And while not being able to update anymore isn't the biggest deal there is, this tend to lead everyone else to not support it anymore as well (ranging from drivers to games), it's the perfect excuse to just tell people to update instead and save yourself extra development work.

Eventually win7 will just be another winxp with barely anything new bothering to support it, despite how popular and widespread it was.

I still use 7 because 10 seems like some Orwellian nightmare of an operating system. I have yet to find a good reason to use 10 other than peer pressure.

The linux distributions are almost all crosscompatible.
I think Gnome has issues but everything else works with everything else.

What I do find off-putting about W10 is that you have little to no control over even something that's going on locally. Like turning off automatic updates in W10 is a nightmare on its own. And there's like a billion of other hidden processes it runs in the background that literally grind the HDD to a halt. Was it untimely scheduled defrag, or file idnexing, or the automatic update that rose from the dead again? Fuck if I know.

There is futaba warehouse which I think is the best place for art of OS-tans and nijiura maids. Would be probably good to upload good art from there to western boorus etc so the art would be more easily accessible, haven't really started doing that myself yet because been lazy about it, but only found the warehouse little over a year ago too. I also get 403 error when trying to access the site so I use a proxy.
On the left here nijibox.ohflip.com/futalog/ you can find link to the warehouse, kazumi386 link. One line of text on the main page of warehouse is: ひっそりと共有していきましょうね - so I think japs don't want the site to be widely known either.
That nijibox I also browse daily because some artists sometimes post art to futaba channel and nijibox, those filenames that start with su example are usually posted on threads on img img.2chan.net/b/futaba.htm only OP allows an image to be posted there. So sometimes artists make a thread on img with sample as the OP and they might post full and/or uncensored version to nijibox. Thankfully some archive sites also exist, one example ftbucket.info/scrapshot/ for last 48 hours, 5 most popular boards I believe. Futaba channel has their own versions of OS-tans of course, prefer those over official ones.

I didn't Nanami-chan will always be my windows-fu, I use Arch for other tasks and windows 10 at work, but for my games dualboot it will always be 7 because that's what I like, even if I have to disconnect her from the internet to keep her safe, somehow we'll make do.

You guys need to keep in mind this was ONLY done because of pressure by game developers and publishing houses. Possibly only 1 (Blizzard). There is not going to be long-term support or feature upgrade/implementation. It will never be as good as the Win10 version. It's bare-bones compatibility implemented as either a favor or a paid request from a game developer(s) for specific aspects of DX12.

To put it in retard terms, this is like making the jump from 32 to 64 bit. 32 bit simply can't handle this shit without rewriting the entire OS as 64 bit.

You can modify pretty much every aspect of its interface. The metro thing for the Start is fine as is once you get rid of the clutter. If you don't like the tiles you can get older Start menus back with like 3 or 4 different programs now, depending on how old you want it to look. Of all the problems with W10, and there definitely are some, I don't see how you can call the interface one of them.

You can always just use Classic Shell on 10 if you want your Start menu to look like an older style. From 7 style all the way to 9x style.

Look at your own screenshot, it's still exactly the same flat empty W10 bullshit except different color. There's jackshit in all those menus too. All the useful options are buried deep in the legacy control panel, which incidentally clashes visually with new UI because it was actually good.

Ubuntu is always a good start, though you should probably get a different lighter flavor of it because base Ubuntu is pretty clunky, especially since it changed from Unity to Gnome 3.
