Doom 2016

Kudos to them for sticking with the game and actually updating it for free, but the game is still boring as shit.

It was either that or be blacklisted for life.

Damn. Big respect for him

>When you try your hardest to keep your promises to not be just another liar, but its not only too late, but now keeping your promises would be worst then actually moving on and trying to do better things for the community

Let me guess, Sean Murray is next going to declare a national emergency so he can take money from other developers to fund more free updates to No Man's Sky that will be treated like a big deal when actually they should have been in the game from the beginning?

Based and skypilled
Will buy their next game

FFXIV

He's actually gaining more sales ever since the last big update.

People are unironically buying the game now without the usual 50%+ discount.

Please explain how this gives back all the money early adopters were already scammed out of?

FFXIV.
But this ain’t bad, either.

How are they scammed? Aren't they getting the stuff they were promised? Did they suddenly not own the game anymore?

Doom 2016 was never bad, people just had low expectations after 3 and the lack of pre release footage and reviees

>redemption
Well, I don't know you, but I was going to get No Man's Sky when it came out but after everything that happened, that's just not going to be.

But you don't even know what the updates even contain yet?
Why are you such a hype drone?

Do they get back all the time they wasted playing it while it was incomplete?

>small indie bong team
>small budget
>still managed to outperform the pace of scam citizens updates and features.

How do they do it?

They got what they were promised in the end.

We MMO lite now.

Not focusing on autistic graphical detail

by having a game with 30x less features

No Man’s Sky Online includes a radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together. Whilst this brings people together like never before, and has many recognisable online elements, we don’t consider No Man’s Sky to be an MMO – it won’t require a subscription, won’t contain microtransactions, and will be free for all existing players.

Based Sean.

>release a garbage mess
>but it's okay because they fixed it months later
Shitty but I suppose new players will benefit

But you were talking about money, not time. I mean, under your scenario, I can complain about all the time wasted for any other game after the first 50+ hours or so when there is nothing else to do.

They already said it'll be three updates rolled together for free. The only revealed part is No Man's Sky: Online, which will have no subscription or microtransactions. Other two are a mystery.

I hope it focuses on space, because space is pretty barebones compared to the planetary side of the game.

Did they fixed the fucking leaking memory problem where the game would use all my fucking 8bg of ram until it choked at 0.0005fps?

If only the flying wasn't so arcade-y. That's what broke the deal for me.

Shitty as opposed to releasing all the fixes/missing stuff as paid DLC &/or sequel? I mean, this is the kind of stuff we should be commending here. Developers fixing their game for free.

I would love a space base building update or even just a way to customize our ships like a freighter. Hell, even more variety of space creatures will be amazing.

My issue with No Man's Sky was never that some guy lied about its features. I found it unappealing from the get-go because it's basically the open world meme on steroids.

>you can go anywhere! explore trillions of planets!
>but they're all procedurally generated and all involve doing the same boring grindy activities

Also not a fan of the presentation/themes/etc.

Yeah, hopefully all of this will be addressed. I enjoy the game for what it is, but the space side of things needs work.

There was a spaceship in the teaser, so I'm going to be optimistic that this will be a focus.

As cool as all this is and shit, I went back and tried playing and it's such a fucking slog to achieve anything in this dang game.
You gotta put in a massive time investment to get anything out of it because of the constant recharging of tech you gotta do, and if you got no materials for that tech it requires you to drop what you're doing and go mine for a while, god forbid if that material aint where you are at the time, then you gotta fucking go flying for ages and go get it at a station or some shit.
Don't get me started on if your ship is out of launch fuel too or something.
All this recharging eats up a large portion of your actual play time especially early on, you can aleivate it later on with bigger inventories and a bit of unit investment to future proof yourself but that's a ways off and is a tedious gind to have enough units in itself not to mention waiting for random chance to bless you with something like a worthwhile ship.
Definitely not a game you can just boot up for 5 minutes and feel like you actually got something done.

>I mean, under your scenario, I can complain about all the time wasted for any other game after the first 50+ hours or so when there is nothing else to do.

Yes? That's what many other video game players do? They typically sell off a game when they finish it.

This game is still as uninteresting as when it was announced
I guess if you like infinity games/walking sims then this is for you but the appeal of games like Sim City or tetris or just any game you can play on loop that doesn't have some sort of definite end is that the little things feel good, your core activity, feels good, this just feels like a boring space walking sim
Also lets not praise features that should have been there at launch

you could write a fuckin book on what Star Citizen did wrong. and I hope someone inside does write that book because it's possibly one of the biggest clusterfucks in the history of modern entertainment

>after 3
BFG was GOAT faggot. Get the fuck out

So you sold your copy away then? Because that's the only scenario when you could had lost money on the game.

