I can't into mahjong but I was wondering about the context of these scenes in the game. I know the girls strip as you beat them at mahjong, but are they just pics or is there dialogue too? And do they just get naked or are they outright sex scenes? I'm curious to know how much was allowed on Switch nowadays since even all the eroge available on it are all-ages version which as far as I know completely remove the sex scenes.

yeah, ESRB is more lenient on nudity than CERO because Japan's policies on porn are already absurd, the only saving grace for gaming in Japan is that PC is not regulated at all(that's the loophole Capcom does to release games like RE uncensored down there)

I worded this in a misleading way. If a game is Japanese, then it's going to have genitals censored in the first place because it can't be rated on consoles otherwise. If a game is western, it usually can. It doesn't have to do with the region it's released in, i.e. a Japanese game can potentially be released uncensored in the west while a western game can't be released uncensored in Japan.

Also note that this basically never happens because due to the regulations, a Japanese game on consoles is typically made without full nudity in the first place so there is nothing to uncensor.

It came out last July, been a while already and it's just a remaster of a Japan-only PS3 game so I don't think Sega was banking very much on it. Personally I found it okay, it's a bog-standard fantasy action jrpg but it's pleasant enough for a playthrough and the characters are nice (even the guys, not just the waifus). I think it's currently 66% off on Steam which I'd consider a good deal.

Nintendo didn't censor it, CERO doesn't allow nudity in console games, there was no CERO rating on the Saturn era.

So what likely happened here is that the dev tried to submit it to CERO uncensored and it got unrated, then Nintendo refused to let the game come out on the eShop without a rating and the devs re-issued it to CERO with the light beams, which caused the slight delay.

The Saturn release was from before CERO and ratings were a thing, and thus had no rating.
The Switch re-release is a post-CERO release, and CERO doesn't allow tits. That's the extent of this story really.

I played it on Switch, it's fine since it's just a remaster from last gen, I had no issues throughout both in docked and handheld mode. I'm pretty sure it's already been on sale on Switch too.
