Honestly, Terranigma gets worse as it goes on. The first half of the game is really fun when you're saving all of the animals, but once the humans show up it gets really boring.

This game is the Chrono Trigger of the 2010s. Prove me wrong.

This game was so far ahead of its time its crazy.

And I've yet to encounter a game that does the death/rebirth cycle theme better. And so much shit went over my head when playing as a kid, especially in the second half of the game when it tackles shit like communism and development.

Abyss is better.

Vesperia has horrible pacing, a boring story, and the number of times characters leave and rejoin the party pisses me off. Also hated being forced to talk to every party member everytime you visit a new time.
Yuri is based though.

Some of these are straight-up not JRPGs, but I love them all. I kinda just threw up some games I enjoyed.

Never played Terranigma before. Maybe I should stream a playthrough of it on my SNES classic sometime.
I want to do an RPG I've not played before and everyone and their grandma always goes for Earthbound or Actraiser. (And I mostly beat Actraiser before. I accidentally deleted my save at the final boss)

Call this an unpopular opinion but I personally had a blast with Graces F.
Asbel is cheesy as fuck as far as protagonists go but by the end of the game you really do root for him since he's just so fucking nice. Like what he's doing makes not a whole lot of logical sense but somehow you think his plan is going to work because its Asbel doing it.
