About to start this to hold me over until Sekiro

What am i about to get into anons? patiently waiting for GOTY but hows this game gonna be?

Attached: DARK-SOULS-REMASTERED-Free-Download.jpg (670x384, 50K)

It alright

great game, Sekiro looks quite different though

I just ordered King's Field IV to get my From fix before chink souls comes out. Can anyone tell me: is this gonna be one of those games where you absolutely need a guide to know what to do?

>playing the "remaster"

There's literally nothing wrong with the remaster if you're a console fag.

>>playing the "remaster"
is there a diff between this and the og should i play the og if i want the full experience?

>great game, Sekiro looks quite different though
yeah ive just seen a lot of people say sekiro will be like samurai dark souls so even if i dont beat the game i want to at least have played some DS so i can see what they mean

its fine if you haven't already played DS1 for 2000 hours, but you wont get the same pvp game from back when it came out

Sekiro seems to be very different to Dark Souls. That said, it's still the best game ever made. Try not to look anything up as you play.

Not absolutely, but it can save you a lot of time of aimless fucking around.

I've never played DS1 before, what's something useful to know?

don't take the master key as your starting gift
don't level resistance

Get the rusted iron ring

Have fun. Shoot the shit out of the dragons tail with arrows

Git gud

Attached: A.jpg (512x512, 25K)

fag

why do I have the feeling you're tell me the opposite

The only differences that aren’t graphical are QOL changes for the better. Play the remaster, it comes with the DLC too. That user is just butthurt about the quality of the “remaster” graphics wise.

He's right. Taking master key as your starting gift may have you miss out on some stuff and resistance is the most useless shit in existence.

it's shit don't bother

whatever you want user
just don't look up a guide like a pussy

Attached: 1.png (348x265, 82K)

He isn't. Resistance is never worth putting points into and the master key lets you bypass a bunch of locked doors.

LOL paying for a patch

have you played any of the other souls games? I think the first one you play typically ends up being your favorite.

I just played through it. I really enjoyed it. Yes its true they didnt change much and a lot of the problems were fan fixed on the pc port. BUT! That being said its still a nice packaged game that was thoroughly interesting. The main fix is multiplayer level caping changed to a scale system. Which works so much better. Get it and play it, get over the 4 way rolling and it works great. Its not dark souls 3 and thats okay.

no this is my first time playing any souls game i tried nioh before but i couldnt get into it but sekiro seems like a better version of nioh but i may go back to nioh soon

>a lot of the problems were fan fixed on the pc port.
do i need to get any extra mods or something to make the experience not shit?

Why are you a sekiro cock sucker if you haven't even played souls?

looks like fun and theres nothing else coming out soon that looks good to me

Looks like leon in re6

Not in the remaster no. The remaster needs no mods at all to work at 60 fps perfectly

But if you were to buy the darksould prepare to die edition yes. [but you cant buy that anymore on steam so your good]

play nioh instead, similar theme

I named him tomato leon xD

Strike types weapons (Clubs and Maces) are easy mode since very few enemies are resistant to them. This applies to the entire trilogy.

Incorrect. They are both quite different. Play both, don't substitute.

okay ill torrent this too and try it tonight as well any suggestions on getting into nioh? i tried it before and didnt click with me only a little cause im into the weeb shit but not much gameplay wise

I know, but nioh is a similar theme but plays a lot different, good to get in the samurai mood I guess.

I've been a PC PTDE player for years, still regularly playing up until when the 'remaster' came out, I shat on it with everyone else. Over xmas tho it was cheap so I figured i'd give it a bash - gotta say, its nice being able to rescale the UI and health bars etc not bug out, it has some nice quality of life stuff too.

Its now my preferred DaS1 version on PC to my surprise. Its totally NOT a remaster tho lol, just a dsfix + a few changes. Definitely the best option for anyone who has never played it tho.

played it with a katana and had fun, you dont have to switch stances a lot just pick whatever you find ideal for the situation

Yeah i could see that.

>you dont have to switch stances a lot
yeah the first time i played i felt like i had to switch styles a lot cause it was part of the game and i should be but im just gonna try finding one stance and weapon

How bad's the cheating on PC these days?

I havent had problems

they added new weapons since vanilla too I think (in the complete edition), so there should be more variety as well

Why would you even need to cheat? Game's broken enough as it is:
>Dark Magic is still as broken as in the original
>Staves and Talismans don't count towards weapon matchmaking
>neither does upgrading armor, so you can invade the burg with maxed giants gear and be literally unkillable
>Chain Backstabs
>Karmic Justice
>Tumble-buff Stone Sword
>Any Spells cast before someone enters your world are invisible to them, most notably homing soulmass and pursuers

You can't turn off the atrocious motion blur and it retailed for 40 bucks. Paid online, too.

