This year, we're finally going home, fellas. We're going home...
Just kidding only an idiot retard that's easily baited by nostalgiafaggotry would be unironically excited for this. Vanilla WoW sucked 15 years ago and it's gonna suck just as much now.
Eat shit vanillafags. World of Warcraft was never a good game. It will never be a good game and it singlehandedly killed an awesome genre of video games with tons of promise.
You're wrong, but also right. You're wrong because vanilla was genuinely good and bridged the gap occupying the perfect middle ground between a hardcore mmo and a casual themepark fest, but what happened to it next is inexcusable and it really did ruin the genre. Anyone that expects nublizzard to replicate the same choices made with completely different design decisions in mind, is delusional and it has nothing to do with nostalgia and everything to do with evidence already presented by what the company is like right now, completely out of touch with their playerbase, standoffish if not outright spiteful, only in the pursuit of revenue.

I can see why people might like vanilla wow for gameplay reasons. The delusion I see though is the idea that the community was better than the current games, in my opinion the playerbase was always dumb shitters and assholes. It was one or the other and I think that is where the rude awakening is going to set in for the people who were twelve when the game came out and realize they don't have their friends from school anymore to play with and they have to actually engage with WoW's awful community that has been shit forever.
James Richardson
We went from pic related to linear as fuck character progression as seen in babby's first MMO World of Warcraft
Imo the community wasn't better in vanilla, but you were forced to interact with other players more
Aiden Torres
It's less about what the playerbase is actually like and more about how the game makes people interact with others. It's just as game among all others, so it draws people from about the same set of people. Pick two random games and you'll find that their playerbases most likely overlap, although one game may draw people more like x and the other more like y (replace x and y with any human trait).
That's why there was nothing particularly special about the playerbase in vanilla, and why there won't be now either. However, even if you have the exact same playerbase, you can get massively different behavior from them in different games. Put them in one game and you'll find that they will hardly talk to each other, put them in another and they'll spend a lot of time raging at their teammates, put them somewhere else and they'll get along fine. Vanilla with its design seemed to encourage positive interaction, made it easy to find people you got along with and fostered a good community.

This.
>implying shitty nu-blizzard can manage to make a great MMO in 2019
is it possible to become relevant in Vanilla without raiding?
Michael Myers
Even 15 years ago when they were considered great, they weren't. They just made overproduced, soulless garbage that was streamlined enough for your average braindead retard that could operate a computer past an installation screen to play their shitty game.
The only remotely original thing they've ever put out of quality was Diablo and that dude left the company almost 20 fucking years ago.
Agreed, Blizzard is the most overrated company in all of entertainment and I can't believe anyone is unironically excited for the game they played 15 fucking years ago because a bunch of nostalgia-baiting fuckheads on private servers convinced people who likely never even played the original that it was TOTALLY BETTER AND AWESOME BRO
Videos wrong though, WoW was never good. Not only did it ruin MMOs by making every MMO into a clone of it, but because the basis of WoW is also shit.
Jason Roberts
Saw the video a long time ago. I don't think he's saying it's a good game, he's just saying it's good for what it was and what it was is a surface level "you are the chosen one go do linear quests/dungeons/raids" MMO"RPG"
Even I'll admit it's successful in what it tries to do, just that what it tries to do is shitty and dumb and ruined the entire genre for everyone.
It's real and it was pretty cool user. You missed out. Would've played it more if Star Wars Galaxies wasn't eating up my time back when it was still the most amazing game ever made.
Grayson Morales
Dwarf Hunter or Undead Warlock I can't decide aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I changed my mind 20 times already
Adrian Richardson
Vanilla WoW was never good because 2/3rds of its specs were useless, and it took no less than 8 years until WoTLK came out for them to fix that.
From what I've read, ret paladin leveling slows down even more somehow around level 45. Would this be the proper time to respec to an aoe grinding/tanking build?
Lincoln Rodriguez
never ever and why would you want it? procedural gen without a decent algorithm is a meme. Wurm was just a shitty supplement for The Elder Scrolls Chapter III:Tribunal we never got
daily reminder that Daggerfall was going to get a sequel where players would've replaced NPCs and would've been the first 3D MMO a whole two years before Everquest came out.
>blaming Blizzard for making what the market wanted
Henry Roberts
Don't you respec to reck build in the early 30s or something for the quickest leveling?
