Story-wise it is.
Gameplay-wise... lol no

Well, its older

it should get a remake by platinum games

>People haven't known what good and bad gameplay is for 30 years

my main problem with the game were endings c&d since they are same as ending b so it felt extremely repetitive

Playing through nier right know and the gameplay gives me cancer please say that drakengard 3 has better gameplay

not much better

lol I love Drakengard 3 but on top of the mediocre gameplay you have terrible performance.

>gameplay gives me cancer
come on it's not that bad

>widely regarded as having the best story in all of gaming
>true ending is reached by doing arbitrary filler tasks like collecting all weapons
>story itself is just standard anime shenanigans seen in countless jrpgs

It's incredibly overrated.

Combat in automata is prettier but it lacks balance in difficulty.Easy is easy af,Normal is easy, and Hard isnt hard because as long as a hit doesnt kill you it doesnt matter anyways. You can carry 99 of each potion and small potions cost the money one small robot gives you.

>that box art
>liking the westernized dudebro version of nier specifically created to appeal to dumb americans

>true ending is reached by doing arbitrary filler tasks like collecting all weapons
god i'm doing that right now, it feels so pointless

>is older
ah ?

if you didn't 100% Drakengard 1 when it came out you're too young and normalfag to understand any of Taro's works

Comparatively i think it's awful compared to automata

Only like 4-5 side quests give you weapons. The rest you get through the main story or by breaking some boxes that are in plain sight. There arent many weapons anyways

I rather play the japanese version.
The twink protagonist is better.

>liking the fag shoujo version of Nier specifically created to appeal to dumb nips

True ending is a big letdown. You should just skip it.

>>liking the fag shoujo version of Nier specifically created to appeal to dumb nips
Stop spreading this false narrative. That fag version is the original version of Nier. Papa Nier only came out because of executive meddling:

siliconera.com/2010/05/20/barbarian-nier-was-born-in-los-angeles/

>Originally, the young Nier was the only main character. “I made the youthful version (the protagonist of Nier Replicant) first, during development Saito-san (producer) talked about considering overseas markets,” Taro Yokoo, Director at Cavia, explained in an interview with Inside Games. “At Square Enix’s Los Angeles studio we had a discussion, it was said having a fragile young character was not possible. So, I started preparing a macho protagonist for North America.”

>European and American staff were brought in for a heated debate. The point in question was whether a delicate looking character can wield a giant sword without looking ridiculous. Because Nier is a new intellectual property and they wanted it to sell, Cavia and Square Enix moved forward with two versions.

This, also the gameplay in the original Nier is good enough. Not every games need to be a dumbed down Bayonetta clone

>looking down on japanese for being japanese
did you also murder your grandmother for being irish?

Brainlet-tier post

Can you read what you wrote but this time without thinking that you're japanese or that their culture and everything they do is superior? God i hate weeaboos

I like both games quite a bit and have a hard time deciding which I like overall. the one thing I can say is that the first one had a better soundtrack

Music wise yeah, and arguably narrative wise. But that's it.

>Can you read what you wrote but this time without thinking that you're japanese or that their culture and everything they do is superior? God i hate weeaboos
I don't even particularly like Japanese games. But you realize they didn't even write a new story for Nier Gestalt, right? They just did a "ctrl f find and replace" and swapped out 'brother' for 'father', while keeping all the plot points and character moments the same. So you have a middle-aged man starring in a story where he's written like a teenage boy.

Take for example the time skip. In the original version of Nier, where the protagonist is young, this serves as period of maturation, where he grows up, both mentally and physically. This is even reinforced through the game mechanics, prior to the time skip Nier is only able to use one-handed weapons, after the time skip he can use two-handed weapons due to being older and more experienced.

But with Nier Gestalt, he's already a middle aged man when the game starts of, so him maturing during that time skip makes absolutely no sense.

Not to mention Nier's dialogue and his relationships with other characters, which was kept exactly the same despite going from a teenage boy to a middle-aged man. The result is that Papa Nier comes across as a caricature.
