The resources spent on assist trophies would be better spent anywhere else. The effort to payoff ratio on these shitty items is insane. They're a complete waste of Sakurai's time with their current implementation.

This. Part of what made AC great during the pre-NL days was that there wasn't really a defacto mascot. Nook was the most iconic and recognizable character, but he was never shoved in your face. K.K. was prominent in advertising and such, but it never went beyond that. Resetti was also iconic but he's the last character anyone would pick to represent AC. Sable was a fan favorite but never got any decent merch.

Meanwhile Isabelle has been forced and shilled since NL's release. This isn't a case of "oh she just happened to get really popular", they WANTED this to happen. She's featured on the game's 3DS menu diorama and takes Rover's role in CF as the greeter so you can be sure you'll see her every time you play, even if you never go to town hall. Literally no AC character before Isabelle has ever been given this much priority.

I probably wouldn't despise Isabelle anywhere as near as much as I do if she just kept to her role instead of being forced on everyone as the mascot. Her Smash secondaries certainly aren't helping my views on her either.

Makes sense, AT would be better in their own mode, something like
"Assist Battle" where you can choose from the many ATs, either 2 or 3 and during battle you summon them a determined amount of times or have an energy bar for summons, or even a timer. Make their use more streamlined (does one attack, buffs you, AOE, debuffs foe, etc) and bam, fun side mode.

You are completely correct in that AT suck dick and most people disagreeing have shown so fa no actual arguments.

Not really, i just agree with the lad, but i guess if any two people disagree with at the same time they must be the same person.

Assists were made right on Marvel2 and Pokken and that other anime fighter i forgot the name, you choose the guy you want to use, and if this is a consolation prize for people who like whatever literal who character that got ATd, then at least let the poor sods use them in a consistent manner, like i said, a side mode, like better spirits if you want a smash comparison. As it is most people play with items off and if you do play with them on, the guy is behind a wall rng and can be used against you.