Master Chief Collection
Final Fantasy XIV

At least NMS exists

Vanilla FF14 to A Realm Reborn.

I get your arguments. But for me, NMS is a game you boot up if you want to chill and listen to a podcast for an hour or two. It's slow and tedius, but at the same time pretty relaxing and kino.

NMS is fundamentally broken. The core gameplay loop is just boring, doesn't matter how much they add to the game.

>Buy car
>Comes in without engine
>3 years later the dealership tells you he will install an engine

It's still a fucking scam. They straight up lied about what was going to be included in the game at release. I hope they all end up homeless and I didn't even buy this piece of shit.

Fuck this "games as a service" bullshit. If I buy a game I don't want to be buying the promise of a good game later some time down the line, I want what you promised me I'd get at launch

if you can't simulate a city you shouldn't try to simulate space

>sean was a good guy all along
I did it before but it bears repeating: I apologize.

It's a bigger scam to promise a full game and never deliver it than to promise a full game that ends up coming out late. So I guess the moral of the story is that the No Man Sky dev worked real hard to become half a scammer instead of a full scammer. Kudos for not taking the money and running away I guess.

ARR, easily
Especially if you factor in Heavenskino

They got what the fuck was coming to them. There was enough cautious skepticism across the whole gaming community surrounding the game that anyone on the hype train that wasn't literally fucking retarded had enough disbelief that they didn't pre-order.

Don't act like this is some new trend, games time and time again have failed to deliver over and over in many different capacities. Frankly the smear campaign against NuMalesSky grew rapidly to excess and much of it was taken far out of context. Stop being a mindless babbling faggot and go get fucked.

Doom 2016 is absolute shit. It is precisely nothing more than generic garbage with a bunch of retarded shit frosted on top for some nonsensical bullshit that ruined the pace of the game for the first playthrough. The gameplay itself is so piss easy it doesn't merit a second playthrough,

They had ample opportunities to claim refunds

What game had actually delivered everything that was promised at launch?

/Thread

>procedurely generated
We knew this right from the start, the real problem lies in the shit gameplay which would down to being a terrible Minecraft clone.

I mean, it basically does Freelancer now, but with planetary resource harvesting. There's also bounties and shit. You can play space trucker or miner, miner, whatever. You just can't build a supermassive frigate and customize all the weapons on it.

Anything by Capcom. Including Capcom itself.

Release R6S to last year R6S but they fucked it up again now

Even Street Fighter?

Better than The Witness.

Nobody wanted a space minecraft. What the trailer promised was more like skyrim but the exploring and """questing""" sucks and that's a fundamental flaw of that game that can't be fixed unless they pulled an ARR.

What the fuck are you saying? Skyrim was questing and to a lesser extent looting and enchanting at late game. Ultimately the only thing NMS is missing from that formula is NPC interactions which were more or less added in the main story which was implemented early last year iirc.

Of course it's not littered with a fuckload of curated environments, the whole principal of the game was scale, and you simply cannot create manually placed assets at that scale without tiling (meaning a far greater degree of repetition). You have to create your exploration experience, that's all.

Insofar as the trailer is concerned, this is a company of literally 5 people which are developers, not marketing or business majors. It's no surprise that they didn't plaster that with a disclaimer "this is an alpha build of the game, it is not a representation of the end product"

And I wanted a freelancer clone, and guess what I have now. A $20 freelancer clone because I wasn't retarded enough to buy on release because I paid attention to the historical implementations of ProcGen in gaming like the rest of the non-retards.

Guess its time to buy it. I was always interested in it.

>Bro just wait 1 to 3 years the game will be good by then

Ff14

Er sure you got what you want but by judging the replies here I don't think it's what most people envisioned they were gonna get when they watched the trailer. All these mining, base building and multiplayer additions seems to me like the devs discarding their original vision for the game and building on what they had working so far. The real problem with nms is not the marketing or whatever but the devs incapability to flesh out their vision for the game

>game gets good 3 years in bro. Just keep playing.

>getting the stuff they were promised?
i dont think you understand the scope of the things that were missing from the game. the most basic things like having planets that orbit a sun are still not in the game and would require much of the game to be rebuilt. he lied about the game down to its most fundamental levels. this game will never ever be what he sold it to be and there's nothing he can do about besides make a no mans sky 2 that's on a new engine.

So is it good now? Should I buy it?

>Kudos to them for sticking with the game and actually updating it for free
>for free
people paid for all those updates, because the piece of shit was not worth the asking price, and still is not.

this is exactly like people paying a monthly fee for EA access or the like and then being amazed by getting games "for free".

No and no.
