Is this pile of shit worth a pirate from someone who loves the original trilogy? I kinda wanna see how bad it is and also bang Cora.

Tried the trial for one hour and even that felt like a waste of time.

christ, what a shit looking party. Is that all of the members?

There's also a female turian and some rabbit dude

Yup

depends on when you ask

No. A summed it up best for me
>Mass Effect Andromeda as an experience couldn't feel more opposite from the first game. Andromeda feels outdated in a way I wasn't prepared for, it feels behind the curve of even Bioware's own catalog. Mass Effect 3 focuses on a handful of compact, highly detailed slice-of-life planets and made them memorable for the short time you were there. Dragon Age Inquisiton had relatively strong regional plot and gave its sprawling land a narrative definition. Mass Effect 2 had tight level design and for the most part snappier dialouge than Andromeda. And Mass Effect 1, for all its technical shortcomings, felt like it was much more effective in layering exposition and worldbuilding, laying a foundation for the games to follow. Andromeda is a mix of motifs and aspirations that evoke the previous games while failing to go beyond nostalgic imitation. It's not a wholly bad game but it's the most inconsistent and unfocused of the entire Bioware catalog. I'll put it another way, Mass Effect Andromeda is the Blues Brothers 2000 of electronic roleplaying: it exists only because people love the first one and fails because all it has to offer is its needy corporate nostalgia.

That's what reminded me of it

A YouTube reviewer, I meant to say

WHOLE trilogy is ma favourite game of all time unironically
but this """game""" is pure garbo

>WHOLE trilogy is ma favourite game of all time unironically
This. Playing the trilogy back to back is kino

The gameplay is alright except for not being able to command your squad at all
The story however is absolute shit tier garbage that’s irrelevant and literally just ends setting up for a sequel that will never come

Use mods

You should play it at least once i think, but definetly pirate it, don't give them a dime.
Playing this was a cleansing expirience for me. After playing it i was perfectly fine with the franchise and Studio dying. It cured me completely from my Mass Effect addiction.

The mod made her manjaw more prominent/obvious so no thanks.

The story sounded like it has some interesting ideas that were completely half baked and underused. Reading a summary of it sounded cool, but the actual scenes I saw looked like shit.
Yeah I kinda want to use it as a cleansing experience. I was so hyped for the game, and I feel like that whole chapter of my life won't be complete until I actually sit down and play it.

Hot take, I actually think vanilla Cora is decently attractive looking. Her skin texture looks pretty terrible in that pic though, I dunno if it's the lighting because it didn't look thaaaaaat bad in other pictures.

This. Shit even DA:I has more reason to buy than this because at least that game you can get th GotY version for only 15 bucks. That game has problems but not "I regret spending the equivalent of lunch" problems. MEA actually is that bad.

Somehow managed to make her insane jawline even more prominent. Big yikes.

It’s literally mass effect 2s story but half baked

OOH BIG PLOT TWIST THE ENEMY IS JUST A REAPERFIED, sorry I mean NOT REAPERFIED BUT DAMN CLOSE ENEMY SPECIES

>The gameplay is alright
>not being able to command your squad at all
so gameplay is shit, got it

Yeah the twist is THEY TURN US.....INTO THEM! Which might be shocking if that didn't happen literally 5 minutes into the first game with husks.

Yeah, it helps that it has the best gameplay in the series

>an ancient evil rises
>it's corrupts our people and turns us into them
>only with the unique power of the protagonist and his rag-tag gang of friends can they be stopped
>also something something ancient ruins of a long dead civilization
Literally the plot of every Bioware game since Kotor.

I found the whole pathfinder shit to be interesting, how there are like two different pathfinders for the individual arcs that you can end up with. It seems sorta interesting.
There was also something about a member of the bad guys that you can ally with or some shit which seemed kinda interesting.

I still don't understand why the writing is so bad when it has the writers of Citadel, which most people considered by far the best thing to come out of ME3

Its like Anthem without the flying

Surely you meant to say combat, because stumbling across a needlesly open map with nothing but filler content and grind for crafting materials is not good gameplay.

How different is the gameplay from ME3?

Does it really? That's strange. CItadel's writing was fantastic, but maybe they weren't equipped to write a serious story.

Citadel was cringe humor and references to older games and was only liked because ME was at that point already completly controlled by the waifufags who really only wanted to cuddle with their waifu one more time.

In fairness, they were even worse back when they didn't do that. Remember the villains of NWN? Probably not because no one does, but they were time-travelling lizard people from the future. It's actually even dumber than it sounds.

ME3 has small, tight maps, whereas MEA has 5 massive fuckhuge maps that put even Cisquisition to shame where you can pick flowers and collect rocks.

