I don't get what you meant with the hitboxes though, aside from Faust's, they're mostly well crafted and allows for different moves to high or low crush easily for instance

I did. I suck at fighting games. Trying a bunch of anime games out at once. Not sure which I'll stick with. I do love the Trigun/Hard Rock aesthetics I get from Guilty Gear though. Reminds me of a late 90's/early 00's anime.

I used to love Guilty Gear but Xrd went too far in the anime direction and dropped the ball on the overt heavy metal influence. All the waifu bait characters don't help. I'll be picking up GGXX for the Switch though. I still support the series, even if I don't play as much as before.

I just keep Home Sweet Grave on repeat because I don't really like the Xrd songs. It's true I coud go and unlock the other classic songs though since I haven't heard them.

They do, but it's not quite the same. Not trolling. Part of the issue is probably that my monitor is very colorful with high saturation, so the visual effects tend to grate on the eyes after a while. I'll experiment with custom display settings and see if it doesn't help the issue.

I have to agree. The new tracks bar maybe a couple (Millia's comes to mind, if repetitive) are a let down compared to even Isuka's efforts. Daisuke is god, but he's not below putting out stinkers, like any artist.

GG was always a waifu game. The classic games have the exact same poses, characters, and animations. The only thing that held previous games back from going full ham was their technical limitations

You think Mr. Director has lost his touch? I watched an interview recently, talking about first creating GG and purposely making it "hard," as in complex and difficult to pick up (hardcore). Xrd moved away from that. and now I think they're trying to make the games even easier.

Of course, this doesn't have much to do with art and sound direction, but I wonder if that isn't something to point to as an explanation for the general blandness/generic direction compared to previous games.

It's okay, but it still lacks a lot of the personality of X's sound track. Outside of a few bits it feels like you could pass it to another character and it would work mostly the same.

I don't know, I don't get the impression that there was ever an intent to make her a full on monster girl, so the notion of it just seems very distant from how I view the character currently. She's probably my favorite girl added since Xrd, but I think the guys added to Xrd have been a lot more memorable, I adore Answer and Bedman and Leo, though he's very straightforward in his design, is cool as well. I think Kum would be my favorite girl that's been added if the mech element of the character were emphasized more. As is she barely has any animations that make a point of the fact that the old guy is just a mech, which is pretty disappointing seeing as I generally consider Guilty Gear to be very good at conveying a character's personality and character through their moves and animations, but Kum being a girl ends up feeling a bit tacked on so that they don't just have a character that's just an old guy.

I'm too busy with Tekken and Unist but maybe i'll get into GG when they release a new one or if i get tired of the games i play

I haven't been able to play recently so I can't speak for how it is right now, but I did start playing in the middle of the game's lifecycle, and I got by okay even though it was mostly decent or great people playing at that point. You'll always get the occasional newcomer, and as long as you're enjoying the game itself enough you'll be willing to stick with it even through the losses.

I'd say most of the new tracks suit their character just fine. I do think the SIGN tracks are pretty weak generally speaking, but they've been good since Revelator.

Completely agree. but I feel this way about newcomers in general. They're sorta ... halfbaked? Like, this is Guilty Gear. Even a generic swordsman character gets the METALASFUCK treatment in form of one arm, one eye, big tits! Baiken has personality. What we get now feels too much like pandering, or something you'd find in any generic anime game like BlazBlue..

They haven't announced it yet so I'm going to guess no. Though you could always emulate it.

I feel that way about some of the characters, but some still show plenty of personality. Answer's definitely my favourite newcomer for example, and he has personality in everything he does. His weapons and blocking tie in to his businessman side, his commitment to his job is seen constantly with him on the phone, and you see that in other animations to like when he's staggered and he starts juggling it trying not to drop it. His professionalism is apparent with his upright posture and how he bows in his winning animations, and there's parts of his personality outside of his job that can be seen too like how in his crouching idle animation the person on the other end starts yelling at him and he starts muttering complaints to himself, only to apologize to the person he's talking to. All of that is done without sacrificing the ninja side of him with his teleports, his clones and his summons. He even does half of a Naruto run, just with one arm kept on his phone. There are some newcomers that don't show quite as much character as that, but that they can still pump out a character like Answer says to me that they're more than capable of doing a great job of showing off who a character is just through their moves and animations.
