Nintendo used to be censorship happy when it came to localisation, it was found that most of this was due to the American branch called "Treehouse". These fucks censored a shit ton of games such as Fatal Frame, Fire Emblem, SMT:TMS etc. So the west got censored versions while Japan had uncensored versions. People threw a shit fit, and Nintendo told Treehouse to fuck off leading the regional parity in regards to the games, with the only censorship now being due to CERO, Japans rating board similar to the ESRB and PEGI, the American and European rating boards. Good on Nintendo.

- Sony.
Sony was actually pretty free of censorship during the time Nintendo had Treehouse, and many tits and ass was seen. But then in Sony's infinite wisdom they decided to move their MAIN office to California, America. After this move and everything was set-up, Sony has started to censor like fucking crazy. On top of shitting on the Japanese branches forcing the Japanese to speak English and hold meetings during American afternoon hours which are ridiculous times in Japan. Obviously Japan is also pissed about this.

- Microsoft.
MS is dead and because of this they probably get away with a lot more shit than Sony. But who the fuck knows.

- Valve.
Valve has said they have an open door policy when it comes to games, and many games including straight up porn gets on their store, which makes journalists fucking melt. However there are rumours of rogue Valve employees banning shit they don't like, leading to multiple controversies and hypocrisies by Valve.

Noraneko Heart is rated CERO D, it's expected to show T&A. Fatal Frame 5 is too, and it does (In the Japanese release, at least. And guess what: In their countries of origin Fire Emblem and Fatal Frame weren't censored. People make a big fuss about Noraneko Heart because it was overly censored in Japan, and only on the PS4 version.

The issue is that the moment you update the game, even EU version, its censored. If you dont update, you're locking yourself out of any new features. Only recourse then is to play PC.

The pantyhose are actually an official optional costume that was added with Xenoblade 2's anniversary update. It just so happens to be that said anniversary was close enough to Ultimate's launch that tons of people were trying to argue that Ultimate is the reason for why the pantyhose costume even exists. Which is doubtful. For starters, pantyhose are a commonly fetishized piece of apparel and they are made sexy in Xenoblade 2 with the panties being visible through the pantyhose and everything.

So sure one could imagine that because of Ultimate's release, they pulled this pantyhose design out of their ass as an addition for the anniversary update. Or the costume was just part of the anniversary update to make the game/update more appealing, then Smash went with the costume since said costume would be enough to be approved for a CERO A rating. Meaning they wouldn't have to edit the design through some other unofficial way, like with Fire Emblem characters or whatnot.

As far as Sony is concerned, I don't think there's anything that can be done except to not buy their shit. Purchase games on a different system and eventually they might learn. Considering the censorship actually makes zero fucking sense from a business standpoint, it might take a while for anything to change.

If Sony were releasing an A or B rated game and asked by the CERO to change content to comply to their laws, yes, it would be fine. The issue is they are censoring C and D rated games on their own and not changing the rating to reflect the changes

Learn Japanese, which works for dialogue censorship for new games and pretty much all censorship for older games. You're not doing shit about anything CERO causes. Most you can hope for is for localizations to not get censored, and for that you'll have to write to to companies, hope a shitload of others do the same, and wait for the SJW era to end (which can be hastened by normal people actually speaking out against those nut cases).
