complete with Nero interacting with Vergil and more character development for the three of them, and when that's sorted out you've got the Vergil showdown after.
Owen Bell
For DMC5's story to truly have worked it would have had to be a 30 mission game at the very least.
The game wants to tackle Nero looking up to Dante as a father figure, Vergil questioning his pursuit of power and embracing his humanity, Dante and Vergil's reason for fighting and existing; it's simply too much for the game to handle and the story just ends up feeling like a mess. V dropping the whole plot twist on Trish mid-game is such a perfect example of the game not really having the time to let the story properly develop.
Parker Hernandez
I don't really know where they can go with these characters from here. Dante and Nero basically both finished their character arcs (Dante honestly finished his in DMC3 and 1), and Vergil isn't really main character material. If they ever make DMC6, will they introduce a new protagonist again?
New protag with Nero in a more Dante'like mentor role is the only road forward for the canon imo.
John Sanchez
That or have the three diverging point missions as a single mission like 13. Missions 17-20 are all bosses so there definitely could be a bit more packed in them instead of just a single fight.
Dante and Nero plus Vergil tackling Mundus now. I think the reason they said that this was the end of their story was that mundus was supposed to be involved somehow judging by the pre e3 leak and a summary of the game. They changed it to latest since there will be at least one more arc involving dante and co and this time finish with mundus as an end of the arc.
Gabriel Reyes
They better make some reason for Mundus to be a threat again, all three characters got a huge jump in power so maybe all other potential kings of hell and other regions like fire hell all converge or something
DMC5 also establishes that Mundus got his power from the demonic fruit just like Vergil so they've basically opened the door for Mundus not being the most powerful demon in the DMC canon. Which was always a problem storywise.
John Cooper
Kyrie is pregnant, so I think it'll be a reboot-ish with Nero's son. Maybe just start a new series set in the same universe, I think that's the best case scenario
Tyler Flores
I agree with him, Vergil is great but I don't think he would make a great leading man.
Aaron Harris
>Dante, Vergil, Nero and [fourth character] take on [New Threat] Would seem like the obvious answer. They could also go the route of some other long-running series, and skip forward to unrelated future protagonists, with Dante & Vergil being absorbed into the background lore of some future setting. Nero could have kids, and they can have a whole new palette of character development. They can also just fudge continuity like they did with 3, to make room for a new theme.
the only good thing i liked about the story was ending, that was pretty kino and i was surprised but i thought V was a well written character, everything else was average
Lincoln Hill
With who? Trish? Lady? Some rando?
Jeremiah Cox
He's clearly not interested.
Juan Turner
Next DMC if any will be in the past, you play as Sparda and have to fuck Mundus' ass
>Dante, Vergil, Nero and [fourth character] take on [New Threat]
DMC5 already feels crowded as is. Is even more playable characters really the answer?
Levi Stewart
Maybe Dante and Vergil can attack a region of hell each while Nero deals with demons in the human world. Partway through they can meet up and take on mundus at the end. People have been mentioning Mundus is still alive and gathering power and like this user says we could get a similar scenario to 5 again. Problem is Vergil will never be playable in the mainline games so his campaign is probably dlc again.
Why? He'll just be Dante lite and I'd rather have Dante instead of some other character with the same personality.
Dylan Richardson
>Trish and Lady's perfect dialogue to Nero in the van ?
Luis Cox
>have vergil come back and get along with dante and nero >don't have a game centered around the three of them what's the point
Grayson Cook
Don't know about Trish but Lady does bring up the fact that killing your own father is something you never really get over.
Landon Ortiz
>like people Shitposters on Yea Forums aren't a general standpoint despite how much twitter wants it to be.
Landon Moore
Don't forget that Trish & Lady both aided the death of their father
Brody Wood
I don't know if I buy the scene. Lady has a good reason for talking about that, but Nero met Vergil literally five minutes ago. He should mean nothing to him.
Trish's only line was that she had her suspicions too about Nero's dad. Don't really know what's really perfect about that. Only Lady's line really gives it any weight. >Mean nothing to him Aside from having to shift between the motherfucker who took my arm into the realest flesh and blood he's got? It might be a stretch but at least they harkened back to Credo in terms of Nero's own "family"
Hudson Long
What about working with V?
Aaron Morgan
Nero still hasn't truly had his own game yet, he was the protag of both 4 and 5 but he still spent most of them in Dante's shadow. Even if he got the big finale of 5, Dante still saved his ass twice and defeated Urizen. DMC6 will be Nero's DMC1, where he inherits his own legacy as a legendary devil hunter, with Dante (and now Vergil) serving more in a guest role without outright saving his ass again.
Joseph Rodriguez
All I can fathom right now is Dante and Vergil storming into Mundus big ass palace in the demon world while Mundus somehow already returned to the human world. Nero gets his seat in the protagonist chair and sends Mundus back to hell himself where the sons of sparda finish Mundus off in hell for good.
Dominic Sanchez
I think you're mostly correct, but I feel like we didn't see enough of Vergil learning from his time as V. There's his willingness to fix Urizen's mistakes by severing the Qliphoth's roots, and "Thank you, Nero", but then when he fights Nero in Mission 20 he's talking down to him in a way.
Also for all the things DMC5 took from DmC, I think it's hilarious that they both just completely ripped off Bleach. Nero DT looking like Bankai Ichigo is way better than Hollow Vorgil though, mostly because of the JYB connection.
Also Nero fucking SEETHING over being called "Dead weight" ONE TIME for over a month is hilarious.
I don't really want Nero as the true protagonist. Whenever I'm not playing as Dante, I just want to play as Dante. He's infinitely more complex than Nero can ever be.
>Seething over being called dead weight Think about it. Dante and Nero saved Fortuna together and Dante entrusted Nero with his own branch of the business. I wouldn't call it ego but Nero definitely felt some serious accomplishment with all that he's done. Then he just gets told that he ain't shit.
Gabriel Nguyen
Why didn't Dante just go "alright you're not dead weight I fucked up but you can't kill your dad"
Eli Davis
I think what's next is DLC campaigns. The ending and bonus credits scene set up Dante & Vergil in Hell for one and Trish & Lady on Morrison's job for another. Vergil will absolutely get some sort of playable state even if that doesn't happen, but I feel like they want to go a bit deeper into his development since he only really exists for 3 Missions.
Jordan Wright
He literally did not have an arm at the time Dante said that and had just gotten his ass destroyed by Urizen. Nero's being a little piece of shit.
He did mention >I didn't mean it like that >I can't have you kill your old man
Angel Diaz
Dante likes bullying the people he loves.
