I believe so myself
No. This is.
>Good presentation
>Lots of content (not necessarily quality content, just a lot of it).
>Some decent minigames
>Mediocre to bad everything else, including things like core mechanics
That is representative of level-5
I didn't care for it.
it's good, but dark cloud 1 was comfier and had better characters. wrench wielding cunt just ain't likable
>spend 30+ hours in golf hell just to get enough medals to buy an 2 piece leopard outfit for a 14 year old girl
What I did back then as a NEET I'll never forget.
worth it
>tfw want to love this game but the combat is ass
Based and redpilled
Cringe and bluepilled
yes
This and Dark Cloud. RG also have a spot in my heart for being about space adventures. Fuck the soulless shit that is ghost pokemon and DBZ football. Layton was pretty alright though.
That's much lewder than I remember. No wonder it was locked behind all those medals.
I liked the first one better for nostalgia reasons.
Did a minimum dungeon entry run with my brother which included the demon shaft.
yeah, one of my favorite games. They also did Dragon quest 8.
>6 party members
>only Toan and Ruby were useable
Meanwhile in the sequel
>2 party members
>give Max a laser gun and solo the game making Monica completely useless
Monica only floors were a nightmare
Interestingly enough, I never played the original, does it still holds up well?
first one was tighter.
I hated 2's overall presentation and world.
1 didn't feel like third rate anime.
yeah it's pretty great.
Sorta repetitive but a great experience overall.
Story and OST are better too.
alright, I'll check it out
hope you'll like it.
Goro shit damage out like a truck. It wasn't until this last playthrough that I took the BLOATPILL
Not really. Everything feels extremely bare-bones, especially if you've played the second game. I think it's at least worth checking out though.
so what prevents me from completely blocking every attack without cost?
>>only Toan and Ruby were useable
Absolute nonsense, xiao was usable as fuck, so was ungaga and fat flying cunt. The only one that was pretty much unusable was goro
I preferred 1 to 2. 1 had problems but it felt far more unique, and had a lot of mechanics that, had they been given the opportunity to polish in a real sequel, could have very we ll brought about a renaissance of dungeon crawlers
also NNK1 is a god damned masterpiece.
Osmond is the best
Between the melee characters, Goro was the best. His charge attack makes quick work of bosses. I couldn't believe how fast even the black Knight went down. Toan was decent. Never found a situation in which ungaga was valuable, ever.
Dark Cloud 1 literally didn't have characters
They get maybe two scenes and then they're benched for the rest of the game
Monica was the better of the two, though. Sword>Wrench
As a kid, I was fine with that because id autistically make up the story about what happened during the dungeons/towns in my head. Upon my more recent replays, I find it to be a very glaring flaw, especially considering most of your party members will be benched during gameplay too
I picked Monica because she was cuter.
Rogue Galaxy was my first foray into Dark Cloud like games and is one of my most favourite games ever, despite some bullshit
Played only the 2 first hours because it was littered with cutscenes
The fact that I will never get Rouge Galaxy 2 fills me with despair
I want to fuck Monica so much, do you have more?
how about trying again after taking some Prozac pills?
Dark Cloud is to Dark Cloud 2 as Timesplitters 2 is to Timesplitters: Future Perfect
I can't be the only one who fantasized about having sex with the maid in DC2
Dark Cloud 2 will always be among my favourites. The story isn’t anything to write home about, and the combat is stiff as fuck, but the game has a certain charm to it I can’t put my finger on.
That, and I’ll never forget getting scared shitless when I found my first Mimic
It's also one of the best games on the PS2. Level-5 were killing it back then
>tfw you'll never travel around with Monica and fall in love with each other
The bunny with the machine gun is so strong its not even funny. At the last dungeons I was basically holding fire while everything around him died.
>And then get abandoned forever when she goes back into the future.
Didn't she go back to the past regularly to see Max? It's been so long since I played it.
trash
She uses a Starglass to return to Max's time (the point in time most important to her). The Atlamillia are gone, so she's giving up her own time to live with him. It's honestly very sweet.
The OST is kino

Monica is such a great girl, top shelf wife material.
>Very sweet
The idea of not only leaving your friends and world behind, but also forgetting about your kingdom and the people counting on you to rebuild it sounds more unsettling than sweet.
Was this revealed later in the post-game?
It's maybe like 3-5 floors into the post-game dungeon, IIRC.
I played that when i was 14 and didn't know what the fuck was going on and dropped it. I hate JRPG
This game is fucking garbage. And so is Rogue Galaxy. Level 5 don't have anything resembling a magnum opus.
I dont know whats happened to Level-5 since the PS2 days. Their logo used to be a stamp of quality to me, but ever since White Knight Chronicles, its been all over the place.
>post-game dungeon
wait, WHAT? there was a post-game dungeon?
We're not told what exactly happens to her Kingdom, but the heroes' actions caused all the other cities in her time period to rebuild themselves, so I don't think she'd have to rebuild anything.
Crest stays dead, so I assume her father does, too, but honestly I'm not at all worried about a Kingdom lacking a monarch in the future where powerful clairvoyants and reality-bending scientists coexist.
At least they still have /ss/.
In Palm Brinks, the train tunnel by the lake is whole bonus dungeon
Yeah, the Zelmite Mines.
It's honestly kind of boring and way too long, with ridiculous damage sponge enemies, but it does wrap up a few plot points.
FUCK SPHEDA
>TFW you'll never use the Carpentarian to build a little house out in the countryside for you and Monica after your journey is over.
True.
No.
>15 years old
what the shit, time for a replay then
The game also had such a comfy OST:

It's a bad game, but I consider it my favorite game. Comfy music. I like the weapon tree and crafting. Spheda is broken in some levels, but it's fun to get the medals. Put 100's of hours into the game.
DC1 is fun too. Got stuck at the moon dungeon. Should finish it.
This is single handedlt the best song from those games