BioWare was setting up for a choice that would effect a sequel that won’t come

Evil Clone Shepard is amazing and you can't convince me otherwise.
I SHOULD GO

>bang Cora
>when Vetra is around
Come on faggot

god i hate blend chars and actors i can have all of this in real life. Games should be bright in all aspects

Attached: 1552693259985.gif (300x225, 852K)

I meant more about the combat, I know Andromeda heavily suffers from offline-MMO syndrome
Not just that, they were trying to set up DLC as well
Citadel was hilarious
"I never thought I'd say this, but I'm really looking forward to killing myself"-Renegade Shepard to their clone
I'm sorry, but Cora's booty is the most we'' designed thing in the game

>Answering twice
Literally autism

I don't understand how people can put up with the terrible animations and lifeless faces that even ME1 had better ones. Shit party members, can only 3 abilities and all around boring as fuck.

*well

The whole thing was basically a big thank you to longtime fans who stuck around until the end, and almost an apology for all the ending bullshit.

Ok Faggot

I would rather play DA2 than this game, and that's not a statement I make in jest.

Supposedly they fixed the animations/faces to an extent after the game came out, but I doubt they look that great

user I liked Varric too but let's not say things we can't take back.

>almost an apology
It was a literal apology.
It's Pandering:The DLC and waifushit lapped it right up.
and thanks to that Bioware now thinks every game needs a "Bonding night" scene like the cardgame in Inqusition and Movie Night in MEA, not realizing that Citadel only worked because it's resting on the shoulders of characters people became attached to for 2-3 games in the course of a decade.

>and thanks to that Bioware now thinks every game needs a "Bonding night" scene like the cardgame in Inqusition and Movie Night in MEA, not realizing that Citadel only worked because it's resting on the shoulders of characters people became attached to for 2-3 games in the course of a decade.
Yeah, a cute bonding night only works if you actually want to get closer to the characters

People liked Citadel because it reminded them of Firefly, user

The retextured the glassy, lifeless eyes and touched up many animations yes, but they can't touchup the horrendous dialogue.

The fact that there is not just one discussion about pronouns, but two discussions about them, is the main evidence that the writing is fucking terrible

At least when Sera mentioned some shit like that one time in DA:I, you had the ability to go "Sera, shut up"

It's more than just the virtue signalling, the dialogue is sometimes literally incomprehensible.
I'm going to link a video of the "my face is tired lady" because it's easier than writing 30 paragraphs.
youtu.be/2OvyyBhmsbo?t=44

Damn smudboy, I watched all his videos a while back even though I'm a huge trilogy defender.
But yeah the dialogue seems very... clunky.

I liked the gameplay, it was great. Crafting and exploring was fun too. But i fucking hate everything else.

better than inquisition and anthem for sure

Everything is better than Anthem, but what makes Andromeda better than Inquisition?

>better than inquisition

Attached: 1793168074.jpg (480x360, 16K)

I have decided to torrent it. I'm going to create "Chad Ryder" and tame the frontier with my alpha-ness

>from someone who loves the original trilogy?
Go ahead, you'll probably love it.

Yeah good luck with that, the choices and dialogue really only give you the choice of being an insecure manlet or a quirky manlet who gives out whedon-tier quips.

>with my alpha-ness
Oh boy

Attached: 1543752623197.png (700x700, 712K)

I really doubt I will
I'll try my hardest, if I could make it work in Fallout 4 I might be able to do it here (with a little mental stretching)
I'd use my alpha powers to get some quarian thotties if they hadn't been excluded from this fucking game

>I really doubt I will
You loved the original trilogy despite its incredibly inconsistent narrative, tone, and characters. Who's to say you won't enjoy this game too?

The overall narrative isn't that important to Mass Effect, it's all about the characters who imo were pretty consistent (other than Liara)

because the game is soulless and its very unfun

Andromeda seems like it was made by people that weren't interested in video games

Does anyone even know about that ugly reviewer "Stanbirdman "

I remember him talking about that that gray haired man face and saying "she?" was hot.

Holy fuck, he has become such a cuck.

Attached: andromeda.webm (640x360, 2.88M)

that last scene is pretty hot desu

>you've fallen for my trap
>time to analyze you thoroughly before breaking you
This is just like my japanese cartoons.

Thankfully it's mostly patched now.

Also Suvi best mass effect girl.

yikes!

>mostly patched
They really just slapped a bandaid on the worst offenders.

a filthy lesbian can't be best girl

I remember when PC gamer didn't publish nothing but pure shit...

Those were the days.

both look terrible bro

>if only you knew how bad things really are

Attached: 1552733087836.jpg (286x289, 25K)

Turian girl is best girl

They touched up the dialogue a little bit. They actually removed the 'My face is tired' line.

What's with the shitty textures in Andromeda? They made damn sure all the models were high-poly (except Cora's seemingly rectangular nude breasts) but half the textures are worse than ME3.

Is this literal 'consoles holding back the industry' shit with their lack of VRAM?