Joseph Reyes
I enjoyed the story. There was a lot they had to because they couldn't afford to wait on certain plot threads any longer after 11 years. Also the voice acting in the scene where Nero is told the truth about Vergil is really good. I've always liked Bosch and felt like the people who criticize him for not being able to do a bunch of funny voices don't know shit about voice acting. Credit to Langdon as well, who isn't even that much of an actor.
Christian Gray
I don't remember him saying he didn't mean it, but Nero did punch him in the face so I guess he just got over it
Zachary Hall
>Cerberus is the one devil arm Dante didn't pawn for money Must have been such a good dog.
Didn't he? He starts with Rebellion and Balrog. He actually gets a new set of nunchucks during the story.
Nathaniel Lopez
It was during the first group-is-together meeting before Mission 13. Nero gets irked that Dante is telling him to sit back and Nero brings up "dead weight" and Dante tells him that.
Jace Jackson
>(literally ripping off Bleach) His DT does look like something out of bleach with that hair. Good thing DMC actually is good.
Benjamin Price
He pawned the original. King Cerberus is a new weapon made from the strongest of its species. The only truly returning weapon outside of the obligatory Rebellion(/Sparda), E&I, and Coyote A was Kalina Ann.
Kayden Martin
The prequel novel details Dante returning to DMC2 island where Lucia is having a shitton of trouble fighting Balrog and Dante's fight with Balrog has him use DMC3 Cerberus to counter his fire. Cerberus breaks in said fight however but Balrog willingly submits to Dante so that they can have a rematch later on.
Isaac Young
I think there's a general misunderstanding regarding Vergil 'learning from his time' as V. V doesn't actually undergo any character growth beyond the pep-talk from Trish, him regretting Vergil's actions and wanting to stop Urizen, him just generally being a nice chill dude, that happened immediately after Vergil split himself in two. V doesn't grow into becoming that guy, he's already that guy from the beginning. V is more to represent a side of Vergil's character that can't be represented by Vergil himself, who he would be without all the darkness and trauma, and when he reunites with that good side of himself he also reunites with Urizen (which is all the darkness and trauma), making him mostly the same Vergil again, immediately fighting Dante and calmly watching the Qliphoth continue to devour the world without doing a thing to stop it. The only perceivable difference at that point is him thanking Nero, but before that he's just never had a reason to thank anyone for anything. For all intents and purposes, he's still 3Vergil. It's only after he fights (and cannot defeat) Dante and after Nero beats him that he actually demonstrates any real change.
Jordan Reyes
Don't forget Luce & Ombra, Trish's guns.
Jaxson Flores
Dante kept Cerberus. He just lost it in the fight against Balrog
Jacob Perry
What's your guys' strategy against nobodies
Do you just keep wailing on them until they lose all 3 masks?
Kayden Lee
I was fighting King Cerb earlier and Dante said something like, "C'mon boy, I've got a bone for you," to which KC replied, "You mock me? I can see through your petty lies!" which makes me think he actually really wanted a bone. Cerberus clan are just good puppers.
Wyatt Sanchez
I really like how Nero's character works in 5. He just lost Yamato, a weapon Dante trusted him to take care of, and his arm with it. Dante calls him dead weight and he takes it personally throughout the whole game. He's constantly trying to prove himself throughout the game and is done with living behind Dante's shadow.
Easton Harris
i say we give Nero 1 more game and then hop on to the next protagonist that will inevitably take his place.
Nathan Bell
This. In Devil May Cry 5, the story doesn't drive the characters. The characters drive the story. I loved 5's story and thought it brought brilliant closure to Dante and Vergil's rivalry and added great character development for Nero.
Bentley Gomez
>V is more to represent a side of Vergil's character that can't be represented by Vergil himself, who he would be without all the darkness and trauma, and when he reunites with that good side of himself he also reunites with Urizen (which is all the darkness and trauma), making him mostly the same Vergil again
Don't forget that Urizen gets utterly defeated though. And that Vergil essentially succeeds in his plan to become the strongest pure demon there is and still loses. His life goal was achieved and he still lost.
Yes, Vergil at the end is still kind of an ass and he always will be, but he did grow from his experience as Urizen and V.
Kevin Butler
Exactly.
Daniel Rodriguez
Nero should get his own series.
Asher Ward
I don't know what exactly Vergil was thinking of the situation when he came back. He was just standing there and Dante was the one to initiate a fight while Vergil just threw him off and said fight me later.
Ayden Russell
Dante and Vergil's hell adventures DLC/Expansion please. It would honestly be pretty sick if they go crazy with the enviroments.
Evan Sullivan
Urizen wasn't Vergil's life goal, Vergil himself after the merge was Vergil's life goal. Urizen was still only half of him, and if he considered Urizen's loss as his own actual loss he wouldn't have immediately issued a challenge to Dante and waited for him at the top.
Adrian Baker
This is a good way to look at it, thanks. I could see some difference in Vergil, but I should've taken into account that V and Urizen were both existing portions of Vergil's self (with Griffon, Shadow, & Nightmare as byproducts of a time where he wasn't himself).
I need to fucking read this novel. It seems to fill in lore gaps by the dozen. I heard that it says Agnus worked for Arius's company?
>Urizen wasn't Vergil's life goal, Vergil himself after the merge was Vergil's life goal.
The story literally makes zero sense if you assume Vergil fusing back to his former self was the plan all along.
He didn't think that far ahead. He thought stabbing himself with the Yamato would simply get rid of his humanity and that he would become pure demon like Sparda. He never thought that his consciousnesses and memories would be almost entirely trapped within V.
Gavin Johnson
Yeah, Agnus worked there for a time before being called into work with the Order. Balrog was also Argosax's second in command
Liam Rivera
Dante only needed to stab himself versus Vergil who needed to go full demon, absorb the blood of most of Redgrave + the surrounding cities, have Dante kill his bad dreams, AND eat the fruit of the tree before Dante comes in and spanks his ass again.
Joseph Collins
V's identity brought the story down a lot. I was expecting a lot more than what we got.
It wasn't the worst thing ever but I guess I got myself to blame for having higher expectations than what we got.
And before you start foaming at the mouth, I still love the game and its top5 contender for GOTY already for me.
Ian Morales
Stab himself with THE POWER Vergil was looking for in 3. Dante absorbs not only the physical manifestation of his OWN powers but that of Sparda as well.
Kayden Watson
I love the game, but they should have just accepted that Vergil's story was over and made V Mundus or something.
I disagree with that. I wanted Vergil back and am happy for it but at the same time I believe they could've led the story into a more interesting development while keeping Vergil's comeback too.
