I'd consider top-down and isometric 2.5D since they employ 2D sprites to give you a sense of 3D space (more so and more naturally than side scrolling where they have to harder work for it), but if you're trying to tell us that is 2.5D, you're sadly mistaken my friendo.

Doom is functionally totally 3D, it just uses sprites for characters because computers couldn't handle much more than that at the time. Modern 3D games even still use billboarded sprites like that today for a lot of things like particles or small spherical objects.

I typically see 2.5d used to either describe functionally 2D games with 3D graphics (e.g. Kirby 64) or games with fully 2D engines and rendering but simple faked "3D" like Golden Axe. I'm not sure which of those two is correct

The author went broke kickstarting his book and had a complete mental breakdown over the evils of capitalism and the very concept of money. He spent his last dime taping a wasp into each individual book instead of shipping them, and then set a hundred sold but unshipped copies of them on fire.
He also burned one additional book every time someone asked him where their book was, or pointed out how silly he was being.
It's worth digging up his rants if you can find them: batshit demands like forcing all of his fans to just donate a living wage to him for no compensation (this was before Patreon), and some nonsense about how he spent years pretending to be a depressed tranny for the extra sympathy money (and then actually becoming a depressed tranny).
