He's a poor addition to the DMC series and I don't understand why they're pushing him so hard. It almost feels like someone's kid created a character and their parent on the dev team is doing everything that can to wedge him in the games.
Dante is the main character of this series and he's fundamentally the most enjoyable to play as. He's also the most likable and rarely irritating or douchey. Nero's an angsty little turd that I hated in DMC4 and I still hate in DMC5. Sure Devil Breakers and Exceed are reasonably interesting, but they're still much worse that actually having a selection of weapons to choose from. And his affect on the story is fucking terrible. Him being Vergil's kids is stupid and him somehow having the most powerful demon-whatever power is nonsense. Again, he feels like an immature person's idea of a good character.
Anyway, yeah. His gameplay is fine, but I wish they're scrap the character and just integrate Devil Breakers and Exceed into Dante somehow.
I like Dante more than Nero but I like playing as Nero more in both 4 and 5 2bh

dante was fine in dmc3, he acts like a retard because he's a child and the game constantly shits on him for it, then he smartens up at the end. the anime (which came out before 4 ) doesn't have him acting like this either, instead he's more like dmc1 dante much like the end of dmc3
it's only because dmc4 is a shitty unfinished game that they turned dante into le cuhrayzee man and even dmc5 walked back a lot of that horseshit

Nero was created because it's hard to write meaningful threats to Dante since he beat the king of hell in 1 and is meant to keep growing in power. What do you throw at him aside from his twin?
