Started SMT4 the other day. Honestly it's fun but Jesus Christ the beginning was rough. Minotaur fucked me up a couple times since I didn't really have many demons to work with, and Medusa was a bitch because I couldn't buy any bullet proof armor that early.

Well once you beat those two bosses you are officially past the difficult part of the game. You should steamroll everything that comes afterwards because it is far easier. Good luck if you are trying to do the neutral ending because getting in the right alignment point range is almost impossible.

SMT1 is my second mainline game and honestly it's pretty underappreciated from what I've seen.
I mean yeah things like inventory management and demon fusion feels a bit tedious cause of the menus you gotta go through to find basic information/stats but it's still a lot of fun today.

SMTI never stood a chance in a 90's America, though even then I doubt it would be a classic. It would have maybe gained a cult following but even had it came here somehow I can't imagine it wouldn't have been butchered to hell and back.

What's giving you problems? SMTIV is easy after Medusa beside the dlc bosses. Lucifer and Merkahbah aren't hard really beside maybe a occasional instant death spell but that's more annoying then anything.
Magic is generally considered better for Serph in DDS1 but either a physical or magic build is fine. In DDS1 if you want you can try focusing on only three party members if you really want though it'll make some of the optional bosses harder.

You can use Heat if you want in DDS1, but Mantras are so expensive that it's best to commit to 3 party members. For the sequel, I strongly, strongly suggest you use Serph, Gale, and Cielo as your party because you have to fight an ungodly difficult boss using those three, and Cielo is much better than he was in the first game due tosignificantly less ailment spam. And make sure they have Zio skills.

Most I remember is people complaining about the ending and path when they took the friendship route. Dagda's route was super based not because of the edge of killing everyone but the Satan and YHVH fights. Those dialogue options were amazing.

Not disagreeing, the game really did focus a good amount on friendships as opposed to previous games. But many complaints I heard from people were about the ending itself after they said they chose the friendship path. Once everyone played both paths, discussion kinda just reached a head and now everyone's waiting for 5.

I for one hope I can chose either sex, have all the demons in from previous games in 3Ds and that they keep the fucking battle system from A because that is the best in the fucking series. Also I want a way to look or visit other countries for extra demon missions.

Because Dracula falls into a weird category. While older games included some demons base don pop culture the more recent series entries have done away with them. Dracula is a weird case as while his origin is interesting he doesn't fit the role of being from a real mythology/religion/folklore/urban legend. In earlier games a generic vampire did appear though.
