Is it the best Resident Evil?
Is it the best Resident Evil?
yes, any other answer is nostalgia
REmake still reigns supreme
Indeed
Was it a mistake for my first run to be on hardcore?
...for me to poop on
You'll handle it.
It's heavily flawed. Level design was good though.
No, Hardcore is the only correct way to play and it's still pretty easy.
No, just as long as you make sure to cycle through like 5 saves in case you need to go back.
I activated the tunnel with the 3 medallions and unwittingly entered the first William Birkin fight before I explored half of the police station. I had to revert to an earlier save because I didn't even have the shotgun yet (as Leon).
That would've been fine, you get to go back to the RPD anwyay
tied with remake 1
no
While the police station is some of the most fun I've had in a game I think RE4 was a better overall experience
Overall? I'd say sure...
>when you flush the toilet and the water starts to rise.
No, I did that too als then went standard for subsequent playthroughs and laughed how pisseasy the game was below HC.
I'm horrible at games and I had no problems with hardcore. Did use mouse aim though.
Some boss fights did require learning attack patterns, like if you need to dodge to the side, forward, or back.
One tip though, if you do a section of game poorly(miss many shots and take lots damage), and yet still survive... You might want to reload and try again. I found doing like the 1st floor RPD east side -> wire cutters -> valve -> to component a few times until I used no bullets and took no damage gave me a ton more ammo to use later on.
Apart from 1, 7 is the best Resident Evil. It's basically a retelling of the first in a first person perspective, as it was originally imagined. It sure has downsides but it is pure Resident Evil. 2 and 3 are a derivation in the same sense as 4, they strated away from the earliest concepts and did their own thing.
Yes, because you can't get the achievement for finding all 4 inventory bags
>4(four) bags
And people were bitching about the game being hard?
RE4 is still the better experience but RE2 Remake is the best purely survival horror, classic RE-style game
There's actually six. Three on hardcore.
>RE4 is still the better experience
Goddamn does RE2make do AMMO so WELL.
Early game, first playthrough before you know codes/map, the ammo balance is perfect. I cannot remember the last game where I was searching every nook for ammo, where every missed shot felt terrible, and that you were literally risking death to line up a slightly better shot.
RE7 before you fight chainsaw Jack also had that, or maybe I just sucked.
RE6 is better than nuRE2
worst taste ive ever seen
>RE6 is better than nuRE2
...
ahem
Goblina a shit. Helena >>>>>>>>> goblina
dont even joke about that
I think it is yes. Resi 4 is great but I'm enjoying this more.
why do brainlets hate 5?
No clue. It's about equal to 4 in the fun factor.
wesker is too alpha for them
I don't understand why people regard this as good.
>at least 3 times you have to do MASSIVE backtracks
>can't skip doors
>absolute shite voice acting
Pretty much the exact opposite. I feel sorry for people who played it on standard first go. A lot of the tension in hardcore was because you never knew what was gonna come next.
Do you use the ink ribbon now? The next section might be easy or have no enemies. It might be a boss fight. Who knows. A lot of the time I wasted ink ribbons as I had no idea when to use them best.
Do a lot of busywork, no real difficulty, just time spent, but do you risk going through next section without saving? You might have to do it all again. Might not. Stuff like this
People who played in standard will go through on hardcore again and know exactly when to save and what comes next. It ruins the first run you have, which is actually the best experience you will have as you're completely clueless.
It's a remake you zoomer tard, people knew what was coming.
>not playing on hardcore
i used this as a guide. it worked out better for me in most parts
youtube.com
>obviously hasn't played OG 2
>calls others zoomer
Is this bait or are you retarded?
It has about the same amount of unskippable door animations, shit voice acting and backtracking that REmake does and everyone loves that.
remake 2 is the hardest RE game
Sherry a cute.
>Being a tryhard
go to bed Claire
no
Really not true, though. REmake one doesn't have you run up to the highest point of a residence and then backtrack back to the lowest point of the startong area. Backtracking in REmake also isn't as heavy handed because you run around the rather small mansion 80% of the time.