>Is this literal 'consoles holding back the industry' shit with their lack of VRAM?
Probably a mix of that and a lack of care

and shit engine ea forced on them

This looks like the face of someone who goes "imagine the smell"

Ive played the KOTORs plus the MEs put together probably 50 times. MEA was so bad I put it down around hour 4. Its just awful.

-Forced to use EAs inhouse engine and literally invent new modules for it just to make it work.
-All that after fucking around for two years on Unreal engine to make procedually generated Worlds before the dumbass Director got fired.

That's also part of the reason why every character in Dragon Age Inquisition had such oily, greasy looking skin. That was actually not intentional but the result of Bioware literally couldn't figure out how to make proper normalmaps and reflectionmaps on Frostbyte.

It wasn't EA. It was Bioware's own managers making stupid decisions.

The switch from Unreal to Frostbyte was EA. Wasting two thirds of their time and budget on a completely retarded design concept was on Bioware.

>on a completely retarded design
Which is what? As far as I know bioware just wanted more planets and bigger maps.

Gérard Lehiany had the brilliant idea of making a No Mans Sky-tier game (before NMS was a thing mind you) with literal hundreds of procedurally generated worlds.

>All that after fucking around for two years on Unreal engine to make procedually generated Worlds before the dumbass Director got fired.
They were really banking on NMS being a hit

Why are the character models SFM -tier in quality?

I've seriously seen better animated SFM porn than anything in Andromeda.

It was really funny man and the character interaction with your companions was so damn good with the party, plus clone Shepard shit was at the least pretty decent too

>is a mix of motifs and aspirations that evoke the previous games while failing to go beyond nostalgic imitation.
This really hit home for me when I think about the intro. The descent into the "first look" at an alien planet. The speech beforehand(but in this case it's not the main character making it, but his father). So many nice little touches evoked the original that I was really optimistic, but it never really payed out on that set up.

The worst part is that if you did any exploration at all, this becomes REALLY fucking clear by logs you find as you decipher their language (or however that worked)
>Got it, they turn angaran into more of them.
>Okay, here's where it's revealed... really, it's an ENTIRE MISSION to learn this fact?
>Wait, not only is there an entire mission, but a fucking cutscene of space-magic happening too?

It was pure fanservice, but it was good fanservice. The story is over, but you want JUST ONE MORE mission with the old crew? You want to experience all those old joys again?

Like quoted, the writers behind Andromeda area really good at evoking the feel of what came before them, but they can't quite capitalize on it when left to their own devices.

I've heard people say that Vetra is actually a good/decent character, is this true? Are any of the other characters decent?

That was really weird and jarring to me, usually I would be fine with just "whatever"-ing past it and letting them get by with pandering to people who aren't me. But dear god, between the sudden universal translator functioning with no explanation with the Angaran, an entire conversation on the subject with an Asari, and the LACK of an entry in the codex all I really wanted was some solid fucking rules for that thing.
I could get by in previous games with accepting it runs on plot for the purposes of calling people "boshtet", but Andromeda seriously had me going "no, I refuse to continue unless I am given RULES for this crap. Why did it not work over the radio, but it did in person? Why is the conversation with the Asari like this? As a single sex race they probably don't even have different pronouns, and the universal translators could be expected to shift it as necessary, and setting-wise, I swear the only concept they had as a race/species of "father" and "mother" was "donator of genetic code" and "recipient of genetic code", without any social expectations based on it."
I get it, she was a human historian and probably speaking english/french/whatever the human default was considered (which, given modern population basis, it could very well have been chinese, which I believe DO have gender neutral pronouns which would only raise more questions as to how the topic even arises), but it seems kind of like someone abandoning their own culture and the "proven" method of cross-culture polination in order to prove a point.

The real answer about to all of this is that the writers didn't know/care about how the translator should work

Nah, there’s also an ugly discount Twi’lek you can recruit

She's likeable which is more than you can say about most characters but that's it. Ignore the scalies who want to fuck the birdbugcat.

Yeah there's too much in andromeda to not get the feeling that the writers literally don't know the setting.
The fact that there are female Salarians all over Andromeda doing menial jobs like Secretary or egnineer when it's well established that their race is a matriarchal society where the few females of the race hold all the power with the males lusting for the rare right to shoot their seeds over an egg clutch just once in their life.

but dude...
the mods dont fix that atrocious writing...

i can smell this video

there are only 5 years between between the releases of ME1 and ME3

they made the only attractive female a lesbian

It is not.
I forced myself through it once just so I could say with confidence that it only gets worse the more you play.

I'M ONLY HUMAN AFTERALL

Attached: muirebe a roger.jpg (598x399, 69K)

But she's still a huge genetic improbability. Her family somehow managed to breed out the irish ginger pale skin into this drumpf spray tan and somehow the recessive genes for the red hair and green eyes still managed to pop up.