Justin Jackson
There's also the implication that Yamato & Rebellion were designed with inverse functions (Yamato separates demonic & human power, Rebellion is able to combine and strengthen them) and Sparda decided to give them to his sons. Dante takes a moment before stabbing himself thinking about how being stabbed with Rebellion awakened his Devil Trigger and wondering why Sparda gave him Rebellion in the first place.
Noah Johnson
Part of me really wanted Mundus again to cap off the series. Crimson Cloud and all that. Would it have been too convenient if Urizen was Vergil that was sustaining Mundus' powers after being sent back to hell? Like an amalgamation of both before Dante and Nero "save' Vergil and kill Mundus for good? That still leaves Vergil's development to be made elsewhere. Maybe the potential mission separating the two could dive into Vergil's psyche a bit
Landon Flores
Imagine if Dante physically multiplies in strength EVERYTIME he gets stabbed with his own weapon
Cameron Barnes
>He never thought that his consciousnesses and memories would be almost entirely trapped within V. They aren't though, that's just not true. Urizen recognises Dante, he talks about attaining power in their last fight, and the fruit's chamber draws up his old home from his memories. It's just a simple fact that Vergil post-merge is stronger than Urizen and Vergil still wants to fight Dante (meaning he doesn't accept Urizen's loss as his own loss). Vergil stabbed himself because he was too weak to do anything else, it was that or die; whether he planned on merging again later or not, it doesn't change that he doesn't accept Urizen's loss as his own loss.
Cameron Gomez
Dante was also fed power by the tree for the month he was asleep, so says Nico in the gallery.
Michael Russell
The problem with the story in dmc5 boils down to two things - There's too many cutscenes that exist to benefit the story instead of benefiting the game. That bit at the beginning where nero is flipping around the truck is the only real big action cutscene, everything else is just people talking to eachother and trading hits like I'm watching an anime - Everything you just said is either not given enough build up or is all at the very end, the game has too much filller at some points and then suddenly everything else reslves so fast you don't have time to let it breathe. Urizen goes from eating the fruit that the entire plot has been about preventing him from doing and then he gets completely erased as a character 10 minutes later so that Vergil can come back and everyone can jerk their dicks off over it
Compare it with DMC3, where everything from the music to the story to the writing to even the action scenes and the gameplay exists to build up to the credits fight with devils never cry playing
TLDR: dmc5 has the pacing and a lot of the writing of a shounen anime or a marvel cape film
Isaac Stewart
it is anime though, it's playable anime
Owen Harris
>Vergil isn't really the main character material Actually, Itsuno wants to make the game about Vergil but Capcom does not allow it.
Colton Thompson
sorry, I lied.
The ACTUAL problem with the story in DMC5 is that it makes replaying the game a fucking chore. You have to sit through so many loading screens of skipped cutscenes just to restart a level
I've unironically revived myself when I die like a scrub just because it's the beginning of a mission and it would save me time then restarting
Nicholas Hill
The reason he never has one is that he was never that popular. Hell, DMC4 was supposed to be Nero's game but Capcom has to make a last called to add Dante in as a playable character because of how badly received he is.
Jeremiah Anderson
The only problem for me is that they set up another unsatisfactory villain which is a huge problem for the DMC series ever since 4. In 1 we had Mundus, he was a good villain because of all the set up leading to him. In 3 we had Mundus Light basically but the true antagonist was Vergil. For what the game build up it was a great final fight.
In 4 we had some spin-off tier story with some irrelevant shit happening, no one cares about that game. In 5 we ultimately have Vergil again but the moment V, his human side fuses with hsi demonic side and we see Vergil thanking Nero it was clear Vergil was not a real villain. He is no danger to humanity, he just wants to fight Dante. Urizen had a good introduction but we were cucked from a proper villain near the end of the game.
Dylan Watson
DMC5 Dante is probably my favorite Dante in the whole series. DMC3 Dante was an obnoxious, but fun punk with some great moments. DMC4 Dante was an absolute god but also too much of a clown.
In DMC5, Dante is taking things more seriously but with his usual optimism and snarky attitude. It almost feels like a combination of all Dantes and the light profanity he uses really fits his character.
Nero is litterally Ichigo Kurosaki the demon killer. >Wife is Orihime >Acts like a punk but is actually a sweetheart >Devil Trigger looks a bit like Ichigo in Mugetsu >Huge inferiority complex about being useless because he failed to protect someone >Both have songs talking themselves up and boasting >Both have a girl pal they'd never fuck that fans would prefer over boring big titty nice girl >Both have weird as fuck fathers they fight with but with Nero it's more serious Now if Nero manages to have a daughter instead of a son then I
Dylan Anderson
DMCV's story is just a rehash of DMC3 but worse.
Joseph Young
What happens if you beat Urizen as Nero in mission 8?
Logan Baker
>Both have a girl pal they'd never fuck that fans would prefer over boring big titty nice girl You ruined your fanfic right here since no one prefers Nero to be with nico over Kyrie.
Jackson Stewart
You get a happily ever after.
Brayden Sullivan
I feel like alot of shit was executed well without beating you over the head with it like some people who started with DMCV completely missed half the meanings of scenes and just see Vergil as a genocidal maniac just see Nero as an angry punk just see Dante as crazy wacky hobo. The fact that if you don't really pay attention you can completely miss the motivations of characters means they executed it well.
Ian Moore
Only idiots ever thought Ichigo and Rukia were a thing
Brayden Reed
Everyone dropped the series after Ichigo rescued Rukia and at that point it looked pretty likely for them to become a couple.
Jack Morales
Best f bomb in videogames
Christian Barnes
>Vergil just trying to shill out with Nero in his own way after Dante told him that Nero is his son. >Nero just wants his daddy to accept him. Well, they are cute.
Joshua Sullivan
I've said it before and I'll say it again, they really needed a secondary antagonist who claims the fruit and lets Dante, Vergil, and Nero have some actual bonding time as they take him down before having their own showdown. Imagine if Dante starts fighting Urizen before he eats the fruit, defeats him, Nero arrives with V, they merge, Vergil returns, they start fighting, then they hear chewing noises and turn around to see Goliath (instead of V killing him he just escapes) eating the fruit and becoming Shin Akuma Goliath. He claims his new throne and commands hell's legions to kill the seed of Sparda, while Dante and Vergil put aside their fight to deal with him and Nero gets some time to actually interact with his dad. When he's finished, Vergil swooshes right in, takes the fruit back, and he and Dante resume their duel as normal, with Nero's intervention having a lot more weight to it.
