sometimes, i feel like wanting a character in Smash isn't necessarily 100% about the character being playable, as a fighter, in Smash.
i feel like it is, of course, a part of the hype surrounding characters that people want in, but, the limelight "being in Smash Bros." gives a character is incredible, and puts a character into the mainstream immediately, causing more recognition and demand for that character to show up again.
"""irrelevant""" characters like k rool and the belmonts have gotten lots of fanart and attention, and even the more current characters like incin, joker, and isabelle have had a big boost in attention. they even gave a plant a "personality", and gave it a community
Smash does things to characters, and while thinking of playing as Geno, Banjo, 2B, even fuckin Plok may be fun to imagine, i feel the real thing hyping people up about characters they genuinely care about is the press they recieve, which is fully understandable.
Try a thousand spotlights and lime lights. Not to say that what you say is wrong, because it isn't. People often beg for their favorite characters for a multitude of reasons, being
>Part of their childhood >They enjoyed the character enough and genuinely want to see it get the love they think it deserves and want to see it grow >Possible moveset potential people may have for it or just overall potential when it comes to a new character not yet of that kind >The probability of having songs and stages based from that character or the game it comes from
Thing is, it takes a lot and I mean a lot to become a iconic character and of course, we've seen characters that haven't reached that goal yet stand out from the rest immediately the minute they get into Smash. K. Rool is part of a childhood, Isabelle is a character that immediately became iconic for its cuteness and kept rising, Simon is a protagonist from a franchise unbelievably popular from the past. Others, like Corrin, get a boost for marketability of a game and to help a franchise grow beyond it (for better or for worse). Fire Emblem got more and more popular the more characters came into Smash. Although these characters don't come without any projects or intentions by their side. Nintendo almost always has some sort of intention for each of them and it always depends on the characters' potential to stand out in its own franchise or better yet, stand out enough to make constant appearances in upcoming games, if so they are willing.

pfft, I hardly call my counters mature, although I do get long-winded. But yeah. And when it comes to personalities in Smash, I always sort of felt like as if Nintendo also takes advantage of fans who give a character a whole other side or traits they think this character owns. Like Rosalina, for instance, from first glance at her and not caring that much about her, you'd think of her as just a watcher in the stars. Her fans however, found appealing charm in her and built a second persona, if you will, of her being "gentle and motherly". I think Nintendo also really likes enjoying taking these bits and making this character coming true, by having it make into Smash with that bit of personality as well and giving it their own kind of "fan service" while respecting the character. Many Smash characters have this to them, if not all.
Thank you, friend. My personal reasoning for wanting Erdrick is similar to the reasons that you explain in the post. It can draw attention and bring characters in the mainstream. There have been so many DQ games released on the 3DS that were never released outside of Japan. It hurts to not get Joker 3 or Rocket Slime 3. I have wanted Erdrick as far back as Clouds announcement since that's when SE was willing to play ball, and since then I have seen many people being unfamiliar with Erdrick and DQ. I don't really blame them since it hasn't been marketed well in the west, but I am hoping Smash bros can change things. Additionally, I feel like there is enough to set Erdrick apart in such a way that he isn't as generic as many people might think. It also feels like DQ really deserves representation based on how heavily its history intertwines with both Nintendo and Video Games as a whole. I wish we could have gotten Geno too though. He would have been cool, and i don't believe him and Erdrick are mutually exclusive.

I push for Banjo-Kazooie because they have a significant place in my development as a gamer when I was young. I've been with them through the great and the not-so-great. I support them as a fighter not only for the fun moveset, but because we'll get to see the B-K universe in a new light. Plus it would be so sick to hear Grant Kirkhope's tunes remixed and used wholesale like Gang-plank Galleon.
I'd say roughly 90% of the reason I support them is because of my love of the character and franchise and the fame they would get by being in Smash Bros. It used to be 100%, but the push back from the trolls and haters made it 90% because I want them all to be proven wrong.

I'm honestly at the point where I don't really care what the DLC actually is anymore. I know for a fact I'll end up buying it no matter what it ends up being, so I find it hard to care anymore. Most of the ones that I actually want are so far fetched that I know they have 0 chance of happening. Doesn't mean I wouldn't be super excited for them, but I know it won't so I have little reason to care how things turn out.

Ladies and Gentlemen I have come to make an announcement. Steve may or may not be in and that's okay. I think it's cool that he generated so many OC and memes. He's supposed to be a parody of the inane and extreme roster faggotry that has been going rampant. The fact that so many people mistook the shitposting for granted and took it seriously is really funny.
Yeah, but mostly just like lizards and think he'd be cool because of that wild moveset and color change/protean and whatnot. And I remember he was like the first gen 3 pokemon revealed and he looked so exotic compared to the ones I'd grown up with. Really stood out in a good way and left a positive impression, a lot like togepi for gen 2.
I personally wanted Ridley not just because he's Samus nemesis and more or less deserved a spot, but because it would have been something that made it feel like Nintendo cared about Metroid again. They gave us Other M and then Federation Force and that was it within what, the span of ten years? I know some other franchises have had it as bad or worse and I feel for them. I love Metroid so that's why it's the franchise I supported for so long.
We got Return of Samus which was great even if I do wish it had been sprites. We got an announcement of MP4. Then we finally got Ridley and even Dark Samus playable in Smash. So to me Ridley not only deserved the spot but also was like Nintendo going "Yeah, Metroid is awesome so here's a badass space dragon who eats people on the roster for you fans who love Metroid." I will legit be heartbroken if he's ever cut from the roster in later installments. He really should be as much a staple of the roster now as Bowser.

I would love to see the amount of fan-art and love to come the bear and bird's way if they got in. Their inclusion would also feel like a bit of an olive branch from Microsoft to the fans, just to let them know that they haven't forgotten, and that plenty of fun games are still on the way.
I got him. After 11 years of hoping, wishing, and getting back up after getting knocked down, I got him. And I got all the things you mentioned from it. It's the happiest a video game has ever made me. It's kept me from contemplating suicide after I got dumped. It's a bitch an a half to find. Even now my copy is showing signs of wear and tear. Metal Arms was really an underrated game. It's gameplay is a bit shooter basic, but the worlds and characters are fun. Krunk, this grumpy mother fucker is a hoot to listen to, and is voiced by Mother fucking Homer Simpson no less. I think Patrick Warburton voiced a character in the game too. Good shit.
