>6 year old niece annoying the shit out of me
>boot up A Hat in Time for her to play so she fucks off
>give her a controller
>she barely walks around without even trying to control the camera and can't do a single jump on her own
why are zoomers so bad at vidya?
6 year old niece annoying the shit out of me
You expect a kid 10 years younger than you to understand a game just because you put it in front of them?
I know what you mean, my niece is around the same age and sucks ass too. She could beat these easy games by herself but just doesn't want to think or do anything herself, she needs to bug me every 3 seconds for help.
when I was six years old I was playing Mario 1 like it was nothing, and hat in time is baby easy.
Depends on the person. I had zero competence in video games until i was about 8
games are basically an iq test. If you can't figure things out on your own from an early age then you're a fucking waste of life
How the fuck do you think we became gamers?
>Years and years ago, like more than a decade
>Playing Halo 2 one time
>My cousin is over
>Hand her the controller so she can play
>It's like she lacks all spatial awareness and cannot comprehend X and Y axis and moving about in 3D space
>Can't tell if it's just a girl thing or something about her just not being very well acquainted with video games at the time
She's 6 and is used to touchscreens, not controllers. If you can't figure that out you're a retard and if you don't help her out you're a shit uncle.
>giving someone new to video games A Hack in Time
I would probably never touch games again if that piece of shit were my first exposure to the hobby.
>go to friend's house
>her little brother (5) wants to play video games with me
>sure
>put on GT: Sport
>he refuses to play any track but the Indycar loop, can't comprehend slowing down for the bends and crashes on literally every approach
>disappointed but ok
>he asks to put on rayman
>sure
>To my amazement he's actually competent
There is hope for the future
>6 year old
>zoomer
Isn't she part of another generation now?
Could be worse. Never bring kids anywhere with a piano.
>6 year old niece annoying the shit out of me
you just know she wants the D user
I understand the kid, i suck at racing games, fucking mystery games is what they are.
what rayman? if you say 1 I'll flip shit
More or less a girl thing, they have worse spacial perception and find it harder to figure out fps games in particular
>girl comes around one day
>I offer to play video games with her to pass some time
>throw on GTA 5, figure she'll have some vague awareness
>she can barely move in a straight line
>she literally can't do the beginning shooting segment because she couldn't figure out that you need to put the crosshair on an enemy to shoot at them
>tortuous to watch, I try to help her out but she still doesn't get it so I give up
Another time, different girl:
>I mention that I play video games a bunch on my PC
>her eyes light up
>asks what I have
>list off a few titles including Outlast
>turns out she's a horror nut and has watched the game through multiple times on YouTube and has completed it several times on the hardest difficulty herself
>mfw
nice try user
Hey guy, I appreciated your attempt at btfoing op. Keep on keeping on
Legends, so it's actually vaguely similar I guess. He was big into Resi too, and we had a blast in Resi 5 (the family favourite apparently) mercenaries. I'm going to try to buy RE2make when I can for them so we can have a swell time and such
you're saying a 5 year old was "big into resi"?
Based
Yup, he didn't complete any of them or anything but just loved fucking around in mercs with his dad iirc
My then-6 year old niece played through and beat Pokemon Ultra Moon over summer a year ago. To test her, I put her in front of my computer with the original Doom loaded and told her if she could beat the first level we'd go for ice cream. She found the secret. She got her ice cream.
I have a sore throat and slept for 20 hours today. What video game should I play? Movie/shows to watch will also be accepted.
weird kid. when I was 5 I was horrified of RE1. my older sister used to scare me by pretending to be turning into a zombie.
good genes
I learned how to read by playing RPGs in the SNES era. Right after I learned what letters were in kindergarten I was off to the races before they ever taught me in school. There's no excuse for some retard to not know how to jump
Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time
Did she fuck you afterwards
subtle kek
good one
>6 year old
Cmon at least wait for her period or something goddamn
>7 year old sister starts watching pokemon
>Wants to play a game so I let her play ultra moon
>can't even figure out how to beat Hau.
I'll chalk it up to the fact that pokemon isn't translated in our native language and that she doesn't understand english.
Based uncleposter
I was 5 when Symphony of the Night released and I couldn't beat Slogra and Gabon because I didn't understand how to equip things. Maybe 2 or 3 years later I cleared that game, true ending, in like a few days of time. She's at an age where it's reasonable for her to not understand how to navigate things well.
user I think you're expecting too much from a six year old girl
i could beat dark touhous on insane extreme european difficulty when i was 3 seconds old
I think a lot of people were retarded at the age of 6. For example, I was too brainlet (and scared of Redeads) to do anything as Adult Link in Ocarina of Time, so I'd play the entire child segment of the game over and over again. In Mystical Ninja 2, I could really only get as far as the island world. At night time in that game, I would put down the controller and wait until dawn because the night-time monsters scared me.
only people who were molested get this
>11 year old cousin gets a SNES mini for Christmas
>wants to play SMW co-op
>has a hard time surviving levels and navigating a 2D plain
>he's able to play 3D games just fine
Some kids just can't grasp certain things if they aren't used to them I guess. It's still weird seeing someone struggle with something so simple yet can play other more mechanically complicated games
Depends on the things he has to do on the 2D plain and the game he plays on the 3D one. I have a cousin who can play just fine through all Gears of War games but can't finish a Mario game because he keeps falling into the instant death pits. It dawned on me them that video games these days just don't have instant death traps on them and after watching him play 3D shooters he just rushes the enemies on easy so nothing can really kill him at all so obviously his strategy on every other game is to rush everything and get confused when you die in one/two hits.
