Should I get Bravely Default or Octopath Traveler?
Which is more like the old FF games? Which is more fun?

Bravely is a lot better

both have lackluster stories but bravely has a better battle system

Octopath is more like Live A Live/Romancing Saga for combat but the visuals and stories play out more like SNES FF games as if you were completing each character's own side stories.

Bravely is more like FFV with the multitude of class comps you can build your characters with while also retaining story elements of classic FF in which heroes band together to stop a great threat.

Bravely Default is almost literally Final Fantasy. And in early stages of its development it was a sequel to Final Fantasy The 4 Heroes of Light. And you'll find plenty of classic jobs and skills, not to mention mechanics. Not things similar to it but with other names, but literally the same skills with the same names.

Octopath Traveler isn't that. It's not Final Fantasy, though it is still amazing in its own right and a splendid game.
No matter what game you go for I'd still suggest you check out the other if you liked the one you played.
Do check out Octopath's demo though before checking out either, it's a great demo and you can even keep your save file if moving from the demo to the full game.