Leo Edwards
that's going off of private servers. the "spamming /sit to get hit and crit by mobs to quickly build reckoning charges" won't work on retail. I'm thinking about a build like this to aoe farm and tank: classic.wowhead.com/talent-calc/paladin/AswQAz8fDQM_DMw
Ethan Morgan
Problem is the market didn't even have a chance at knowing any better. EVE Online was too inaccessible, Star Wars Galaxies was cucked by George Lucas coming in and focus testing the game because he was butthurt that a RTS spinoff MMO was outperforming the only Star Wars massively multiplayer online game on the market. Ultima Online was almost a decade old at that point and Turbine turned Middle Earth Online into Lord of the Rings Online "be the unseen, unsung hero of JRR Tolkien's trilogy" when it was intended to be Ultima Online in 3D in Middle Earth.
What a shame. People didn't even get a chance to decide what was better.
That is part of my point though. Eve is inaccessible for the same reason that Wow isn't.
Ultimately, most gamers (even most MMO playing people specifically) are not all that interested in more spreadsheet-y games. They appeal to a very limited crowd that enjoys that kind of micromanagement and planning, but are boring to most players. WoW did well precisely because it was accessible and simple to just jump into even in Vanilla. Sure, if it hadn't given people what they wanted and shown other companies what the successful model was, you might have gotten a few more spreadsheety MMOs, but they'd be small and low budget just like they were up to that point.
The truth is that for better or worse, people decided what was better.
>the "spamming /sit to get hit and crit by mobs to quickly build reckoning charges" won't work on retail. What? Why wouldn't it?
Samuel Wright
Huh, the video was very informative. And I must say, the author has a point.
Hunter Carter
>What? Why wouldn't it? it was something exclusive to private servers, and I believe TBC onward. The Vanilla server files that private servers use today was originally a TBC server, built backwards to become a Vanilla server. From 2006: >Can I sit down to force a crit and gain a charge? Charges will not generate off auto attacks or npc attacks by trying to sit down and force a crit. However, ability crits from physical abilities such as Sinister Strike, Hamstring, Auto-shot, Aimed shot, etc will generate a charge if you're sitting.
Jaxon Peterson
Huh. How about that. Then yes I guess. You might be better off swapping over.
Nicholas Nelson
Same thing also applies to the warrior shit like enrage and blood craze.
Adam Fisher
>condemns nostalgiafaggotry >commits nostalgiafaggotry himself hmm...
Hudson Collins
cringe
Luis Rodriguez
it was an alright game with a really good community. the login was also kino as the world turned from code to realistic
Parker Long
>youtube.com/watch?v=nvK8fua6O64 I just want an MMO where you are limited to a single character and crafting is a character option you invest in at the cost of combat stuff.
Ethan Flores
>buttmad vanillafag hmmm....
Carter Ward
there will be many things that are different from how they are on private servers. it'll be interesting to see people acclimate to the way things are supposed to be.
Dominic Thompson
migrate. let this shit thread be wiped from the buttcrack that is 4channel
Adrian Lee
>nooo please don't insult muh classic WoW
William Green
t. butthurt shit-eater nigger imagine having such a sad life that you need to post this
Josiah Rivera
So this is the maturity of WoW fans....impressive...
Luke Morris
Imagine being this defensive over a corporate product made solely to fleece money out of NEETs and their mothers
Camden Torres
It must be nice enjoying your little echo chamber over there. Simulating the community WoW:Classic will garner at launch preemptively. Outside of an echochamber of nostalgia circlejerking faggots, no one gives a fuck!
Isaac Gray
is that Gigaboomer ?
Daniel Taylor
This. Blizzard outside of its little echo chamber is already pretty fucking irrelevant so watching a bunch of delusional nostalgiabaited fucktards convince themselves that they're "going home" and it's going to be 2004 all over again is pretty funny.
o yeah? you think you do but you don't lmao stop having fun stop finding joy in things stop having hope stop having something to look forward to be as miserable as me because misery loves company
I always knew WoW players were homosexuals. Stop trying to convince people to join your circlejerk. Just make a /vg/ thread and be done with it.
Oliver Harris
Fuck you
Thomas Long
>being this infatuated with homosexuals let me guess, you also have mommy issues?
Xavier Jones
You're the one posting a bunch of topless wojaks hugging each other in a circle
Ryan Murphy
You're not the only one who finds the vanilla WoW community to be extremely homoerotic. I'm pretty sure if an IRL meetup happened that I'd be offered a blowjob by several neckbeards just because I belong to the "community"
Just imagine having a sense of "community" because you all played the same shitty MMO fifteen fucking years ago.
Blake Thompson
Actually I'm not. That's someone else. Also: >he equates hugging with homosexual intercourse do you also see homosexuals when you look at an ink blot test? or when you look at the clouds?
Levi Morgan
Linear shit started with EQ and being restricted to 1 class
Chase Baker
>being this buttblasted about an image of wojaks hugging eachother the absolute state of Yea Forums holy fuck
