A Meleevania is a game that the fanbase deludes themselves into thinking is good because the there is often a long time between said game and it's follow up, usually greater than 5 years. During this time, the content-starved fanbase, continues playing the game with the idea it is a good game because they have been playing it so long when in fact the opposite is true, the game is mediocre and they only play it because they have nothing else to look forward to. In turn, this leads them to expect the sequel to be a carbon copy of the Meleevania because their minds have rotted and can't see themselves playing anything besides it, despite clamoring for a sequel.

I love the inclusion of Third Strike here since it is SO overrated. Basically everything people complain about for Street Fighter V applies to Third Strike:
