I've probably got about 6 days in game and I'm only now getting around to the end of the star chart. I would suggest picking a good frame and weapon and just focus on working through the maps.

Veteran, but havent played in a year. Skip mag. Frost is amazing. Nova is absurdly strong. Her ball pumps out stupid amounts of damage and the slow makes the game really fun/easy. Unless you speed up instead. Toxic lady spore build (forgot her name) is broken for weak enemies. Press q once per round and get 50% of kills. So lazy.

Overall yes, but in every situation? No. Volt or rhino with a scoliac for instance is the best level speed runner. Nova is best for the money mini game since ber ball one shots on the highest difficulty with tigris or euphona.

Slash with proc chance and piercing are the best physical damage types.

Frost is SS tier in terms of defending objectives.
Oberon is one of the worst frames in the game. He doesn't really do anything other frames do better.

Magnetic for shields.
Slash is king of status procs.
Radiation is effective against specific TYPES of armor while Corrosive outright strips a % of the enemies armor bar every time it procs.

The first person who responded to you wasn't me. I'm the one you asked. The thing is, all elements are good! It's just we can only pick one or two and one in particular is really important.

Because armor is scales so stupidly in this game, always go for corrosive! The reason slash procs are so good is because they are unaffected by armor.

The thing is, enemies in warframe are really squishy without armor. You don't really even have to worry about elements because of that. Low levels you don't need elements. High levels just get rid of their armor.

One thing needs mentioning. At endgame levels you need radiation for certain enemies, so some people bring one radiation and one corrosive weapon.

If you go with slash, slash is weak against corpus Shields so some bring an impact secondary (not a big deal)

It is on some weapons like the Kohm with a status chance riven and can even help you stay alive but when it comes to killing shit blast just ain't gonna cut it in most cases and just makes it harder to consistently hit weak points.

One important concept to understand for dps, is that independent bonuses work multiplicatively whereas stacking the same bonus is only additive. For this reason almost all your damage comes from your final MOD (so make sure to get me all).

Example: instead of going for 400% damage, go for 150% damage plus 150% fire rate, plus some corrosive or reload speed and ALWAYS multishot. You'll get loads more damage.

Frost is godtier defense. Bubble up on defense missions and use the Ice Wave augment for cheap easy CC.

Oberon, when modded right, can basically become a pretty powerful tank in later levels if you use Rage to self-sustain his health regen. Said regen works well enough on nearby party members if they're dumbasses or squishy. Just don't take level 100 bombard blasts to the face.

I mean yeah is we're talkin' level 40 or lower go balls to the wall with whatever you want.
If we're talkin' like maaaybe starting 80 and up? you're gonna have to start pigeon holing yourself.

Just keep in mind I may be a bit biased in my opinions about corpus and such.
My mentality is a bit wrapped around having tons of powerful mods and weapons available. Corpus are arguably much more threatening than grineer and if you dont have a good means of just splattering their shit they'll easily overwhelm you.

My fault for sometimes forgetting it takes more than a few shots to kill something when you aren't MR10+.Just get a good suite of mods and you'll be rollin'

By saving up your faction funni munni to trade in for relic packs when a prime frame drops. This includes the faction tokens that you trade in for rep.

Also knowing the best maps to go to to consistently get relics on rotation and then slaving your miserable life away slowly farming up a stockpile. Once you have a big ass pile put together a group of like minded individuals and all of you should focus target specific parts and use the exact same relics when opening them. Using reactants on them for the rare parts if you must.

Without trading? Just look at what relics can give you. Dump whatever that refinement currency is called into relics to better your odds. I've been aimlessly picking prime parts up and I've got 2-3 pieces for at least 3 or 4 different primes.

If you don't care about the shiny new primes, just wait for an unvaulting. They tend to make those relics easy to get, and there will always be groups looking to run four copies of those relics, which makes it pretty easy to get whatever primes they're unvaulting. If you can do the lvl 40+ missions, you'll spend more time waiting for the build than you will grinding.

Oh, don't recycle your damaged mods! They never drop again and are super efficient while leveling or formaing!

I've been breaking down duplicates for endo, but I've been making sure to keep a few of everything laying around.

