I'd gladly contribute, but I've played a localised version, so I have no idea how everything was called in the original one
I wish the thread will take off OP, S&M were one of the last great point and click games, all 3 seasons
Humor:
Telltale > Lucasarts
Gameplay
Lucasarts > Telltale
What about music?
I don't really remember much of Hit the Road soundtrack so I can't compare, but the new Sam&Max games had some great tracks
>Hit the Road soundtrack
I do remember liking the villain's song, but I can't remember much of the others.
shame that telltale turned 180 and went straight for the sjw crowd that doesnt really play games no matter the _soy content in them.
Instead sam and max games they made the walking cuck and bad brother grimm stories bootleg and eventually bankrupt.
Telltale had some really good background tracks,
as well as
youtube.com
and
youtube.com
Hit and road had King of the Creatures and not much else.
I never got past the cake puzzle
Telltale
J EDGAR HOOVER ALWAYS INSISTS
ORGANIZED CRIME JUST DOESN'T EXIST
More like Huge Faggot.
>War!
Fuck, you reminded me of it, now it's going to get stuck in my head for days again
Also the credits song was pretty good. But most of simple background music was great as well
>Be me try to say this as often as I can to people
>Nobody knows what I'm referring to
Which is your favorite episode?
the last one
its was the most polished of them all played fantastically
hit the road main theme was so good that they remixed it for season 1
youtube.com
Anyone here played hector badge of carnage?
I am now at episode 2 and it is really good. At first i thought it was going to be a just a low budget and pure toilet humor game. But it turned out to be surprisingly good and addicting.
I remember really liking the music during the "final boss" of season 1
is this from one of those christian animated movies? is he the evil guy because he's gay? if not it should be
>is this from one of those christian animated movies?
No
>is he the evil guy because he's gay?
Eh... kinda
Not going to say Devil's Playhouse was perfect by any means
soundcloud.com
but it did do a lot right by tone and characterization
I am stuck on this episode because it's boring me.
No, he's evil because he wants everyone to be happy.
He's a colony of sentient bacteria that feeds on serotonin. He wants to imprint his own consciousness on the world to make everyone happy forever, robbing them of their free will, so he can feed.
>tfw if someone does end up with the rights to a Sam and Max game the result will probably be made too safe
Did you at least get to the sea monkeys?
that's where I fell off, yes.
I am upset about S&M being dead. Is anyone getting the figures though? They're looking pretty solid.
I have to replay season 2 and 3, I remember almost nothing from them
>we will never get a spiritual successor to the TV show as a mix of that, the telltale games, and the actual comics on adult swim
Come on, that's the best part. It also is only, like, 20 more minutes from there to the end.
I think the real issue is that they would add characters or characterizations for the sake of commentary rather than for the sake of humor. Like, Max as president is funny not because he's acting like any other president but because he's acting like Max doing 'normal' Max things but with the power of the entire free world behind him. And it doesn't even register as a blip on his radar when it comes down to getting Freelance Police work done.
Holy shit I did not know those even existed.
I would totally get the Sam if I had the cash for it.
I still need to beat S2. Sam & Max are too cute together
B A N A N G
hehehehe, good one.
Bullshit.
The Telltale games were good but they came REALLY fucking close to crossing over into family guy territory
It's at least true for early Telltale as shown by the Sam & Max games.
>saw the Telltale re-issue of Surfin' the Highway at my local comic book store back when it had just come out
>balked on it, decided to wait
>used copies are more than a hundred dollars online now
It's on both gog and steam, and its easy as fuck to pirate
Is that actually worth money?
I imported that in from America, along with the OSTs too.
Who would you want to make a new Sam and Max game?
I have pirated it, but I'm a big physicalfag when it comes to comic books, or any books, it's a great read either way but I like having big fat collections on my shelf.
Is anybody even making good point and click games nowadays?
I wanna say yes, but most of them are fucking tryhard ironic meme games that try too hard to be funny. Like thimbleweed park or the new Leasure Suite Larry
Moaia Blues is the worst episode in the series desu
It picks up again after that one
I loved the intro to Season 3, hope we get a new one someday
youtube.com
Also Office theme is maximum comfy
youtube.com
lucasarts gameplay ALWAYS sucked huge ass
this is a prime case of boomers liking something mostly because of nostalgia
>tfw Sam and max are dead forever
This doesn't crack me up little buddy.
At least the ending of season 3 was god tier, i'm gonna play hit the road again tonight. then gonna play some poker night 2. (that confirmed the new max don't have the same memory as the old one, sad that the original really is dead. )
at least they won't get ruined. sam and max probably are too offensive for now kek.
Wonder who could buy the game licence...THQ?
>tfw grew up with the comics, bought hit the road back in 1999 when i was still a kid, bought all the the telltale games, bought the two poker night.
I'm gonna miss them. I still think the telltale voice actors were the best ones, especially for season 3 max and Sam in general.
Steve Purcell still owns the rights. They'll always come back as long as he's in charge.
They're even getting new toys
Fuck, i need to buy this Sam figure.
Yeah, steve isn't dumb, he won't work on it anymore but won't give the right to anyone who could "ruin them".
>TV show
I swear I had to rewatch each episode to catch atleast half the jokes. How did they expect kids to process this?
I hope we talking sam & max only where it might be true.
If we talking in general ,monkey island series alone destroy every game up to now in term of jokes.
what gameplay are we even talking about fags?
If you talking about dialogues & interactions, lucasart is miles ahead in that except for full throttle that was really weak in that regard.
If you mean puzzles difficulty curve.
Day of tentacle is unironically the best designed point & click in term of puzzles.
The TV is criminally underrated, still funny as fuck to this day.