The worst thing in REmake would be getting the crank at the cabin. You run up their only to get that, then run straight back. But it's at least the forst time you run their. Having to backtrack to the already finished prison for the lockpick and then again for the piano roll is a bore.
>shit voice acting
>rubbing the back of her head
Fucking hell Claire that's like third or fourth date tier.
I've played RE2 I haven't played the remake. If it deviates that much then it's a shit remake
>any RE
>good
Can we please stop pretending this dumpster fire of a series is good? Shit controls and laughably bad gameplay should be shamed, not celebrated.
I prefer REmake 1, but it's pretty great!
Why do you think The Thing and The Fly are shit movies?
Jill is too submissive to pull off the pathetic meme.
>beautifully detailed, atmospheric ambient sound design, particularly in the police station, that immerses you into the world
>"duuhhh why there no overbearing music blaring 100% of the game?!?!?"
>Jill is too submissive
There are other difficulties then hardcore?
Search your feelings.
That is not the problem. There is no fucking way to beat Birkin on HC without the shotgun.
This.
god Claires face looks like shit. What were they doing, its not like the model was bad looking.
the bullying stops now
She looks okay here I guess, though kind of fat around the face.
Rebecca sucks and is irrelevant lmao
source?
I literally only used two knives and a couple flash grenades to beat him on HC, and I did it on console without the knife exploit.
This. I'm glad she dies in RE1.
7 was trash.
thats not canon
What was the last game she appeared in?
It literally happens in Resident Evil 1. How is it not canon?
Based. I still want to lick her tummy.
RE5 but in a Mercenaries mode.
>>fail
its a fail state
>Mercenaries mode.

Nobody is going to take their first time through and try to knife Birkin, plus you would have to basically use no defensive items the whole game. While it is possible, it is not likely one will have the equipment without a lot of planning and prior knowledge. I doubt I'd even have an easy time beating him like that and I've played through all 4 campaigns on both difficulties.
What about her pits?
It's a fail state for a side mission, like just not picking up Jill on your way out of the mansion.
>that lazy ass photoshop job
Fucking seriously Capcom?
Knifing him is only marginally harder than knifing lickers if you have a couple knives and some flash bangs.
No friends to play it with
If you've saved just before there is no reason not to knife Birkin.
I wouldn't do it on my first playthrough though, you're right.
What are the optimal save points and times for a hardcore S+ run?
Despite 4 prior plays I keep fucking up with the third and final medallion piece (before it was because I didn't get the detonator and got mauled trying to get it, just now when I got the piece I sperged out because I lost my infinite knife to a zombie, and while trying to get it out got fucked by the licker who clipped me the second I looked at the zombie and I WAS FUCKING WALKING AWAY from the damn thing).
I keep fucking up in places and I'm too used to saving repeatedly to compensate, so I'm hoping for someone to give me a yardstick so I can ha ve a goal to get better towards
It's fucking great but 4 is still my personal favorite
This is a clear 2nd though
As long as there's more Jill, I'm happy.
I fucked up and forgot one of the guns on leons pt
Still managed tho and once you get the map memorized the game becomes a piece of cake
Nope, that would be REmake.
My saves for Leon B hardcore S+ were after the first boss when you need to get the electrical parts, the first time you get to the sewer room with the chess pieces, and the reception area in the lab before I got the level 2 bracelet. You really just have to be mindful of your routing for the beginning of the game.
Also if you do die and have to reload, hit continue first THEN load your save. Otherwise the timer keeps running for some fucking reason.
I saved just before Birkin 1, so I could knife him. Then just before the G Adults in the sewer, then just before Birkin 3.
Huh, I was doing claire A because her weapons have an easier time getting off the ground, that and I'm a grenade launcher fag
>Also if you do die and have to reload, hit continue first THEN load your save. Otherwise the timer keeps running for some fucking reason.
When I was doing my claire B standard S rank run I was just going straight to load and not hit continue at all and my timer was fine
Before Birkin, in the sewers either before or after the king and queen piece (depending how comfortable you are with that stretch) and before the last boss rush. Total time should be about 2 hours.
