why the fuck is mission 7 so fucking laggy in the subway area

my pc is not the best but I can play the entire game at 60fps at medium-high, then at mission 7 it drops to 20fps, 40fps at low settings

Quantity and quality of (grand)children.

it was so thematically fitting that Vergil and Dante descended into the underworld together, it was a nice contrast to the DMC3 ending

I also think it was overall better written and had more fun moments
the stength of DMC3 lied in its characterisation and I think 5 does really well in that regard, the only shame is that V was more of a plot device than an actual character

Can we talk about the DMD in this game? It is the most brutal it's ever fucking been solely due to the horseshit checkpoint system in this game. Instead of respawning with full health and 3 DT like you have since the very fucking first game, they respawn you with the same health and DT you have when you made it to the checkpoint. So you either play perfect and hope you make it to the boss with enough health so you don't fuck yourself over so you can practice or you restart the entire level and go through all the trash again to make it to the boss with an acceptable health bar.

I feel like it was balanced around using gold orbs to make it through really tough levels and bosses because using said gold orb and respawning on the spot with full health and full DT is the EXACT SAME PENALTY as respawning at a checkpoint 3 times, with the same health and DT you had to manage yourself getting there.

S ranking requires pretty much no deaths and a consistent S rank across every major fight which is great and truly rewarding, but just to even get by seems incredibly unbalanced and way too fucking punishing.

Thoughts? Is it bullshit tedium or literally just restart the whole thing until you git gud and play perfectly.

It most certainly isn't, the way it was handled felt like they were going away on a vacation and Nero's just frustrated he didn't get to spend time with Vergil. Then we see inside hell and they're having a great time, and finally they're in the fucking van chilling out after everything is said and done. The last one probably isn't canon, but it's a strong indicator of "that's how things will go once they're back".

Itsuno knows no one will buy a DMC game without Dante in it, and after all of the hoops he jumped through to make Vergil real once more, it's only the beginning. Didn't he say in some interview that DMC5's whole angle was to make it like "the avengers forming up"? It really felt that way.

Vergil, for all his bravado, is on the level of Dante's autism when it comes to expressing himself. If Dante eats a sundae to feel better about the bird trying to murder him dying, Vergil has spent his entire life going through hell to get over his mom dying. His tone towards Nero wanting to fight him has the most kindness in it than anything he's ever said in any game. Just fighting him was enough to make him completely change heel and save the world with Dante instead of fucking off.