Well, at least my 60 year old mom can play Spyro somewhat
>tfw little sister who used to constantly beg me to play games with her no longer wants to play games with me and sees it as a chore
>tfw you learned more about history and literature from vidya than 12 years of public school and 5 years of college
>tfw you learned multiple languages via vidya
>gamers
Time to die.
just fuck her,
I fear this when I become an uncle.
damn now this is a post for the ages....of gamers! can we get a rising up going?...
I played mario when I was three and beat it when I was four.
My first real game was donkey kong land when I was six, I wasn’t good but I could certainly play it
>tfw been an uncle for 13 years
>tfw niece and nephews always begs brother to get me to visit
>niece likes me the most and always runs up to give me a big hug
>all i do is sit next to her and smile and keep the drawings she gives me while trying to make a few clean jokes with my brother
i basically do nothing and maybe play the odd game with her and my nephews and i still get the same amount of love as 10 years ago. you don't have to worry unless you see them every day
haha hat in time thread?
Now post without the stockings.
I got stunt race FX when I was 5 for the snes.
It was 3D, also played mario 3 when I was 3.
My dad still remembers me calling him a dumbass when when he sucked at it and that I took the controller from him.
Tbf he was bad at it. He was fine at starfox.
I was playing games around her age 20 years ago. Granted, 2D games were easier to grasp than 3D ones so yeah.
Yes, I’m sure there was a global IQ drop from your generation to your niece’s, you stupid asshole.
Post your IQ test results
My 1 year old could move the fucking camera while I was playing AHiT, particularly just in time to make me miss jumps.
She's 2 now and can hold a controller from watching me, I give her a controller while I play and she pretends like she's playing, she doesn't really get anywhere if I let her play herself.
Maybe their parents just don't vidya.
Its because their girls
>has a kid
>plays hat in time
pedo alert
this. seriously and when we learned how to play there was no internet. if you didnt know what to do you were shit out of luck
not if you called the nintendo hotline :^)
Because they were conditioned by shitty tablet games with minimal input growing up. When millennials were getting just old enough to start playing games what they had access to were systems and games designed to test your skills, your niece was given something designed to be as simplistic and over-rewarding as possible. Its not her fault, its the piece of shit gen x-ers/millennials who turned gaming into what it is today.
They also try to touch your tv because they think that's how it works.
Most kids probably don't see buttons unless their parents have tv romotes or play pc/console vidya with a controller themselves.
Well see there's a difference here.
When I was 8 years old, I only had a few selection of games to play. Few. Only like 4 games for my SNES back then, nothing else.
I'd play and play and play those games over and over again, every single day. Of course I'd eventually get good at them and beat them.
I'm sure many of us only had few games to play when we were kids too. Back in 2005 when I got a gamecube, I only played Melee, and new games only came on special occasions like birthdays or holidays.
But today? Kids have access to too many games. The attention span and dedication to a single or a couple few games is gone because of this. They just have too many games to play on their phone/tablet etc.
When my nephews come to visit and I let them play MK8 on my Switch, they play maybe 3 or 4 races before getting bored and telling me to put them a new game.
It's just how shit is these days with this new generation.
Oh man, I tried it playing gears 1 with my younger brother once. I don’t know if it was going the split screen or the washed out palette but I couldn’t navigate that game for shit. I kept getting lost in the first few rooms
heh...
It's actually girls who are bad at vidya.
...that's not a picture of descartes
Beat Pokemon blue at 4 but then again girls can't into games
>Legends, so it's actually vaguely similar I guess.
Oh no it isn't.
Rayman 1 was brutal.
When I was 3 I beat the first dungeon in Zelda like it was nothing, got lost afterwards and gave up for 10 years.
I beat halo 2 when I was 6
Teach her how to play smart guy, girls generally can't learn anything without having a social element to the learning process.
>The number of anons actually giving decent familial advice outnumber the ironic and unironic give them the D anons
Holy shit anons actually age wtf how are there so many dad's and uncle anons
I'm only raising my younger siblings and showing them the vidya ways
Brother is a beast at platforming and rhythm games while sister is more a SRPG or JRPG player
Girls take MUCH longer to get used to 3d games. My GF really wanted to play Bloodborne and it took her a few months to really get used to moving around and controlling the camera.
Now she's okay at it, beat DaS3 twice even. Girls are slower, but not 100% incapable.