I JUST MET THE ASYLUM DEMON i walked through the door and i didnt wanna fight him and he literally fucking slammed dunked me with his cleaver.

The remaster looks marginally worse but works 99,7% under 60fps. DSfix shortens jumps and roll acceleration under the 60fps hack.

>>Any Spells cast before someone enters your world are invisible to them, most notably homing soulmass and pursuers

Holy shit, I never knew this. Does this happen in PtDE and the remaster?

Just the remaster, I think.

Keep running

still never ran into a single hacker.

There is literally an option that lets you turn motion blur On/Off. I loaded it up right now to be sure as I hate blur and always kill it where possible. None in the remaster.

>Cleaver
It's a greathammer user.
Also If you're having trouble with him, try looking for another way to get by the encounter

man i'm so jelly you're playing for first time.

Have fun.

you aren't meant to fight him till you get equipped

explore the arena

It's not new to the remaster.

That's what I said, console remaster has mandatory motion blur.

>About to start this to hold me over until Sekiro
Why? Game punishes Dorksouls players apparently trying to play it as such. Guess they wanna get away from their meme status

shit, my bad. Didn't see you were specifically talking about console.

That is aids, idk how anyone with working eyes can stomach playing on console these days.

>explore the arena
im scared i got everything from the starting area that i could i think i gotta go beat this nigga now

Attached: f65e6f9037646d0617e7894ec2363ec1.jpg (1917x1074, 1.54M)

I agree, I think that's part of why I never got super into Bloodborne.

>Playing the remastered version

Attached: 1535780871333.png (416x435, 99K)

Just remember, roll towards his attacks, not to the side

If you've never played a Souls game I would play Bloodborne. Unless you weren't counting that and have played it.

>Just remember, roll towards his attacks, not to the side
i got it first try cause i did a downard stab and took out half his health lmao but i almost died and i had to pray and slash him towards the end, my dodging time is horrendous and i need to learn how to parry

no ps4 or i would play BB

that is the dagger with a bleed auxillary effect iirc.

Bleed is amazingly good in DaS1, once you hit them enough with a bleed wep, it will proc and do massive damage - so don't be put off if your direct dagger dmg seems low, the bleed more than compensates for it.

resistance literally does nothing, master key is pretty useless unless you know what youre doing. its better to go through the game regularly then skipping shit on your first playthru

Listen to this man. That Bandit's Knife is actually a great weapon.

>first game is the only one where offensive miracles are good
>nerfed to hell in 2
>better off going with buffs in 3 but buffs are boring and throwing lightning is cool

Miracles are still good in 2.

>the bleed more than compensates for it.
thanks for the heads up i appreciate the help after that first boss im itching to get more into this im liking it

also can anyone tell me what kindle and reverse hollowing are?

Attached: 7cb7906bb1beeda78a95b7b2230f470e.jpg (1701x955, 1.15M)

you get a damage buff for 2 handing, if you aren't going to shield block attacks, 2 hand it.

Kindle adds more estus. It costs one humanity. Reversing Hollowing makes you human again, and able to participate in PVP and Co-oP

Not until pre-DLC late game and PvP they aren't. Takes so much effort to get through with just miracles it's ridiculous, meanwhile sorcery and hex both get 30 nuke balls with base attunement from the start.

It's not that hard. You can get a bunch of lightning spears plus Sunlight Blade pretty early on.

It's pretty mechanically dated these days but still an unparalleled experience especially if it is your first foray into these types of games. Go in blind, take your time, soak up the atmosphere and you'll have fun.

Miracles have always been designed as a supplementary form of offense, just like pyromancy. You aren't meant to go through the game using just, or even primarily, miracles. This applies to the whole series.

be aware npcs arent just punching bags. An accidental hit or two they may forgive, but keep at it and they will fuck you up.

Think of the game like the RPG that it is. If you kind yourself getting destroyed by certain enemies, you might want to look for another area to explore.

>be aware npcs arent just punching bags. An accidental hit or two they may forgive, but keep at it and they will fuck you up.

good to know cause i always try and kill the NPCs to see what will happen, i also just did only 7 damage to some skeletons then i died should i have found a better dagger by now?

>Think of the game like the RPG that it is. If you kind yourself getting destroyed by certain enemies, you might want to look for another area to explore.
i didnt see this before i just replied to the other guy okay so basically im not weak i just havent found the right shit when i just died to skeletons i almost rage quit cause im thinking i only did 8 damage to these guys but in the last level every hit was at least like 30-40

>i also just did only 7 damage to some skeletons then i died should i have found a better dagger by now?

