Swadia can be fun because you have the best most balanced roster but everyone dog piles swadia so it's a huge challenge, it can also be very annoying because you might lose your starting fief right away and have no control over that.

Rhodoks is fun if you don't like mounted combat.

Vaegirs have a shitty roster and their troops are annoying as fuck to level up because they have weird progressions but this can also make them fun and they look cool.

Sarranids are very good but you will be a fucking raghead and their troops look stupid.

Nords and Khergits are gay boys.

Don't go Sarranid or Khergit first playthrough. Their bandits are insane and mounted, so they will fuck your shit up early on.

Nords have sea raiders who aren't as bad but can still fuck you up early game. They drop good loot tho.

Rhodok, Vaegir, and Swadia are easier starts.

Have right to rule so you don't get dogpiled. Once you become king you get a boost to party size, use that to take a few castles, then play defensively until you get enough Lords for a proper army, then snowball the rest of the map.

how do you have a decent income without being in a faction?

you can choose one faction, probably the rhodoks who you just completely style on and raid their villages. This does eventually tank your relationship with most lords as doing this without belonging to a faction is really dishonorable.

The "easiest" way is probably to hang out at rivacheg and fight sea raider bands for prisoners and loot as most sea raider equipment is quite expensive if you can find a masterwork/lordly version

You can make lots of money by winning tournaments after having bet on yourself each round, or raiding villages (I would advice against it, since reputation and relations are more difficult to grind back up than money is). Sea raiders also drop pretty valuable equipment.

Then you invest in business in cities (focus more on raw profit than cost-efficiency, that's better in the long term). That'll most likely be the bulk of your income even after you get some fiefs for taxes.

Rhodoks are the Chad faction, join them and dab on cucked G*rman and Fr*nch Swadia with your crossbows while their useless heavy cav can't get up the 2 degree incline.

I know about tournments but i never really got a good income even though i did the ironworks at curaw thing. I just didn't really consider the tourment because it doesn't appear in your monthly budget
