People think that Haki made every devil fruit meaningless outside of combat. Thing is that without a means to bypass a lot of DF nonsense like Logias, the series would devolve into a "challenge of the week" shonen with half the plot based around find out how to beat the new baddies devil fruit. Think Jojo how they sometimes spend chapters trying to understand the enemy stand

If all haki did was let you damage logia users then there would be no point in logias even being a thing. At least it comes with additional defensive and observational benefits that everyone, including logias, can benefit from. It gives the combat and power system more depth and levels the playing field so that people like Kizaru can't just godmode one shot everything. Plus it gives characters without devil fruits the potential to hold their own in combat. I'm infinitely more interested in seeing what Shanks or Garp can do knowing that they rely purely on haki rather than some random OP fruit. Conqueror's haki is the only thing that needs to be more developed and refined, but all in all I really don't see the downsides of haki as an addition to the story.

I personally don't understand that. All haki does is create a greater power gap between certain people. Many devil fruits are just as useful as they were pre-haki, if not more. Maybe logia fruits got a slight nerf but honestly I'm gonna hold out on that until we see what an awakened logia can do, because for all we know that shit might put logias back on top of the heirarchy. Just look at what Akainu and Aokiji did to Punk Hazard.

Yea except Luffy was legitimately stronger than almost all those characters at the time that he fought them. Every single yonko that Luffy has attacked thus far has not been phased at all by gear 4. At the current point in One Piece both Kaido and Big Mom are totally in the right for underestimating Luffy because they are both significantly stronger than him, at least right now. If he develops a fifth gear in this arc, then that's a different story.

Hitting enemies doesnt feel good. movement around the map is ass (often times the grab fucks you over and doesnt actually help you clear over ledges). Boring OC story. It's goten even better imo, but it depends on your tastes. In the last few arcs since Dressrosa the worldbuilding/lore, character development, and power scaling has been cranked up significantly. The most compelling and well-written fight in the entire series happened fairly recently and additionally we've already seen Luffy come face to face with 2 of the Yonko. Some crew members get some phat powerups, including Luffy, and we have been introduced to presumably the most mysterious character in the series by a mile. The current arc is maybe 20% of the way through and it's already getting pretty crazy.

I highly recommend catching up.

Top that off with the fact that she's a literal cannibal and has an incredibly unpredictable nature wherein she can get hunger pangs at a moment's notice. In which case she practically becomes a kaiju and destroys entire cities, not even hesitating to kill her own citizens or family members. She tanked Luffy's Gear 4 with no effort and nearly shredded the Sunny in half. Honestly, what the fuck more could Oda have done to sell this character?

Sometimes I hear the arguments against haki and it's I swear it's like they only hate having a name to it. If Oda never coined the term Observation and just left it at "I can see your punch coming because my experience in battle tells me to be ready for it" there would be so many fewer posts talking about power levels and whatever.
Same with Armament; it plainly makes sense that if 2 people are facing off and have roughly the same amount of skill, the stronger/more experienced person wins

It's not hard to figure out. The time skip debut was a big deal back then, and people were eagerly awaiting to see what 2 years would to to change the main characters. It only makes sense that their second "debut" would leave a lasting impression and be marketable to almost a fault.