Tyler Cox
The tree is the secondary antagonist and the main antagonist for the Dante/Vergil in Hell DLC
Juan Jenkins
That's anime as fuck dude
Parker White
What part of DMC5's actual story isn't anime as fuck?
Jack Wilson
I know it's pathetically cringe and anime but I don't care, I really want Nero/Kyrie or Dante/Lady to have twin girls and the next game to be about them as teen devil hunters. Make their dynamic different then Dabte/ and Vergil, but it would be animu kino
Nathaniel Long
DMC5 story is surprisingly subtle at some points and relies more at implications and knowledge of previous titles and game universe in general which throws off some retards. It serves as an excellent epilogue to the series.
Ethan Roberts
The only issue is that Dante would wipe the floor with Vergil because Vergil needed that fruit to get to the same level as Dante.
Jeremiah Peterson
they could also have just rehashed the anime and have a minion tier demon eat the fruit
Ryder Roberts
Nero is superior to Ichigo in all ways but music. Number One shits on Devil Trigger. I firmly believe Kyrie > Orihime to maintain my honor as an ass man.
Carter Morris
You know Orihime has a better ass than Kyrie now right? Have you seen her as an adult? Hips for days.
Jordan King
its great I just don't like how Vergil continues to go thru with his mission and all of a sudden decide to help them a second later yea there's build up and V as a character shows him the path but that didn't really stop him from continuing I felt like the game needed at least one more final mission since they were already trying a lot of things that are experimental and different from the main series, there'd probably be a mission 21
So both sword gave the chosen wielder what they needed, in a way. Vergil needed to see what he had become from the outside and became better for it, Dante unlocks a deeper power or some anime shit.
Logan Rodriguez
what if Griffin eats the fruit and then he, fatto catto, and nightmare combine to become mundus
Henry Perez
The only logical escalation of power and story is to either fight actual big threats in Hell like Satan, Lucifer, Beelzebub, and Mephistopheles, OR flip the script and introduce Heaven/Paridiso as an antagonistic element. Perhaps God isn't pleased with all the escalation of demon shit.
Brayden Bell
>People actually wanted V to be related to Mundus in some way and his own character.
The last thing DMC5's story needed was more characters and plot elements. If the story had not only Vergil, but Mundus as well, it would have been an even bigger mess than it already is.
His only mission was settling the score with Dante. Seeking the fruit for power was Urizen's goal, not Vergil's. Just as stopping Urizen and returning humanity to the demon (re: becoming whole again) was V's plan, not Vergil. V's influence in Vergil, and the catharsis of fighting and recognizing that he has a son makes it so that Vergil turning his sights on stopping the Qliphoth (re: seeing through cleaning up "his" mess) isn't unreasonable. Vergil is now spending time in the underworld with Dante, just fighting it out 24/7, so he met his quota in a slightly different way than he might've expected.
Benjamin Harris
>You have to sit through so many loading screens That's what you get for playing on console.
Kayden Powell
>even bigger mess than it already is Where's the mess?
Joshua Moore
Except this was an example of the both of them using the opposite ideologies. Dante had to gain power from an external source, and Vergil gained strength from an internal source via V. Proof is showing that Dante could spank Urizen, but fought completed Vergil to a stalemate. That's factual proof V made Vergil stronger than his pure demon side could ever hope to be, plus the exchange with V and Urizen before they fused.
Urizen and V both needed power. But to have power, they needed each other.
>Highlighting his inferiority complex that drives his MOTIVATION >>his subtle character progression from his time as V I agree with this, but it shits the bed when Virgil returns
Camden Flores
I agree, I slightly prefer DMC3's story overall but I still think DMC5 has the second best story in the series. Really the main problem I have with 5's story is the pacing is kind of weird in the last few missions in the game. Like what said, I think it would have benefitted a lot if the game was just a few missions longer. The Vergil reveal cutscene was amazing but I didn't really like how Dante got to him in like 1 mission, and Nero got there in a cutscene. I feel like the final confrontation with him needed more buildup of Nero and Dante getting to him. I was kinda disappointed that V wasn't completely his own character but I think it would've been even more lame if he was just Mundus or Mundus' reincarnation like people were theorizing. I started to like the V/Urizen/Vergil thing. >Urizen has no memories of he and Dante's childhood and only knows Dante is his brother >because Urizen represents all of Vergil's motivations/lust for power and his obsession with beating Dante, so that's all he knows >V is Vergil's human side which is why he has the memories of what makes him "human" like his mother and his childhood >His main grudge against Dante rather than being stronger than him (like Urizen) is that he thinks Eva chose Dante over himself
This. I actually don't see why anyone wants Mundus back. He served his purpose both for the development of Dante and for the overall plot.
Jayden Evans
I think V had more of an effect on Vergil than most people think also the whole fight with Nero/Vergil was prob just Verg's autistic way of spending some time with his son before he leaves seeing hes grown into a great lad. >Dante just goes all of a sudden eh im done Nero got me haha >Vergil going hm well i guess ill give it a try then thatll mean im stronger than you come Nero:) >Nero just gave them a reason to stop that they both were looking for but couldn't admit >the way they effortlessly knock him back before they left showing they prob weren't tired at all so subtle you can almost miss it 10/10 Itsuno
Easton Smith
even on PC you still have multiple loading screens just to get through it all, they just don't take as long
Lucas Walker
Okay cr1tikal
Ryder Campbell
its painfully obvious the effects V had on Vergil I'm saying its unbelievable that he continued to have demons run around after becoming one again
William Ward
>Where's the mess?
Story is rushed as fuck due to three different protags having to share a single DMC game. Character motivation and development doesn't get time to marinate properly. It has good ideas but often lacking in the execution.
Kayden Brooks
Exactly, which is why its a non issue if you have an SSD too. And you'd be retarded to not have one already.
Brandon Cox
He had no control over the demons.
Gavin Anderson
>story not being fleshed out = mess ok
Jonathan Foster
>Dante kept Cerberus That's not entirely true. He gives all his Devil Arms to Enzo's pawn shop. If they don't sell, Dante borrows them. See Audio Drama summary. Dante even says how he's sorry for not using Cerberus in a while in that DMC5 novel
Xavier Roberts
Yes, execution is everything. You don't get brownie points for potential.
Matthew Hall
>you not being retarded ok
Carson Thompson
Man I get that his videos are supposed to be joking around and that his humor is over exaggerating things at times, but his criticisms of the dialogue/humor in DMC5 were really weird >says stuff like Nico saying "Up your butt?" was "embarrassing" and "insufferably bad" >meanwhile just a few months ago he made an entire video about a girl in Harley Quinn cosplay doing fart porn while roleplaying as the character
I'm used to anime sacrificing plot and logic in favor of metaphors and characters, so yeah OP I got you. Not everyone is a fan of that type of storytelling, but I love that shit personally. There was no final boss and you were fighting your bro's traumas all along, while he was having a homo self discovery trip. For me that's way more satisfying than if Urizen was some Mundus' shard or whatever.
