I went ahead and did the shit with the fire truck but wanted to put off the others for a bit cause I ended up with a shit ton of money and I didn't want to be too loaded the entire game. Then I tried the abulance after the triad was angry and had trouble so I put it off in hopes of getting to a place where people weren't mad at me. Going in blind was a mistake, it seems.

Always do the side missions in Portland prior to Sayonara Salvatore.
It's smallest in size, meaning all the blips will be neatly and tightly clustered. Think Fuzz Ball.

This is error. You will get instakilled in portland by the mafia because a lot of times (on the hill especially) multiple shotgun mooks with instant aggro and auto-aim spawn and it takes 2-3 shotgun shells to instasplode many of the games vehicles.
