Not really? They made Rambo the Elephant which was multiplatform and they dish out a lot of pokemon phone games out by their own volition, way before Nintendo started doing it. Nintendo clearly owns a significant portion of the Pokemon franchise, but their development's on Gamefreak's hands clearly independently.