To each their own, but I loved the shotgun for crowning zombies quickly, so I would recommend Leon.
Plus you get to look at Ada's bum!
>tfw got a bit too used to RE4
>tfw went into REmake 2 treating it like 4 in the first run
>fuck up bad enough had to restart before i even got the 3rd medallion
>tfw 2nd run fucked up at the sewers bad enough with the G- adults, was forced to restart again
>tfw all this was on Standard
at least 3rd time's the charm
but yeah, you did gud user
>before birkin 1
Reasonable, considering the knife is optimal on him but easy to get ruined
>Just before the G adults
that's very tempting I must admit, I might attempt to go a step further knowing even with a fucking guide I end up retarded with the chess puzzle, that and grenade launcher to their faces seemed to be a good idea even with how minimal the ammo is
>before birkin 3
this I can agree with, my question is any times to aim for?
Sounds good, tell me any idea how long I should aim for with the medallions, my last attempt I had 27mins before that licker fucked me up, I was also clearing zombies in the dark room corridor because I spend alot of time there
During my Leon A standard for some reason the headshot wasn't assured until I was in lunge range, I don't get why but the times I needed it to work it didn't work as hoped
>Plus you get to look at Ada's bum!
but the camera doesn't get up that skirt well enough to see anything sadly
I haven't done claire yet but I imagine it's mostly the same. Anything the shotgun can do her grenade launcher can too. Honestly your grenade launcher/shotty is you're bug out weapon for when you made a mistake or get put into a seriously sticky situation. Otherwise you can use the pistols to get past every obstacle with enough planning. Use the infinite knife for bosses. Unfortunately I don't know how to help you with Claire's final boss. My advice would be to look up a speedrunner and see what they do to beat it and use it as a guide.
pic related
That was the plan but during standard I stock piled on rounds for the sewers and labs (for g's and ivy's), with leon though ended up burning out the shotgun and most of my magnum rounds before the tyrant, I find dog birkin more tolerable than the tyrant since the stage is set
I guess when I try again I need to be more willing to use the grenade/shotgun more before all medallions if I'm gonna salvage anything
I aimed to get to the first save at about 20 minutes, that's the only target time I can remember. You'll know if you're fucking about too much.
god i wish that was me
>20mins first save
Woah shit, I better get my shit together, I swear though that dark room corridor ruins me, 4 of the fuckers crowding around and waiting for that fedora wearing fuck to just piss off was fucking bullshit, wasn't until I cleared them out via knife-door-knife-door then hoping he wouldn't march over randomly
This was my first RE game but I still prefer REmake 2. Both phenomenal games, but not having fixed cameras sets it above. And then there's also Mr. X. But I'll never forget Lisa.
Lisa deserved better.
Leon's final boss is SUPER easy. At the start of the fight just go up and knife the shit out of him. If you have a good enough frames per second and aim it right you'll stun lock him 3 or so times and then you just have to wait like 30 seconds for the rocket launcher.
And for the sewers? Getting past the sewer G's requires a few pistol shots. You don't ever need to use your shotgun or magnum. Shit when I did Leon B I didn't even grab the magnum.
no but it's better than REmake, 2 and 4 for sure
Well, I would crown the two zombies in that hall and board up the window by the bottom of the stairs near the dark room. Then your only zombies left should be on the stairs. That's really an area you want to clear, and you can kill the zombies one at a time if you do it right, so you won't get overwhelmed.
>is this the best resident evil?
Maybe but that question is basically asking who won the special olympics
I usually leave the RPD in 20 minutes on an A run.
Resident Evil is a pillar of vidya.
you might as well say 6 was good while you're at it, fucking retard
Yes and it is very silly. Still fun, though and that's what matters.
6 is a good and fun game. It's gameplay is super solid.
