Of course they know how to, but creating a mirror like in your examples is too much of a pain in the ass to do for every single reflective surface in a game. It's just not feasible and they could only do it in those games because the mirrors were limited to a small handful of places where the mirror was supposed to be a distinctive part of the environment.

We have technology now to dynamically create realistic reflections, making it feasible to have a world full of reflective surfaces since you don't need to rig up a hidden room for every tiny piece of glass, but the problem is it's incredibly CPU intensive and not really worth the processing power in most cases.

Shame most of the levels felt to empty because of their large sizes that mostly went unused.

Games look better than ever BUT the game interactions often look worse, sometimes because of CPU work, sometimes because the trash can is a still asset glued to the environment...

And the footsteps are merely trailed by decals, this is decades old technology. The top is actually technically superior. I think it's more that they become increasingly taxing on the hardware the more detailed and high quality the environment itself is. It's very easy to have a mirror show completely flat walls and floors with simple textures on them. It's a lot harder to reflect a fully constructed room full of objects, lit dynamically with a detailed character moving around in it.

The best videogame mirrors I've ever seen come from HITMAN 2016 and 2018. Objects, NPCs and shit like blood effects are rendered in real time in the mirror, and npcs that look into one can spot you if you're behind them, so it's a working mirror and not just for decoration. Plus some of them aren't located in closed rooms, a couple are in a room where you can see distant buildings, and the buildings are actually rendered in the mirrors correctly. Its impressive cause they managed this shit in a lower budget than most developers including the one in op's pic most likely.

A big difference between crysis and DMC5 is that the latter actually runs on computers. Crysis may have looked nice but was terribly optimised and a 32-bit application as well. It also doesn't actually look that good anymore. BF3 and BF4 matched it while also being 64 player muliplayer games.