I have a mid range potato and couldn't even read a sentence on the loading screen. Maybe you mean that the summary screens are annoying?
Anthony Collins
DMC5's story has issues, sorry.
David Kelly
You said its a mess and then said its because it isn't fleshed out. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about, sorry for your condition.
Nicholas Morales
He never had control over them. The Qliphoth event is a naturally occurring one where all hell breaks loose while humans are culled, and whoever reaps the benefits of it (re: the fruit) can become so powerful they're the next King/Queen of Hell. If you notice, every major boss battle demon that could talk had their own pursuit of the Fruit. They had their own plans, while sort of bowing to Urizen begrudgingly because of how powerful he had become. There was never any explicit control over the other demons, and if there was any, it died when Urizen did.
Jace Gutierrez
Man I wish we just got Mundus back like they originally planned. For fuck sake, the notes they have for this is “a familiar evil lurks in the shadows watching the events
I can't watch Charlie ever since post face reveal and his friends started to get active, is he really bashing DMC5's campy humour that's super weird
Isaac Powell
>You said its a mess and then said its because it isn't fleshed out.
Yup, DMC5's story is too ambitious for its own good. It's got good ideas but a messy execution.
Samuel Foster
From the developers themselves. Shall I post the rest?
Daniel Rivera
Oh, wow. Such perfect, much dialogue. What's next? "If you kill him you'll be just like him"? This. Itsuno has spent two games now trying to make Nero as enjoyable as Dante. He failed, it's time to move on. >getting rid of nevan For fuck's sake, Dante. So basically he's an eternal 13yo.
So Vergil's muh power half didn't plan that at all? Man I completely missed that the hell.
Speaking of, anyone knows if there are any guide/art books coming out?
Brayden Johnson
But Vergil's actually beaten Dante more than once unlike Vegeta.
Isaiah Wilson
Vegeta won against Goku in the original Saiyah Saga fight. Twice if you count that bullshit win against him during the Buu Saga.
Levi Davis
What you actually mean is bad, maybe not up to par, maybe unsatisfying. When you write mess, you imply its hard to undestand or there's plot holes. The story is actually clear as it can be. Learn how to write. Last (You) retard-kun.
Charles Smith
Yeah why would they team up against something that's getting in the way of their feud? How ridiculous.
Urizen was absorbing blood for a month straight and ate the demon god fruit. Vergil is stronger than Urizen alone but that doesn't mean he gained strength (that he wouldn't have otherwise had anyway) from V. V didn't grow or change from his initial self between the separation and the merging, he didn't gain any power or learn anything he didn't already know, as soon as Vergil split himself in two V was already horrified, regretful, and wanted to stop Urizen. There was no growth to take from it.
Mason Rodriguez
I mean more than their initial fight. Vegeta is eternally left behind by Goku and never really gets another clean win. Vergil only lost once in 3 and once in 1. In 5 Vergil gains the upper hand, but they appear to be pretty much even before Nero breaks up the fight. It would appear their powers are essentially on the exact same level, which isn't the same with Goku and Vegeta. Goku is always a step ahead.
Sounds like Con man's hard on for Zero in the MMX games. If Itsuno wants another character to take the spotlight, he should just draw Dante's story to a close and make the next DMC a distant sequel.
Zachary Rodriguez
To be fair to con man, it was his series and Zero was intended to be the main character from the X1. It wasn't something new that he tried to do later.
Bentley Hughes
Need a vid of their quality? Their Dante & Vergil are spotty at best
Leo Morris
Urizen did still bring the tree to the human world. Without Yamato letting it through, it would have stayed in the demon world as it has done since Mundus claimed the fruit over 2000 years ago.
Lincoln Barnes
Same here. I love the story and overall presentation in 5.
Aaron Taylor
>kill a bunch of people >sodomized dante girls with tentacles >cut off some loser arm >chill in hell with Dante like nothing happened
just looking at this i get a huge vibe that it just seems off. the ripped sleeve and the arm look kinda shit. but i mean fuck theres not many options. though waiting long enough it will just be unavailable later on instead of going on sale. the faces also look kinda off. also bbtoystore doesn't show many actual pictures. its all edited effects covering shit.
Robert Cox
>no hug in game
Leo Foster
>watch people get impaled by needle tentacles and casually run away no Nero, you are the demons
Samuel Adams
Even Vergil thinks about this subject. What if Eva saved Vergil instead and not Dante, would Vergil be where Dante is and would Dante be seeking power? Sparda gave them their swords for knowing who they are. Maybe it's destiny bs but it seems their paths were already laid out for them.
>actually reading into a shallow character trope >"my mommy died, i want power" literally sasuke
Chase Kelly
Isn't that just 3 with Sparda sword = the fruit and Arkham = Goliath?
Jason Taylor
Well yeah but what we got was just 3 with Sparda sword = the fruit and Arkham = Urizen
Jayden Jackson
It's been a while since I read Narutu, wasn't Sasuke about muh brother
Ethan Turner
Even if their positions were switched Vergil would still seek power to avenge his brother. I can imagine him being a bit more light hearted but the stoic guy we know and tolerate will always be there. I can imagine V is how he would be if Eva managed to save him as well.
Dylan Ross
>every tweet of his has 'ass', 'dick', 'fart', 'cum' or a combination of all of them >has the audacity to bash a line like that
true, but imagine if his brother didn't exist and it was random ninjas that killed his family. he'd still be an emo autist obsessed with getting stronger but wouldn't be able to direct his anger at one person
Bentley Reed
We probably won't be seeing Dante and Vergil again after this. Capcom said that this was the end of the "sons of sparda" saga and the game ends with them trapped in hell with seemingly no real desire to try and leave. Trish and Lady seem to be done too. Any future games will probably have Nero as the protagonist with Nico as the sidekick, and maybe a few new characters to round everything out.
>Urizen goes from eating the fruit that the entire plot has been about preventing him from doing and then he gets completely erased as a character 10 minutes later so that Vergil can come back and everyone can jerk their dicks off over it
That's where the plot lost me. We go from the climactic battle with the main villain just as he's achieved his goal, to Vergil coming back and now we have to race to the top of the tree and fight him because reasons. The final two missions of the game just felt like they were only there because Vergil is popular and not because the story needed it.
