I don't know of a best, I use 3 of them.
1) Gamasutra, they post stuff that nobody else post, some technical but also insightful stuff about the industry.

2) RPS, unfortunately Yea Forums is terribly mainstream nowadays in terms of what is discussed, there are many small games that I could only find covered in RPS.
3) Slowtaku, they have a lot of trash, but since they post about anything is like a MC Donald buffet where you can find almost everything even if poorly done, but they also get a good amount of exclusive interviews.
Of course one day I will probably die of an aneurysm between the last two, like RPS giving a pass on EPIC for spying and Kotaku being part of the journalist drones when it comes to certain stories like THQ on infinity chan.

Oh, that's probably the main benefit for most people. If you have a range ban, a pass allows you to get around it and still post. My phone's rangebanned from posting pictures, for instance, but I still can with a pass. A lot of college campuses are range banned, as are most vpns though those are actually against the rules.

A pass works better if you can get yourself a static IP that never changes. My router has a built-in OpenVPN server so I can post from anywhere in the world as if I was at home. You can only authenticate a pass once every 30 minutes so if your phone loses signal you're fucked. With my setup the IP my phone gets doesn't matter as everything goes through my static IP at home.
