Has anything else surfaced about the Harry Potter RPG that got leaked? What are you hoping to see out of a rpg set in the wizard universe?

I just want to play as a cute girl
Yeah it was originally going to be a console and PC game but the success of the mobile game has caused them to focus all their energy on making follow ups and expanding on a formula that is working well for them.
Funny you say that. Just checked my email and saw an ad for "Harry Potter: Wizards Unite".
Here's the shit it linked to.
harrypotterwizardsunite.com
no Flipendo no buy
That's just some mobile game.
I hope to see it be good, but I doubt it because I haven't seen one good thing come out of Harry Potter since the release of the 7th book. The IP has been dead to me for anything that came after.
I don't think playing magic lessons and doing magic homework would be very fun, I don't see the gameplay loop for this kinda game. What are you supposed to do in this game? Move your analog stick in a circle to make things fly? Answer multiple-choice questions on history of magic? I don't see it. I don't see a fun game in this concept, and just roaming through an open Hogwarts "exploring" and finding chocolate frog cards sounds hollow after the scourge of open-world titles this gen.
I think it'll be cancelled. Who's the publisher?
Undoubtedly WB, since they're the ones who own the rights to the entire HP franchise, aren't they?
Pretty sure EA published a lot of Harry Potter videogames, namely the mainline movie adaptations.
its wb
it will be bamham reskin #710439 except you use spells instead of hand to hand combat
press x to stupify
press y to counter spell
press b for acrobatics
press a to spin around in close quarters and stun people with your robe
i gurantee they'll asspull some potion that gives you detective vision for the entire game.
wb,they own the rights nowadays
You realize that Rocksteady is not developing this game, right?
Everything about it is way too good to be true
>deep customization to the point of choosing your house
>no Harry Potter milking, set during WW1
>actual open world RPG with quests, NPC and the whole shabang
The problem here is the developer of the game.
It's Avalanche Software. No, not even the Just Cause guys, but the dudes making shitty licensed disney games. If it's to be their breakout hit I have nothing against it but I really wouldn't anticipate it too hard.
>want to be excited for it
>know that WB will ruin it like they do everything else
Worst feel. I've wanted a HP RPG for years now but I know it'll never be done justice given how shit western games face become over the years
disney infinity was pretty good as far as toys to life games went. Also double helix were known for shitty games before making xbone killer instinct, so i have faith
They didn't develop Mad Max and Shadow of War/Mordor either. It's impossible for unique games to be released under WB. And because it's WB, you just know it'll be heavily monetised like all their other games
I really hope it’s not canceled. I’d really like a good open world HP game
I assume it won't be restricted to just wandering the corridors of hogwarts. The place is littered with secrets and history, even Dumbledore wasn't sure how the room of requirement worked until it was too late. So straight away there's the possibility of exploring and finding secret areas that may further questlines or introduce new ones altogether. Perhaps you find the entrance to the chamber of secrets, you don't actually have to talk parsel tongue, just imitating it is enough as Ron does in the final book. Then based on what house you choose (anything but slytherin) you'd get a questline to seal it or learn more and try prevent it from ever being opened again. If you're slytherin perhaps you're full on evil and want to cause carnage and awaken the basilisk for a killing spree. Wasn't it planned to be set in the 19th century? There's a lot you could do with that.
You're also forgetting the forbidden forest, hogsmeade etc. If done right it could be a fun game. I would definitely play an evil run through.
>choosing your house
Why would they do this? It should be assigned to you based on a questionnaire or something
>If you're slytherin perhaps you're full on evil and want to cause carnage and awaken the basilisk for a killing spree
Yeah like that is ever going to be in a HP game.
Will they ever surpass Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for the GBC?
It was in the books? And then the films too? For the sake of pleasing everybody it could just be children getting "petrified". Christ some of you are killjoys.
I think you meant GameCube
I played the first GBC game, is CoS better?
Does anyone even care about a Harry Potter game outside of Reddit?
>a better bully with magic and hot teenage witches
Tell me you don't care you faggot
>thing that predates reddit is reddit
I don't care
>does anyone care about a millennial cash cow that is still bringing truck loads of money ?
Sure hope there will be a take a shit anywhere mechanic, otherwise flop confirmed.