Carson Johnson
I love Charlie but sometimes he just doesn't realize how awful his sense of humor can be. Nico should have been a character he would have loved if he realized this.
Sebastian Evans
>tripfag AND a nigger Yikes!
Colton Roberts
>and now we have to race to the top of the tree and fight him because reasons wow almost like if nobody kept him in check he'd do some more autistic bullshit and kill millions more
Brayden Bailey
We've literally already had Dante and Virgil's philosophies, inherent incompatibilities, and feud detailed in DMC3. DMCV didn't add anything new to the equation considering Vergil's "character study" still ends with him being pretty much the same person but slightly less autistic.
It's pretty obvious they're retreading DMC3 to do it properly this time and to set up the stage for Nero to take on the role of the main protagonist. Itsuno himself stated he doesn't like Dante because he's not his character and wants to write him out of the story.
I don't know man, I think that if Vergil had anything resembling a normal life after Eva died, he wouldn't have been such an asshole. It's heavily implied in this game
Eli Brooks
>not wanting to play as uncle Nero and Dante's whiny teenage girl that gets angry when filthy demons get dirt on her clothes or when she ruins her nail polish.
He hates her normalfag friends, it's in the novel or files
Blake Diaz
We already went through this fucking damage controlling shill. Game turned out to be mediocre and a 7/10 at best.
Cope and kill yourself autismo
Ethan Morales
How old is DMC5 Nero compared to DMC3 Dante? Around the same age?
Charles Reyes
>Why did this spergy loser with no friends act in such an antisocial manner?
Ian Smith
The themes and presentation were great, i just feel the ending was a bit rushed.
Levi Clark
So if V told Trish that he was one part Vergil why did Trish not tell Dante and Nero before they battled Urizen? Dante would have easily known V's motives.. And to add that V told Dante Urizen was Vergil.. This confuses the shit out of me.
Also, how does everyone know that Trish and Lady are being used as demons? Even V knew Geryon Knight was Trish. "I'll be gentle."
Lastly, who does Malphas talk about reigning surpreme once the Sparda sword is destroyed?
Joshua Robinson
She's talking about Urizen. She was right in wanting the sword destroyed too.
Ryan Hernandez
I think she felt V's secret was something he had to settle with Dante himself. At least i think the same.
Connor Wilson
>Lastly, who does Malphas talk about reigning surpreme once the Sparda sword is destroyed Malphas line is something around "not even mundus could rule the human world, but he will not fail", he being Urizen
Michael Rivera
Why didn't they do some kingdom hearts shit and let V live somehow
Jackson Williams
I wasn't too sure about Vergil with all the leaks around but the moment he opened his fucking mouth I knew everything was alright.
This is me being petty I guess, but the ending of the game is being ruined for me by me being fucking livid. The credit fight with Vergil was such a fucking mess is made me mad and now I'm listening to this quiet credits song fuming with fucking anger..
Sebastian Martinez
Sounds like someone needed more power.
Elijah Lee
Having to spend time avoiding 3 spinning blade lizards while Vergil gets to kill things at his leisure, It's bullshit I tell you.
Parker Anderson
Just give me a fucking side job for DMC6 Hell several, don't need any big character driving moment. Just here for characters and gameplay Yeah it needed more missions. 20 missions stuff is too small for a multi character game
Mason Lee
>Dante starts fighting Urizen before he eats the fruit, defeats him, Nero arrives with V, they merge, Vergil returns, they start fighting, then they hear chewing noises and turn around to see Goliath (instead of V killing him he just escapes) eating the fruit and becoming Shin Akuma Goliath. JOIN US NEXT TIME ON DRAGONBALL Z
Is it just me, or does V feel WAY more mashy than Dante and Nero? I feel so disconnected from his attacks, to the point where it feels like I'm just supposed to set Griffon loose with L2, then just mash Shadow attacks while just standing back reading or taunting, then summon Nightmare to clean up. It really doesn't feel like there's much opportunity to get airborne, or dodge, or do anything that's not just hanging out while my dudes whittle away at the enemies.
Juan Mitchell
shut the fuck up vaati I bet you haven't even done SoS yet
David Rogers
The only thing I don't like is how shadow feels so unresponsive, because due to context he sometimes doesn't attack when you press the button instead he teleports somewhere else, which leads me to mashing
Wyatt Morgan
>user got shittalked by Vergil
Ethan Torres
Vergil game where you just try get enough power to beat Dante they would only need to make him a bit more talkative if they want to keep the cheesy lines.
Bentley Richardson
I loved the idea of Dante being a boss in 4, especially when he's at the top of bloody palace. Would've been so great if mission 20 was Dante + Vergil teaming up like they did in 3 to fight Nero's DT form.
Grayson Rivera
Hope they add a vergil alt announcer to the game someday
>Pathetic >You can't handle it >NOW YOU'RE MOTIVATED fund it
Jackson Thomas
Shit, I didn't even consider that. It's like I become retarded when they remove the HUD. IS there some secret cutscene for beating Vergil?
Joshua Reyes
SUPER STYLISH SCHUM
Luis Lopez
Yeah. Urizen was literally just along for the ride, and was in the right place at the right time.
Jackson Wright
(You) Yes, Balrog in the novel was able to use the shard to open up portals for himself and a mass of his demon army. It's also how Dante got out of hell in 2, Balrog was still getting use to trying to control it's power and was opening up random portals, which Dante just happened to find one of.
The shard was destroyed when Dante clashed it against Cerberus. Sadly, Cerberus also didn't survive the encounter, but Balrog was so impressed that he gave up and became Dante's devil arm willingly. Saying that fighting with him would increase his strength. This also means though that his half of hell army has gone to join Mundus. So Mundus controls everything again.
Can anyone link me to this DMC novels? Only DMC manga i have ever read was the prequel to 3 back in the day, but ididnt know there was one of Dante gettign out of hell
Jonathan Flores
nah dante just talks shit instead of vergil and you unlock V EX + alternate nero taunt
Sebastian Wright
Can Vergil stop acting like a cunt in DMD holy shit.
>about a year after DMC5 >Dante and Vergil are still missing >Qliphoth has been killed >Kyrie and Nero's baby boy is a couple months old >Mundus swoops in and takes their baby >Nero & Kyrie have to venture into hell to get their son back >Run into Dante and Vergil along the way, hijinks ensue
Dominic Taylor
but Dante's playstyle is too fun to not have him in there.
Ayden King
What if in DMC6 they introduce Nero's brother as a long-lost new character.
