Try it, the gameplay is pretty good, standard SMT stuff. Tha rates are shit, but you can get a lot of demons through fusion/negotiation.

You see Dante before the conception, but there is no designated time frame from which we know you see him and when the conception happens in the day.
In DMC5 the entire events of the game traveling up thousands of miles of root and other shit happens in like 8 hours, so you seeing Dante before he gets to Dumary Island and then does the whole adventure before getting stuck in hell, and therefore the conception.
Freedom ending seems most likely, especially given the tie ins of SMT4:A. But Dante being in Demifiend's party remembers it all and now has a new lease on life and isn't stuck in hell.

I was holding out for an SMT I/II protag. Kinda bullshit they pick the SMT spinoff's flavor of the month protagonist to shill for Atlus' spinoff of the spinoff's games like P5D and whatever P5R will be.

They are, it was advertised a lot as "from the writer of original Persona", and people went in expecting Persona 3-5 instead.