>post responding to a post about differences in gameplay and humor
>i think old gameplay sucks
>hurr durr are you talking about dialogues & interactions
you are fucking retarded
TV show*
Abe Lincolon Must Die
>he won't work on it anymore
Did he say that? He'll still make one panel comics sometimes on facebook
Man what went wrong with Telltale? They were so good back when they made actual adventure games.
>dialogues & interactions are the heart of gameplay in this kind of games ,you fucking braindead zoomer.
What do you think is the difference between a point &click and a puzzle game?
I would ask how could anyone ruin such an iconic duo, then I remembered the state of Yea Forums
I'm almost afraid to ask, but what happened?
If only.
Oh just the usual cal arts garbage. Just imagine what modern cartoon network could do to Sam and Max.
Fucking hell those toys are looking good
Traveling back in time, impersonating a network exec and ordering more seasons of the original Sam & Max show is literally the only way we'll ever seen another good cartoon. The industry is fucking cursed, it's worse than vidya.
Fucking delete this
This is the future of animation, friend.
majority of AAA industry wenr that direction - they'd be the sj's laughing stock (sorry, i mean verbally lynched to pieces)
Sam and Max shouldn't be a kids show. It's never really been kid friendly. It's a wonder how the hell we even got the FOX
Kids show to begin with, and even then it doesn't completely match the style as any of the other series. Netflix and [AS] are really the only two sensible places to put a S&M show in.
I didn't realize I clicked on a cursed pics thread
Here's Sam
And here is Sam.. Uh I mean Max.
it fixes it a little
Which Sam voice is the best; Cartoon, Hit the Road, or Telltale?
Nah, LucasArts beats Telltale in everything, classic Sam & Max humor was so superior to the new games it's not even funny. I did enjoy the Telltale adventure games though, shame their focus on TWD and going nuts ruined everything.
Hit the Road. The Cartoon is that actors typical voice and Telltale's voice is too normal sounding. He's supposed to sound like a old noir detective
Sam and Max never dies, they just slumber.
(Ignore the time Max actually died)
Mix of Freelance and Telltale.
Telltale Max post episode one is the best one though.
Sybil is an underrated Waifu
Don't NTR Lincoln.
Fuck you, lincoln deserves to be NTR'd. I don't even like Sybil but he's a right fucking asshat.
Is she meant to be based off this?
how are seasons 2 and 3? I only played one
Did you teared up a little?
A bit worse, but still very good
What was the point of her being a mermaid? Why did they just dump all that random information in the last episode in one minute of dialogue?
Is there a reason why a lot of people disliked season 3? I thought the new emphasis on continuity and drama was an interesting direction.
absolute kino
Good thing i saved the perfect reaction image for that.
She's not a mermaid she's a living cake made by Old Stinky.
Is there a reason they couldn't bring back Bosco?
I think the art direction might have put some people off maybe? My personal order is 1 > 3 > 2 but I like 'em all in the end.
to have his mom i guess.
It's a shame a poker night 3 will probably never happen, Bosco as a bartender would have been god tier. especially since he's now in vegas.
It had a much different atmosphere, took itself more seriously. I mean, in s1 you're literally saving the world, but it's still a silly comedy through and through. In 3 the jokes are still there, but it's darker and there genuinely is a sense of seriousness in this all. It's still very good though
Could adventures games like the sam and max games returns? are we in another dark age?
Never played all the monkey island, is it similar? (the old ones and telltale games.)
Hell, i'm not sure a game with the humour of sam and max could actually happen now, it would actually be considered either "too weird" or "controversial", some of the jokes were fucking good.
If I recall, Monkey Island had 10/10 humor, but to actually complete the game required a lot of weird bullshit you'd have to forcibly fuck around with till you got the right solution.
>Never played all the monkey island, is it similar? (the old ones and telltale games.)
Download remastered editions of the first two RIGHT NOW
As far as telltale goes their homestar games were also really good.
Hold up, Disney have the rights of Hit the road? Curious.
I wanted to come in this to say that I appreciate Scorbunny for inspiring some adorable crossover art.
They didnt just buy Star Wars.
Nice to see i wasn't the one making the connection lmao.
>giving Max pupils
I love that every sam and max stories, books, games or cartoon, are considered canon, they even explained in universe why does Sam and Max change their voice.
Are those games basically just poker simulators with voice lines from various characters or is there more to them?
more or less, but some of the conversations are god tier. you can also earn some TF2 items.
Poker night 2 was removed from the steam store sadly, poker night 1 still is here.
Love reading shit like this, thanks user.
Why did they remove Poker Night 2?
I had no idea it was gone now. Thankfully I already bought it years ago.
Nah, it's all fairly straightforward, there's some trial and error but it's built into the gameplay and provides a lot of good jokes when you try combining items for fun. People and "reviewers" who complain about this are just bad at logic and lateral thinking, LA games actually have some top-tier puzzles amongst all point & clickers, the only game I ever had to resort to a guide was actually The Longest Journey since it has so much backtracking trying to use a rubber ducky on everything could take two hours or more, Grim Fandango does have some screwy solutions but it's excused for being so exquisitely good.
>Why did they remove Poker Night 2?
The right of Venture bros expired. it's a shame telltale never did a venture bros game, they only wanted really popular franchise...and this caused their downfall.
>tfw grim fandango is more than 20 years old and no more unique adventure games existed since
what the fuck. The Sam and Max games were very good, but Grim Fandango is another level.
>Never ever
It is weird. I guess it's similar to what happened to RPGs and maybe stealth games, in the end they just became "ingredients" of game design to be incorporated into other games and sprinkled here and there.
>tfw the game was made by 80%
from what i've heard, a lot of elements of them were reused by telltale.