Jeremiah Brooks
>Dante and Vergil are literal kings of hell at that point
David Russell
>Dante gets mad at Nero for not bringing pizza
Mason Edwards
DMC6 as a prequel where big boss style, Sparda is voiced by reuben, same face model, gameplay style and acts the same.
>VERGIL, GET NERO OUTTA HERE, HE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE PIZZA - HE'S JUST DEAD WEIGHT
Tyler Watson
What would Devil Sword Vergil even be? Devil Sword Dante looks like a Monster Hunter weapon for some reason, I was kinda hoping it would've been a cooler looking Rebellion.
Aiden Fisher
This would be perfect, and they go in Nico's van which of course has no problem traversing the underworld.
Christopher Lopez
>454722641 So did Vergil unleash the tree or is it a natural occurring? I keep seeeing both posted in threads
Joshua Wood
Did V know Nero was his son? He kept saying that he should be able to defeat Urizen before Dante just upsand leaves with Sparda to do it himself. I sorta wish V and Nero spent more time together, it makes it more sad that Nero was the only one to give a shit about V when he was tired or dying compared to Dante or the others.
Lincoln Lee
A longer and thicker katana
Lincoln Stewart
A nagamaki or maybe it dosen't change because they were both used by sparda and he only could have one big sword.
Charles Green
It's factual, with proof, that V made Vergil strong enough to stalemate Dante.
Dante has always said demons lacked what humans did, which is why hybrids are so strong. He tells Agnus as well as in DMC3, he states humanity is the key to making a demon strong. That's why Urizen was absolutely wrecked by Dante, but Vergil stalemated him. Vergil with his humanity makes him dramatically superior to Urizen. Which means V himself is what makes Vergil strong. Vergil gained power by retaining his humanity, an internal form of power, except external. Where Dante gained a power boost from an external source, in a manner that Vergil was trying to accomplish.
As far as I'm aware he just rode it to the human world since he didn't have Yamato to slice his way out of the Underworld.
Jackson Russell
I don't think you can include Dante and Vergil at all. They're way too fucking powerful for this shit. The story would end up having to take some beats from 2 or 4 where Dante is at like 5% try.
Nathan Brown
nero could've used a bit more development, especially considering you could sum up his entire character arc in 5 with pic related
>V says the they cant go any further in Nicos van >bitch still gets inside the tree in mission 8 Nothing can stop her van and im pretty sure its demon powered the same way neros arms are
Does anyone know the name of the demon whos picture is in her van during mission selects screen name is? Its the drawing of a red faced demon with 4 black horns
Jose Hall
Please someone post the DMC5 Vergil faceapp smile one
>is he really bashing DMC5's campy humour that's super weird Yeah kinda. It's also weird since he said that people shouldn't take DmC too seriously. I thought DMC5's humor would be right up his alley youtube.com/watch?v=gB4KaiAkB2o >"King of Hell huh? I could get used to that! We need some pizza to celebrate." >"Dante, there is no pizza or human food for that matter in the underworld." >Dante's fw
The tree wasn't unleashed until after he stole Neros arm and took the sword back. Its not clear weather or not the tree happened naturally or if Vergil was the cause.
Urizen does in fact have Yamamato when you fight him,but it encased in the crystal that protects him. The plot hole is how Vergil got into the human world prior to taking neros arm and his sword back. Then the next time we meet Vergil hes plit in 2 and we also dont know why hes attached to the tree unless he summoned the tree in the first place.
His sitting on a throne of roots while being pumped human blood into his body,so we can assume he summoned the tree
Elijah Hall
>Speaking of, anyone knows if there are any guide/art books coming out? this, anyone?
>tree happened naturally or if Vergil was the cause. Anons keep mentioning that the tree occurs naturally every 100 years and vergil just took advantage of it. Vergil could have gotten out of the human world the same way Dante got out, random portals, wasn't it said he was in witnessed what happened in fortuna?
Bentley Phillips
Honestly, I really wish DMC5 could have had some more english speaking input when it came to the writing.
The cinematography is amazing, the acting is enjoyable, there's good ideas within the story; but the ESL dialogue really holds it back. I actually think it feels a bit more engrish than DMC3 somehow. Some of the lines characters speak is just something an actual english speaker would never ever say. It feels like a subpar anime dub at times. The one liners are generally really good and you can tell the actors were having a good time, I just wish the interactions when characters are talking was better and felt more natural.
I think some better dialogue could have gone a long way.
>I can imagine him being a bit more light hearted but the stoic guy we know and tolerate will always be there. >I can imagine V is how he would be if Eva managed to save him as well. Yeah after playing the game for a while you realize that V acts just like Vergil does and even has a few of his quotes.
"Die" "im running out fo time" "i need more strenght" That on top of his serious demeanor and reserved nature is Vergil thru and thru
Connor Evans
They meant as in next games won't be anymore about "Vergil is being autistic again". They would never leave Dante out from his own games.
Daniel Allen
>Nero only dt'ing after he learns the truth (literally ripping off Bleach)
I had a hearty laugh there user. That's true. His is Ichigo's voice actor, no? Sounded very much like him, especially the 'I swear' part.
>them trapped in hell with seemingly no real desire to try and leave. Wait so they are trapped in hell again? Are we sure about that casue they took down the tree and they can both fucking FLY so its saft to assume they could have just flown right back into the human world from under ground could they not?
Anthony Rivera
>Urizen does in fact have Yamamato when you fight him,but it encased in the crystal that protects him. It makes sense because Urizen came from/transformed from Vergil's body which was still holding Yamato, in contrast to V who sort of popped out of Vergil. I don't get why this is so hard for people to get. Vergil didn't conciously plan on summoning the Qliphoth, he split himself because he saw his humanity as a burden/weakness holding him back from defeating Dante. Splitting his human side off caused him to transform and for Urizen to take over. His hatred, demonic side, and lust for power took on a mind of its own so to speak. The Qliphoth is a naturally occuring thing to determine the next demon king or some shit. >the plot hole is how Vergil got into the human world prior to taking neros arm and his sword back. I'm not 100% certain on this since I haven't finished reading BTN, but I've heard people say that Vergil's soul was trapped in Yamato or something? it would make sense since how else would corrupted fucked up zombie Vergil get to Fortuna (where Nero and Kyrie live), an Island? And Agnus was storing the parts of Yamato in his lab.
V is about to tell Dante that Urizen is actually Vergil when he visits the shop but the screen cuts to black on his lips, this is why Dante says Jackpot! and Urizen recognizes him
Ayden Collins
That's not how demon world and human world work, or there would be no reason for demons to be so pissed off at Sparda for ruining their fun.
Mason Harris
The tree is unleashed after the split. Urizen wanted to utilize it to gain more power.