I just did one as Rhino where I had to kill 15 enemies with finisher without taking any damage, and mange’s to get 5 kills on earth and then 10 more kills on Venus.

I looked it up and apparently it makes your bullets do 0 damage if you hit -100%. If you aren't at -100%, there's just a whatever percent chance they do no damage.
Depends on the challenge, but yeah there's a few that carry over. Which is great because some of them get fucking ridiculous.

I was away for years and the only thing that was really a problem for me was the Eidolon weekly from the first week, since that's so much determined by your Operator's amp and requires some real team building to be effective. There's been other things of similar tedium like the hour long Kuva survival, but I'd already had a strong set of end game mods and forma'd shit to handle that.

The main problem with Nightwaves for newbies is the problem there always is with new events: it has to handle people brought in by the PR and the people who've been hanging around for 6+ years. How many newbies are gonna miss out on Buried Debts for now? Eventually, like most new things, it should settle into a rhythm of people being able to work towards it and build up all the one time things that clear the way to getting repeatable things like potatoes and nitain.

Long term I think Nightwaves will be fine, but there's other concerns that need to be balanced around. While alerts had problems with having to be online and actually have the node available, and it being something you could handle, ultimately it was easy enough for a newb too do. And if you did it, you just got the thing, no muss or fuss. Now, you have days for dailies and a week for weeklies, but some are so fucked newbs will never do it or be a real pain to carry. And you have to progress through a lot of shit to get the handful of things you might actually want or need, like slots and forma. And then you can buy potatoes and helmets and auras and nitain, though nitain is less important for new players, with the currency reward, but now you have to choose. You have to get two currency rewards to even afford a reactor or catalyst and you can't really buy anything else like cosmetics or god forbid the useful auras.

Nope. There’s actually hardly any normal enemies that spawn during the Exploiter fight, it’s all just coolant raknoids with maaybe the occasional normal corpus enemy wandering in. You have to be on top of things for killing the coolant raknoids (since they can reset the Exploiter’s heat bar), but it’s way easier than the Profit Taker fight.

I managed to get myself a crit riven that let me break 100%, it handles alright up to Sorties. Drops off after that, like 95% of the gear in the game.

Atlas is quite good. He gets outshone (like most) because so many frames can just press 4 and wipe the entire map, but his kit is solid now. Passive gives survivability and sustain, Punch does mondo damage, Petrify is great CC and boosts punch damage, Wall and Rumblers are cheap and easy distractions.

You don't HAVE to, but if you ever catch a decent discount on plat, it can definitely help having some additional weapon and warframe slots.

It is disappointing how sorties are the metric and the majority of weapons even with an average riven don't match up to them.

I want to fly about the map drowning it in explosions.

Ogris is great but the riven just wouldn't roll so it sucks for sorties.

Making Concealed Explosives or Thunderbolt scale instead of doing flat damage would be a great way to get some fun explosive playstyles going. I love having to actually care about where I shoot so I don't die. Way more fun than my kitgun which is just pull trigger to melt hallway. Still love my kitgun, though.
Rivens seem like they were supposed to be a way to balance the playing field between the "good" weapons and the "trash" weapons, but frankly it just didn't work.

I mean I know I don't have to. It's a free to play game. But the questions still stand.

I can't speak about optimizing for the end game, but as for the early game, you won't have to spend any. There's plenty of frames you can put together by yourself that are decent if not great. Same for weapons. What makes you powerful are mods, and you'll earn plenty of good ones just by playing the game. As for time, it's hard to say. Sorry if I'm not very helpful, but I would just recommend installing the game and giving it a shot.

The problem lies in that other people can still play those god frames, and that alone is enough to all but ruin the fun of playing other frames. I love playing Atlas, but whenever theres a Mesa or Saryn on the team I want to rip my god damn hair out because I'll run across the map to punch something in the mouth, only for it to drop dead as Mesa starts whipping her Peacemaker around at 500mph. Worst part is that you can't even go solo 90% of the time, given how many things scale to player count in one way or another.

It is my sentiment too. If only there were more unobvious OP things like Gara's damage stacking. And she should really get her special warframe weapon already.
