give me a modern wrpg where you can play as your own character, without a party and with a good combat system, first person view is preferrable

The Witcher is not a freeform RPG, at least not in the same way as TES. Geralt is always Geralt, the longsword-wielding, magic-blasting monster slayer who beds chicks and disrespects kings

In Skyrim, you always play as the Dragonborn, but who the Dragonborn is isn't really defined at all. You're free to specialize in anything, go wherever, become a thief, an assassin, a full-blown wizard. You can tank the main questline and betray people. You can sell shit to somebody and then sneak into their house that night and steal it back.

Witcher has stat numbers and an open world, but that doesn't make it at all similar to the TES gameplay concept.

I mostly agree with this, no one else is really trying to develop a truly free roaming fps/rpg titles the way Bethesda does. Everything else that gets close always has a hindering mechanic or focus instead of freedom to just do weird shit

No, it absolutely isn't. Even if we look past many worrying elements of Outer Worlds, it's a hub based RPG far more akin to VTMB than anything that Beth does. And while I absolutely don't think that is inherently a bad thing, it definitely isn't the competition for Beth we actually need.

Is right, actually. There is no competition for the studio. Not CDPR, not Piranha Bites, not Obsidian, not any other as far as I'm aware. Which is a real shame.

I didn't love Skyrim, but I did love the scandinavian atmosphere, which was really well done.
Once that enchantment wore off after 20 hours I was left with a boring and repetitive open world game and I dropped it.