Not necessarily no. Upgrading weapons at a blacksmith is a major part of souls.

There is technically nothing stopping you from using the gear and weapons you have now for the entire game.

You can't bleed skeletons tho btw, due to dem bones.

You also may want to take the advice of , exploration pays off in spades in Dark Souls 1.

By a bunch you mean a second if you rush Eathern Peak. And the casts pale compared to Emit Force up to 30 something attunement. Or you can do NG+3 Rotten for infinite supplies from Licia, but at that point you're just skipping to late game.

No, it doesn't. Hell, it doesn't even apply to DaS2, Pyro only is a walk in the park.

Post your Dark Souls 1 run where you go through an area and kill everything with just miracles. Go on.

idk what that guy is on, pyro only and sorcery only are massively viable.

Miracle is the only one where i'd say you can't really have a pure offensive miracle build, in most part due to just the low amount of actually damaging miracles and the times you get them.

Master key is for every play through after your first. Resistance is worthless. Health and endurance are always good to have. Upgrading your weapon is more important than leveling stats. Don't look up guides. Have fun

For me it was more a compliment to DEX build. Throwing Sunlight Blade on a Lightning Shortsword +10 got me through some tough fights.

Reminder: No one found this on their first playthrough.

Attached: Painted_World_of_Ariamis_01.jpg (1280x720, 589K)

Pyro only is "viable" if you ignore 99% of encounters.

This, master key is a perfect item for when you already know the game and are happy to sequence break zones in order to either skip areas or rush to specific items for your desired build.

Using master key on your first run can sometimes put you in weird situations where a new player is likely very much not equipped to deal with it, either knowledgewise or equipwise.

Why is everyone hand holding OP? The most fun in any souls game is that first five hours before you know wtf anything is about and you're ruining it for this fag. And OP why are you such a fag? This could have been pretty magical for you but you want your hand held instead. It's just gonna be old hat within a day or two, you should have enjoyed it.

I would if I recorded it, others did anyway. 20 spears is plenty given proper faith scaling, meanwhile I'm here struggling with about 5 spears early game and that's with both the ring and the hood for extra casts.

Not true, you get a dozen fireballs AND poison mist. Clerics are required to slowly munch herbs under base agility up until they rush El Ornstein Negro.

False.

I never played the remaster, but something I wish someone had told me for my first play through is to level some attunement. Pyromancy is only as strong as your flame so having 1-2 spell slots means you get to use it when you need it while still being a primarily melee character. even weak pyromancies can be good to have a few uses of

Play DeS first.

>20 spears is plenty given proper faith scaling
That is complete horse shit.

not remotely hand holding in this thread.

A few vague well intentioned tips are a great accompanyment to any new DaS player as it is a very easy game to just give up on in the first hour or two.

Seasoned fans know this and try to give just enough tips to allow a newcomer to not be absolutely awful / miserable so that they get a sense of the allure the game has, they then after a few hours are set to go learn everything else themselves.

Yeah, yeah, you won't be able to kill everything in your way (and neither should you have to, I don't know what kind of point you're even trying to make here), but you'll often find yourself with casts to spare after killing bosses.

>as it is a very easy game to just give up on in the first hour or two.
Why do people still pretend that these are some sort of borderline impossible games when there are an abundance of opportunities to trivialize most aspects of it? They wouldn't be selling millions of copies if they were a fraction as difficult as people make them out to be.

Well we must be in different threads because I see multi-paragraph, specific answers to basically everything that might hold some tiny bit of mystery in the first few hours.

Sorcery can be used 100% of the time and kill everything necessary in a given area with some casts left over. The same can't be said of miracles or pryomancy. Sorcery is designed as a way to replace your offense completely while miracles and pyro either support or need support themselves.

when people do caster builds do they clear regular enemies with an int type weapon? to save casts?

Just because of the stigma attached to the series imo. Even the most casual of gamers know the 'dark souls is so hard' or 'x is the dark souls of y' making the games out to be difficult and challenging.

The reality being that any well versed fan of the games knows they arent really that difficult, just very particular in how they want to be played.

As for why people give up early - idiots that try to fight the asylum demon forever and dont even see the door, however idiotic they are - these people exist.

People who get to firelink shrine then eternally get their ass kicked by the crestfallen warrior and then get spawn camped will likely give up.

Anyone who goes down the catacombs path and refuses to backtrack.

All 3 of those are easy ways for new fans to drop the game before giving it a chance. I'm sure theres a fuckload more too.

I really hope this is bait because you sound like some reddit soulscunt. Plenty of people aggro the npcs in firelink and don't just give up. You're not special for beating a smash hit game that sold millions, retard.
