The fat lets you store weed in the internet compartment.

holy fucking shit its a goddamn ps2, there are millions out there and they sell for next to nothing. just fucking buy the thing and stop making all these retarded threads

can someone explain to a brainlet why games on tv through 60hz analog signal on real ps2 hardware look really fluid kinda like fake 60fps but when I try to emulate same game on pc it looks like choppy shit?

You have a shit PC?

no? I mean the games run 30fps ish locked.

Interlaced display.

You probably have some jank ass frame smoothing feature on your TV then

Run ps2 games off HDD. Looks better too.

I've actually had trouble finding them at my local goodwills lately, and ones in good condition go for 50$+ on ebay.

The system's near twenty years old bro, you ain't tripping over them on a walk down the street anymore.
They're breaking down and are a retro collectible now.

whats the downside? blur? why do modern games like re2make actually render double the frames and then smear blur on as a post processing visual instead of using interlacing?

Monitor panels may be different than television panels. Probably why console fags feel that 30 fps is smooth but on PC 60 fps is needed. I've experienced both, and I can say this may be a factor but I don't have the nerdy facts to back it up.

>2019
>People still think PS2 emulation is horrible
>It's actually been really good for anything worth playing since 2010
>Everytime this is mentioned, some autist will mention how obscure game X doesn't work
>Then someone mentions a minor rendering error in popular game Y
>People still think PS2 emulation isn't great because of this and make retarded threads asking about the little to no difference between the slim and fat models

ps2 emulation is serviceable but not ideal. it shouldnt be the go-to option for all the flaws it bears but I guess people will still flock to it regardless because upscaled resolution looks nice.

I usually find software rendering fixes a lot of issues when there's something obviously wrong in the HW renderer.

I used to mind the lack of res, but then remembered that it's running the game at the native resolution anyway in software mode.

You can also fix a lot of issues by looking the game up on PCSX2 wiki.

yeah I was referring to hw renderer specifically. software emulation is pretty close to perfect save for few specific games.

Obscure games are the only thing worth revisiting the PS2 for.

Because you need to render "half" the frame. That is, only odd or even rows. So you actually do need double the frame rate.
