You know, why does quake or UT fags get mad about Halo or threads itself. I've lost I don't know how many matches in the MCC and Halo 5 due to bad teammates. I can't take it any more. I was at my breaking point 4 hours ago and I had to shut it off. The specs would depend on the individual game. A toaster should be able to run CE. I doubt you would need something that great to run 2 & 3 either. Reach was a 360 game so that shouldn't be to bad either.

Hard to say, 2 and 3 are the two most fondly remembered, but if Reach releases first it might as well eat up a large chunk of the multiplayer population. 2's remaster is the best looking of them all so it might end up being the most populated, although the gameplay is a bit stale and floaty compared to Reach. 3 has very devoted fans but it isn't as remastered as 2, and therefore will probably have a less influx of new players. Halo CE's multiplayer can't stand on its own against the others, even if it was great for its time. Basically, wait and see.

Now let me tell you about Pimps at Sea, which was a build of Halo 3 sent to US Military troops overseas to play on their 360s for feedback and to give em something fun to do. From said screenshots it's clear that the primary difference is that it's basically Halo 2 assets with Halo 3 content and that's cool as fuck

Nah, Chief was always supposed to be a blank slate in Bungie's trilogy.
The books start him off as selfish and obsessed with personal victory, but he quickly becomes the leader archetype. Professional, self-sacrificing, noble, willing to lose a battle to win the war.

By H4 they go with a more "hey, isn't it quirky that Chief is an abducted child soldier fed a steady diet of experimental drugs and UNSC propaganda, with anything that could be interpreted as a human failing beaten out of him with a stun baton?" angle but they can't seem to really pull that trigger.
Chief's face reveal at the end of legendary is supposed to be this big fucking deal when they should have started with him dreaming in cryo-sleep about his first encounter with Dr. Halsey and expanded from there.
Pussy-footing around whether or not they want Chief to be a self-insert prop or a character led to that abomination in H5.

Yeah they aren't designed for Covies who can just slip space jump directly next to them and blow their boarding party load. I guess the idea is that any human ships attacking Reach or Earth should be seen coming a long way off and subsequently picked off.

They're aiming to work on a progression system. Only thing I could think of that would give people incentive for that is armour unlocks.

ODST was free for people that bought MCC in the early release days. If you were to buy MCC now you have to pay for it but I think it's about $5.

odst is a $5 addon unless you played MCC at launch when it was a disaster (then it's free)

Originally it was only the games featuring MC but ODST was eventually added and now Reach is being added as well. No Firefight for ODST though. Only the campaign.

In the book:

The UNSC forces prepare for their mission with Cortana and Master Chief participating in various drills while Reach is seemingly not under attack. The plan is for them to go on a mission to capture a Covenant prophet. Before the mission can begin, the Covenant pull a complete surprise attack. There's some action involving attempting to disable the orbital defensive MAC cannons. Ultimately the planet is very quickly destroyed. The Pillar of Autumn barely escapes.

But in the game:

There's drawn out military campaigns and land battles over what seem to be days and weeks. The spartan "Red Team" (Master Chief's team) is alluded to be taking part in civilian evacuations. The Pillar of Autumn is sitting in dock waiting for you at the end of the game. Presumably they leave right away for Halo with a covenant fleet in pursuit.

Honestly though, will Halo be the same with mouse aim? I know that Halo has been on PCs before, but it was bigger on console than it ever was on PC

The only thing is people are able to turn around faster, once you've played enough Halo on console you can consistently 4 shot with a stick regardless. CE on PC doesn't feel massively different than it does on console (shoddy port notwithstanding).

Halo is the only still living Arena FPS. Newer games in the series from Reach and onward fuck with this, but the classic games are solid. Its really only babies first FPS when compared to games like Quake/UT, its still leagues better than CoD/BF.

Genuinely good single player with 11/10 music.
Multiplayer was very well balanced and innovated a shit ton on the normal formula.
Right place, right time factor made it a game most people played in their childhood/teens.

Up until (including) Halo 3 the weapons were all ballistic (all bullets have travel time) and there were no loadouts or anything like that. Everyone spawns equally and there are weapons and other pickups (armor called "shields", invisibility and in Halo 3 the "utility" pickups like trip mines, bubble shield) on the map. Imagine an old school arena shooter like UT or Quake and then slow it waaaay down so players can aim with an analog stick and it somehow works. That was real Halo. The console arena shooter. And if you're more interested in singleplayer, that was great, too. Wide open maps, great squad-based enemy AI, vehicles, it's nothing like the other games you mentioned.

4 and 5 are shit and paying for multiplayer in a subscription fee is wack, but now that it's coming to PC and the devs are promising more "classic" gameplay there's a real chance here that Halo can be better than ever before. And even if Infinite turns out bad we'll still have Halo 1-3 multiplayer on PC. Good times.

In fairness FFXI was a fucking fantastic MMO.

Thanks guys. I know most people say Halo 3 is best armor, and I understand why, but I always loved the Colonial Marines aesthetic of the first game. Plus it made more sense to me that as a human being, you'd want to strap big, bulky plates of whatever unobtainium all over yourself to not get plasma burns, whereas later guys slim down on armor and go all camo- even though most covenant have thermal technology

as a Quake player I don't blame Halo for anything that went wrong with video games since. As a shooter designed for consoles Halo does almost everything right. Halo 2 was the first major (possibly the first flat) title to encorperate matchmaking into its online infrastructure, for the first time sitting down and playing a (Reasonably) fair match was possible, without having to worry about server slots or if the clan hosting the server were going to be sweaty as fuck.

What Bungie did with Halo 2 was make FPS multiplayer online games accessable to the masses, the modern perception of games wouldn't have happened without Halo, the saturation of FPS games for most of the last decade is due to Halo.

Hell, even Esports in the West owes Halo something, MLG Halo 2/Halo 3 were quite big 10-12 years ago.