>If you have a good enough frames per second and aim it right you'll stun lock him 3 or so
HOL UP im a console fag, I can understand knifing lickers and birkin 1 but the tyrant, I had a hard time trying to get a knife in birkin 2 (believe me though I'd do that fps exploit if I could)
>And for the sewers? Getting past the sewer G's requires a few pistol shots
I heard about that tip, but this keeps happening during my 2 prior standard runs
>run up to first
>point blank
>pistol
>the rise knocks me
>even if it doesn't knock me it would clock me despite running to the left before the grab animation plays
>always takes 2 defense items before I can sprint past the other 2
What the fuck am I doing wrong, the initial G (the one serving as the tutorial) would let me past, but that first one in that G room physically blocks me, I can assume the information is correct as I hear about it alot but its never worked for me
So it is worth clearing them all then there, cheers for that
Yep ima step up my game, 27mins is where I'm usually at
Pillar of everything wrong with vidya, yes
If RE1 came out today as an indie title with all of it's original voice acting and music. What reception would it get?
This.
They took the original and EXPANDED upon it.
People nagging about the moth and other enemies from REimagined 2 was no big deal being cut but think back on RE 1 orignal, some people didnt know about the sharks(neptune) cause they ran the right way (left) and after draining the water wondering why sharks was flopping around. But in the REmake the sharks and Neptune was made a much bigger threat and a miniboss event. That's why i love the REmake, everything was taken from the original and added MORE !
gameplay might be fun, but it's a shit RE game
7 is the real 6 we deserved
Please explain.
Yes, I'm sure everyone was saying that in 1996
heard of that "vaccine" game?
This
Choke me mommy!
...no
Jill's pits > Reb's
This is an acceptable opinion. I am happy to play 6 as it has good and fun gameplay.
I can't find the video of tyrant but you don't even have to hurt him. Hurting him just speeds up the time to get the rocket launcher. It's something like 4 minutes where you just run around him if you don't hurt him at all.
As for the sewers. Watch this vid. It's pretty helpful. youtu.be
You can even do better on the 3rd g on your way back. Instead of getting back up with the asian zombie you can just walk backwards from the charge the G does and after it whiffs just run past it.
There's enough pistol ammo in the arena + a grenade to kill him.
that's your answer
The first half of RE4 is pure kino, but after you get to the castle the game takes a nosedive. Game is actually pretty meh.
Here’s your (You). Sorry it was delayed.
Remake is the best fixed camera Resident Evil, pic related is the best action Resident Evil. That's a FACT.
did the same and the sewer section is so not fun...
its the first section where i wasted to much stuff and have to redo but its really not ...inviting
>not getting S+ on Assisted, Standard, and Hardcore
yikes.
>At least the wipers work
Yes, its not perfect tho.
Helena does have great tits. But nuClaire's perky tits, smooth arms, smelly pits, and succulent neck have been driving me crazy for almost two months.
>A lot of the tension in hardcore was because you never knew what was gonna come next.
This doesn’t make sense. If you never played an RE game before this one, you by default don’t know what’s coming, regardless of difficulty.
Literally this. It's 100x better to play with another person. The AI for Sheva is ass.
Nope, this one was.
I've never played a resident evil
what am I missing out on
They need to stop making her an action girl and just have her as Chris' brainy sidekick, like his version of Hunnigan.
Can it with the lewd shit
That's the joke
You're a joke.
Post times. I'm a little burnt out on the game right now so I'm going to wait a bit before I attempt the B runs. Did an Assisted run yesterday with the cheat weapons and got 1h8m just for fun. That machine gun is fun as hell
Zombies, batshit insane villains, plenty of body horror, everyman protagonists who evolve into literal superheroes from RE4 and upwards, satisfying gunplay, chessy puzzles, extremely cheesy voice acting.
>spend a bunch of time trying to do stuff with no resources in case I need it later
>End game with tons of resources
whoops
They taste like Wesker
/ourgirl/ Sue approved it, so it's up there.

I'd love to play Revelations 2 because, you know, Claire. But I don't like to have to deal with Moira all the time...
Nothing a little makeup won't fix. Her overbite is adorkable, though
I always found Moira to be very durable when I played it co-op with my wife. She could wade right in with her crowbar and mess a lot of enemies up. The only limitation with her is she can't see the stupid fucking invisible vomit bugs during the last stretch of Claire's scenario where you're racing a timer. She's also damn cute
