This on sale right now for 8 bucks (vanilla) on Steam right now.
Worth a buy? I'm in the mood for a fantasy 4x.

not really. visually nice but gameplay wise it's fucking dull.
If you like a (fantasy) civ sure. Its fun as fuck and definetly worth the 8 bucks. They changed some minor things compared to Civ 5/6 so you might want to watch a youtube guide. Races a really unique.
getting mixed messages here
Yeah
Yeah, it's fun. Definitely worth $8.
it's gud
yeah, it's good. admittedly it does get a little stale when you're 3/4 of your way to victory and the battles are more like bookkeeping than anything, but for most of the game it's really good. and the factions are different enough that it's worth a few playthroughs as well.
It's a great game, get it.
Is it worth getting the expansions? The amount of DLC has been one of the things keeping me from getting the game.
thanks friends
I purchased it and look forward to playing it
Any general tips you guys can give me? What's a good faction to start with?
I enjoyed it as just the base game, but the expansions definitely help stave off running out of races to experiment with
I don't remember their name, but the knight looking people that use Dust are probably easiest to start with.
It's not a very complex game, just like Civ. So if you have 4x experience just start with whomstve ever you want.
Just watch the first episode of any youtube lets play. If you like it than buy it

This is how I felt too. Faction variety is nice but the battles suck, the city building is too formulaic, too few things to manage, winter is cancer.
Get ES2 instead.
Factions are unique and push for different playstyles, and grant replayability
The artstyle is gorgeous
The lore is cool, and the faction missions remind me of a watered down HoMM4 campaign. That's still a compliment.
The idea of a winter halting your production is neat and forces you to play around it
If you have friends it's probably the best 4x for entry level
Surely worth 8 shekels
Just don't expect anything like civilization. I did and I ended up hugely disappointed.
They literally put this game out for free weekends every other month. Tried it out, it’s shit.
Decent visuals and cool art, but ultimately a boring game.
>Any general tips you guys can give me? What's a good faction to start with?
Production is important early for your cities. The Broken Lords and the Wildwalkers are good starting points, Vaulters as well. Wildwalkers are more flexible with the least amount of gimmicks. The problem with Broken Lords is that they do not consume any food, so they might not teach you everything about this game. They use dust (gold) to create more population, which leads to a different playstyle.
Vaulters or Ardent mages or the cocksuking elf if you want
All factions play differently but a general tip is focus on production at the start and branch out to the other stuff later
If you're new to 4x start with vaulters
If you're new to 4x and gay start with elves
If you already played 4x and you're agressive get necros, research the spitty cumspitter asap and steamroll with your neverending army
If you're jewish play the death knights
Never stationate units on frozen lakes during winter
If you're not necros and necros share a border with you, either go balls deep on them ore move places
Literally just pirate it. I will never understand buyfags
They add a lot of content, but the devs are really starting to push their luck with all this jewery.
>tempest, shadows and shifters.
They all add a faction and new mechanics, worth the money. Especially tempest.
>lost tales and guardians
Respectively add new quests and special super-units. More content is always nice, but I wouldn't buy those outside of a bundle.
>echoes of auriga
More music tracks. This is the worst kind of dlc.
>symbiosis and inferno
Haven't tried those (they didn't even exist when I last played the game), but they add new factions and presumably mechanics. Probably worth it.
>hating on Wild Walkers
So much faggotry.
It's not that great.
Don't fall for the unique faction bait. Only 3 of them have significant quirks that make them stand out. The rest only have minor differences similar to civilization factions.
Inferno is about as quality as Tempest - actually better, since the new faction is at least playable unlike the Morgawr.
Haven't tried Symbiosis yet.
iirc the newest lava themed expansion is not done by the devs, it was outsourced to some huehue BRs
I'm getting my ass kicked with Symbiosis you can only have one city and you total productions is reduced by 50 fucking % but they can grab any resource anywhere on the map and i alwais fall behind in science because the AI won't trade any research
>Worth a buy?
Yeah, it's pretty great. It's my favourite game of the genre that's come out in the recent era, much better than civ for me.
Just play with each faction once or twice for a full game to see how do they play
I always enjoy doing that
huh, they made another expansion already? The lava people were op at the start too, and eclipse bonuses pretty broken.