>Outside of Reddit
I know a lot of people care, but I find weird that people here would care about something like that
Funny thing, never played the first GBC game only the second so I don't know, the things I can say I really like about CoS are the wide enemy variety and good amount of bosses the game was able to include both from the book and also as original entities, the minigames were surprisingly good for a GBC Game, it honestly feels like between Gnome Tossing, Quidditch, Headless Bowling & the Dueling the game was packed to the brim with content. Combat is not overly complex although it does have variety between the major spells, minor spells and character-specific techniques.
My only gripe I have with the game and it's hardly the game's fault is that you don't really spend much time being able to train up any character other than Harry, the other characters due to story reasons are unavailable for too much of the story I think, Ron has a good amount but Hermione and Lockheart were really lacking for battles to be useful in.
???
Explain
You know, son, just because you're not a fan of something, doesn't mean it's Reddit. For example, you're probably not a fan of vagina if your comment is anything to go by. Does this mean vagina is Reddit? Fuck no, we are all aware of the fact that Reddit is a hive of astronomical faggotry. So, here's what we've got so far; you don't like vagina, and Reddit doesn't like vagina. Meaning? Well it turns out that all along, you were Reddit. Faggot.
as one who had to play the toys to life games, disney infinity was easily the worst
>Hating a world where there's fucking invisible cloaks and magic to stalk and rape hot teen girls
Shit taste.
Insider here. That trailer that was leaked (probably by one of our interns who were hp fans) was all pre rendered. It was made for WB to see if they would green light it. Sadly they didn't due to the fact that we wanted to make it semi open world with mmo elements.
If you want to ask any questions I have 30 minutes to spare.
>Obliviate
Is that Merula?
There is no way they’d let you do that. It’s not being a killjoy, it’s not being a delusional moron
>Ovulate
How do you even make an open world game set in Hogwarts? The place is just a castle, a forest and some space between them. As big as a small town at most.
They probably wont do that, because normies want to play with lion (chaotic good) or snake (chaotic evil) house.
Fun fact is that both house are noble houses and have their good motivations for their opinions and deeds.
so its dead?
Actual insider here and you're wrong but not totally. As another user has said it was its own thing, however the mobile game success changed that; some elements from it will be used in the future mobile games and that's about it.
More that Rowling's been on an SJW crusade of making her book no longer cartoony, That's why you ended up with good goy Slughorn, Punished Draco, and Solid Snape, as well as her just going "oh did you know Merlin was in Slytherin, and he was the most pro-coexist with muggles wizard there ever was?" So to that end I can see her throwing a monkey wrench in anything that would let anyone be outright cartoonishly evil.
I was shocked when I heard that shitty Hogwarts Mystery mobileshit made $111mil in less than a year. This is why we don't get good games anymore when you can P2W your ps2 graphic mobile garbage and soccer moms eat it up.
Yes.
Huge castle completely explorable
>Sections like chamber of secrets would be dungeons
>Travel to different parts of hp lore
>There would be classes at specific times to learn spells
>Events to learn special spells
>Leveling would be done by class time and jobs
>Everyone starts at Y1L1 ends at Y8L80
>Spells would be cast using thumbstick gestures or mouse gestures
>Could only equip a few spells at a time
There's probably more I'm forgetting it's been a while.
that game became next level when you learned you could fly around the castle and land on the towers
>Obfuscate
Mobile games were never good. You should know this by now considering that one of the biggest money grabbing mobile games is literally just lootboxing for jpegs.
It wouldn't be a forced aspect of gameplay user, even if you were in slytherin you could choose to ignore it/seal it. However you could have the option of awakening it to petrify some children, if not kill them, but only if you were a slytherin. It's not delusional if it's in the books that the chamber had been opened before and that's exactly what happened you drippy piece of cuntflesh. If kids can handle reading about it, and they can handle seeing it in a film, then what's the problem with having it featured in a video game where a large portion of the players will be adults who grew up with the books and films? I'm not talking a snake mauling young children on screen, it could happen off screen where children get petrified or whatever.
Tell you what mate if it was real I'd send the cunting snake right up your clam and pull your intestines out through it you boring faggot.
>What are you hoping to see out of a rpg set in the wizard universe?
I don't know much about Harry Potter but considering they're wizards, surely they have a hypnotism spell right? If so, I would hypnotize a girl and have sex with her.
GameCube version? I fucking loved this game. Order of the Phoenix on the wii was also fun.