Liam Edwards
>and Vergil isn't really main character material
I think how Vergil is now he could be a good main character.
Wyatt Cruz
>DMCV and Episode Ardyn using MGSV's subtitle font oh you japanese devs
Luke Clark
Did crew cut ever get the hug he needed?
Ethan Williams
But the tree made a big ass hole in the ground so cant the just fly out of it?
Isaiah Cox
Why would they want to? Dante wants to hang out with Vergil
Ethan Cruz
The hole was actually a portal, and it closed once roots were severed.
Cameron Roberts
>armless dead weight with an ultra fucked jaw >Vergil >Crew cut >naked V >gato gordo I'm fuckin dying
Thomas Reed
>nce I haven't finished reading BTN, but I've heard people say that Vergil's soul was trapped in Yamato or something? it would make sense since how else would corrupted fucked up zombie Vergil get to Fortuna (where Nero and Kyrie live), OHHHH i must have missed that part
>finished reading BTN BTN? What is ti and where can i read it
Wyatt Price
>Dante chucking Griffon because he talks morethan Dante at last i truly see
What if he does have a kid, but the kid is exactly like Gohan from DBZ and doesn't wanna fight?
Nero obviously loves the fighting though, even before the events of DMC4, he knew how to fight and was a punk. Honestly, I'd like to think that Dante KNOWS about his own kid, and where he's at, but doesn't try to get into his life because of how many enemies he AND his father has, and the possibility that he'll lose his normal life. I mean shit, just look in DMC3 where the likes of Beowulf tries to find and kill the rest of Sparda's bloodline. Mundus even sent his demon lackeys to kill off the rest of Sparda's kin.
It all makes sense that if Dante had a kid, he wouldn't want them in his life.
Asher White
>forgot >not actually doing it on purpose to avoid the deadweight
>>his entire arc being the inverse of 3Dante, where it's about him accepting his demonic heritage How is it an inverse? Wasn't Dante's arc also accepting his demonic heritage?
Andrew Edwards
Everyone likes and is praising the story except all the contrarian faggots on Yea Forums.
Where does it say Dante pawns his devil arms for cash and what use would a human pawn shop get out of demon powered devil arms?
Where to read the novel?
Like can regular humans even properly use them?
Dylan Nelson
It was in DMC radio drama, Enzo runs a pawn shop selling devil arms and Dante made a deal with him cause of a huge debt. It's unknown who he sells said weapons to, just that no one wants Agni and Rudra, to this day they still hang in his shop.
Chase Reyes
and then nero was a demon
Landon Watson
>They aren't though, that's just not true. Dude V has all of virgils memories about Eva being there mother and where he grew up and lived.
Urizens only memory is Dante kicking his ass twice which is why he says he doesn't recognize the place where the fruit grew, but remembers Dante very well.
I'm at mission 16 on DMD and I'm scared to go further knowing that eventually I'll face DMD Vergil. He was already hellish on Devil Hunter, Ultra hellish on SOS, so I can't even imagine how hard he is on DMD.
Like holy shit, they literally made Vergil for the mad men that can royal guard anything.
Becasue all of us on V have been playing the game since DMC1 you fucking pleb and we know more about the lore than some Dmc loving cunts or some worthless ass game reviewers.
Game is filled with plot holes and shit hat make 0 sense according to the canon lore
Don't think there is anything on youtube, like novels it's only available in Japanese, while we got only summary. tiny (dot) cc (slash) uu153y
Thomas Adams
>We probably won't be seeing Dante and Vergil again after this I doubt it, especially how they had to make the last call to add Dante in as a playable character in DMC4.
Jeremiah Mitchell
Does anyone know where to read the DMC5 novel where Dante gets balrog? Any of the DMC novels for that matter cause i have only read the prequel to 3 novel many years ago and would like to read the rest
Cameron Kelly
>Becasue all of us on V have been playing the game since DMC1 kek you know that at least 40% of these threads consist of people from reddit and twitter from seeing all the le funny DMC memes and videos made here
Evan Rivera
I think it lacks in giving some motivation for the main characters. Outside of the job and the "dead weight" motivation, Nero got left on the wayside. Dante only wants to stop Vergil. This never changes. I can see the cracks in how the writers had a hard time helping these characters progress. I really think they should go back to one character so they can focus on giving him a well defined arc. Fighting the Mallet Trio was great though. Reminded me of when Vergil took Boewulf.
Ayden Edwards
there's a summary on dmc5info, but no actual full translation
Lucas Ward
Anyone else think Vergil's hair looks odd in 5? It looks less like he slicked it back and more like he stood in a wind tunnel for an hour.
Leo Thompson
Alright then, list ALL of the plot holes of DMCV then, go ahead then, bro.
Levi Torres
Yep. It's too fine. It looks preset than something that it slicked back.
Eli Ross
>yo bro do you want this cool electric gituar that summons bats >or this electric sword that stabs you >or this briefcase that turns into every single gun possible >Or this backpack that summons exploding thorns
No, he shouts "ALL IN" Are you thinking of a different move?
Austin Butler
Literally the only problem I have with Vergil's design in 5. His outfit is great, his face is good and only has a few instances of looking weird (in my opinion anyways) but his hair looks too styled up. Unlike in previous games where it sticks out at the back but is more slicked back and flat against the top of his head. I've kind of gotten used to it though, it looks okay from the front at times.
you are a man of fucking taste! WE NEED A STORY THAT SHOWS HOW SPARDA BECAME THE FUCKING DEMON JESUS PEOPLE WORSHIP HIM FOR! i want details damn it. Look at that classy fucking face! tell me you dont want victorian era hijinks and kino??
I sure don't. Backstory is backstory for a reason. Sparda is dead and we know how his life impacted the characters we care about. I hope he never comes up again now that his sword is gone.
Xavier Brown
I'd rather them focus on singular protagonists from here myself but they seem incapable of leaving well enough alone.
Andrew Hall
He has no idea what sex is.

Guys how much life does DMD chapter 12 Urizen have compared to SoS? Damage too?
>scantily clad women posters all over his office >reads porno magazines >Makes sexual innuendos/comments >Nero is my son? >You can't remember through that thick skull of yours? I can MAYBE understand thinking he's a virgin but come on user also Dante with black hair is kinda hot, I hope someone makes a mod where his stubble is black too because black hair + white stubble is kind of retarded.
Gerbera neutral use has Nero put out his hand and shoot a close range shockwave, on the ground or in the air
GP01 neutral use shoots you up in the air if on the ground, and down to the ground if you're in the air, it's incredible mobility and pretty much a straight upgrade