Someone tweet JK and ask her why we can't have a good Harry Potter game
I really hope no one in Yea Forums chooses Hufflepoofs
Honestly wouldn't be too bothered by it in this case as some of the people attached didnt really seem confident in their own ideas. I think if you want a Harry Potter rpg to work you need to rope in actual fans to work on it.
The game's set in the 1800 aka the 19th century, Corvinus Gaunt, the expansion of Hogwarts' plumbing system and the first opening of the chamber of secrets was in the 18th century, aka the 1700s. Considering that Corvinus Gaunt, Tom Riddle, Harry Potter, and Ron Weasley were the only ones other than Salazar to have opened the chamber of secrets, your idea doesn't really fit in.
no Merula no buy
>Hufflepuff will rise
Literally the wrong way round.
The Unforgivables
I played both and the second one is the best evolution of that formula it could possibly be for that time in my opinion
>ywn have a game where you roam hogwarts taking classes, befriending/interacting with npcs, sneak around, explore everything, collect stuff and is then released into the world where your school choices reflects your wizarding life
They have to base the game around some stupid story instead of making the game as open-ended and fun as possible, don't they?
>18th Century Britain
>Poo in the Loo
>Kangz
>DING DONG BAN R U
No thanks
>1800s is the 18th century
Hard time understanding words eh?
The leaked footage literally showed the protagonist committing good old goblocaust, as per the franchise's tradition.
fpbp as always
i don't see a trailer or anything
warner bros created a new publishing studio in 2017 for new harry potter games
>tfw no potter fangirl gf
There's only one, soon to be two games under Portkey's belt. Both of them are mobile games. For all we know it could go to Portkey or it could be published directly by WB Interactive.
bruh, look at this hand
It's an rpg where you can probably become an all powerful wizard/witch. I highly doubt that's canon. You pedantic anti-fun piece of shit.
I wouldn't be surprised if it got cancelled because Rowling hates video games or is being repurposed into a fortnite clone. That or it never existed in the first place.
>Has anything else surfaced about the Harry Potter RPG that got leaked?
>"No!"
You can't get all mopey about canon when you're the one that brought up "but da chambur wus opened b4".
I mean if you really wanna throw canon out the window then why does being a dark wizard/witch have to be solely slytherin? Since it's non-canon why can't you be a horrible hufflepuff? A revolting ravenclaw? Maybe even a genocidal gryffindor.
That sounds awesome though
ftfy
>expecting me to play a Harry Potter game without Merula
No
>gurantee they'll asspull some potion that gives you detective vision for the entire game.
Instead of detective vision you just down some felix felicis and "luck" tells you that an object or area is the clue you need to progress.
Ron gets NTR'd by Ivan Mason.
>just roaming through an open Hogwarts "exploring"
Man that's reminding me of a Minecraft server that popped up a few years ago where a guy had built the entirety of Hogwarts, it was really fucking impressive, I remember going on that server with a friend and spending hours on end trying to explore Hogwarts and get the lay of the land, it was just gigantic.
Why would you give a crap about this gay shit when the best Harry Potter game has already been released?
And what game is that user?
wake me up me when Luna and Cho's routes have been finished and Tonks gets some actual content
Akabur's Witch Trainer you uneducated fag
I can leak something about this
It's basically a wizard version of Dark Souls gameplay. Imagine if instead of traditional weapons with r1 and r2 etc it was all spells and you could do crazy combos with them, magic force dodge and shit
>If you're slytherin perhaps you're full on evil
not everyone in slytherin is full on evil
who cares, can you fuck cute witches?
I myself as much as anyone love a good RPG, but no I haven't heard anything about the new Harry Potter RPG. Though I'm not sure why anyone would make an rpg out of the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises? Seriously each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody? Just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
a-at least the books were good though
"No!" The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.
>keeps blaming white genocide on other races and jews
>I just want to play as a cute girl
it's a great time to be alive folks
gay pic tbqh
That's what Witch Trainer and Sims 4 is for.
>Sims 4
I'm listening, user
>access to the three unforgivable curses
>let me go full slytherin edgelord
Thats it
What is there to listen to? There's a shit ton of Harry Potter mods and sims made for it, alongside even fucking Hogwarts castles for you to download and play in, provided you could actually handle it cause holy shit do those damn things lag like a mother fucker.
